"My daughter is 12 and her name is Ruth Lucia Therese . She loves it and we love it. She likes the fact it?s unique. She goes to an all girls school of 700 and she?s the only Ruth 😁" Aug. 29, 2019:
"I love the name Ruth. It would be my name of choice for a daughter." Mar. 22, 2019:
"Those who have been commenting how strong, solid, etc. the name Ruth sounds should be NAMED Ruth!!! The name is a verbal speeding bullet!!! It comes at me (and I'm sure every other Ruth) like the strong, one syllable, four letter name that it is. Still, I wouldn't trade it for another name." Dec. 6, 2018:
"My name is Ruth Knox and I?m currently 13 years old and I honestly hate it when people call me Ruthie but it?s been going on for 13 years now and I?ve gotten quite used to it. I was named Ruth after my grandma who?s name was Ruthie. I believe it is a really pretty name and a unique one since I have never met anyone with the same names as me." May. 13, 2018:
"I love my name!Ruth Michelle. I was named after my mothers adoptive mom who passed away right before I was born. And I look like her! So funny. Most people call me Ruthie but I also get called Ruthie Mae Ruthy Lou Ruth Ann Ruthless and Roofy. All in good fun though. I did not name my daughter after me but hopefully if she has a daughter when the time comes she'll think of Ruth as a family name. :) Be proud of who you are. You are you for a reason!" Feb. 27, 2018:
"Most call me RUTHIE rather than RUTH ( Which is my Aunt's name). It is not a very common name these days which I like. But many people will say it is a nice name and that they have an Aunt, or Grandmother, etc.. with that name. And based on the stats, that does make sense. When younger I was also called Ruthless and Woofie, but all in good fun!" Feb. 5, 2018:
"I have a very good friend named Ruth and she hates the name so everybody calls her Ruti :)" Oct. 21, 2017:
"My name is Ruth Susanne, I love my name but as I child I always felt it was too old for me. I hated the fact my friends had names they could shorten, My dad used to call me Roofy Poofy which definitely didn't help.
As an adult I love my name and am grateful for being given such a classic name.
I find it sad to hear of people being bullied for their name but I think it says more about the culprits than it does the name." Sep. 19, 2017:
"Don't ask me why or how or what, but I just like the name Ruth. It's not just the Biblical connection, but it's a good solid name and every Ruth I've ever known has been a good solid woman. There's even a certain sensuality to the name. My biggest regret in life is not meeting a Ruth I could settle down with and/or having a daughter I could name Ruth. It's time to have a "Ruth revival" and give this name to a lot of little girls for a new generation." Feb. 19, 2017:
"I am a Ruth, and have loved my name every minute of my life. It's both strong and soft and reflects my very independent spirit." Jan. 6, 2016:
"Cute name. Didn't like it before but do now, quite a bit!" Aug. 31, 2015:
"Always loved my name Ruth. I felt special and an individual. I love the fact it is not too common---I was never teased or bullied and even as a grownup I am called Ruthie---wouldn't change it ever!" Aug. 17, 2015:
"My infant daughter's name is Ruth Elizabeth, and everybody calls her Ruthie. Everybody who sees her immediately falls in love because of how bubbly she is. We've only had one person make a comment about the name being old, but that person was an idiot. A cute new name doesn't make an ugly person any more appealing, and my little girl wins hearts despite the strong 1920's name." Jun. 3, 2015:
"My name is Ruth-Anne (I go by Ruth), I hated it when I was a child/early teen but it's mine now, I couldn't imagine being anything else. It's a strong name. It's exclusively female. And Ruth's as a whole have been a pretty amazing bunch. If you want to name your girl a name where she is more of a master of her destiny pick Ruth! There is no stigma around it. Don't not pick this name because it doesn't suit a baby, because Poppy doesn't suit a Supreme Court Judge." May. 5, 2015:
"My name is Ruth and I'm fifteen years old. At our school there are only two people with the name Ruth, and we're together in class! I love the sound of Ruth, but in Dutch it rhymes with multiple words like the word for pit, but also a not that nice name for the female parts. I sometimes get called 'Ruth put' or 'Ruth kut', but it doesn't hurt me anymore. I also get called Ruthjeeh, Ruthie, or Todo (the name of my self-invented bird when I was five years old hahaha). I don't have any middle names, so it's my only name. I also like the reference to the biblical Ruth, she was a really strong and loyal woman. I'm proud of my name!" Apr. 16, 2015:
"I'm another Ruth Ann :) Born 1965. There's not many of us about here in the UK. Took me a while but I like it. As one person said above no one forgets meeting a Ruth (I answer to Ruthie, Ruthless, toothie, wooof)." Jan. 24, 2015:
"My mother and one of my daughters are both named Ruth." Nov. 2, 2013:
""I'm a Ruth and my husband loves it!!! It's a strong, solid name and at the same time a soft, soothing name..perfect both ways!!! A niece of mine is a Mary Ruth and she says no name makes Mary sound as good as Ruth does!!! This name works all around!!!"" Jun. 3, 2012:
"Ruth is the perfect name. It's strong ("RUTH!" yet soft and soothing ("ruth"). Every Ruth that I've known has been one solid woman!!!" Jun. 1, 2011:
"My name is Ruth and I love my name so much! I love my name because whenever I hear the name Ruth I think their calling me." Jan. 10, 2011:
"I married a Ruth Ann and I'm glad I did!!! First, Ruth is the perfect name...it's strong ("RUTH!") and also soft ("ruth"). Add in another good name...Ann... and there's a great combination!!! The name(s) always sound(s) good either singular or combined. I wouldn't trade my Ruth Ann for anybody else!!!" Dec. 10, 2010:
"My name is also Ruth and I love it =)!Why?Because not a lot girls and women have this name! I sounds mysterious, calm, cool and surely timeless. It's so cute when written and easy to remember. Most girls have a name that finish with an "a","e" or "i" not that they are ugly far from it,it's just too common. In France, I know that it is more difficult to bear because it get confuse with the word "rut" that means:"Sexual period of activity during which mammals try to couple". I live in Quebec and never had a problem with it.People are surprised when I tell them my name (certainly because they do not expect it). They pronounce it in English or in German "Rout" thinking that it is in Spanish lol. When they ask me how I prefer to be pronounce, I tell them that I prefer it in French =D. Usually, I like it that when they speak to me in French, we say my name in French. When speaking English that they pronouced it in English and so on.I'm seriously thinking of putting this name to one of my girls if not I will suggest them this name." Aug. 17, 2010:
"My name is Sarah Ruth and I was born in 1990. I love it because it is classy, refined, and timeless." Aug. 6, 2010:
"My name is Mary Ruth. No name goes better with a grand old name like Mary than another grand old name like Ruth!" Nov. 12, 2009:
"Ruth is the perfect name. It's strong ("RUTH!")and soft ("ruth"). Every Ruth that I've met over the years or seen or read about has been one solid woman. One never forgets meeting a Ruth." Jul. 30, 2009:
"My name is Ruth Laura. If I have a daughter, I will name her Laura Ruth. I love my name, though I prefer to be called Ruthie. My name is unique like I am, and I'm always the only Ruth around! I wanted to be a Lisa when I was younger, because the last thing a teen wants is to be different or stand out. As an adult, I am thrilled to be the only one around, and no one ever mistakes me for the roomful of Lisas or Susans. And that's my photo (the first one posted)." Dec. 24, 2008:
"One of my best friends is named "Ruth". Ruth is a beautiful name. I like the names Ruth Elise, Ruth Marilyn, Ruth Madelyn, Ruth May, Ruth Deshay, Ruth Marie, Ruth Nicole, and Ruth McKenzie. Anyone with the name Ruth should be proud of their name!! :-D" Dec. 16, 2008:
"My daughter's middle name is Ruthmarie. She is named after my sister, Ruth Marie, but we wanted to combine both names for one middle name. Thus, Ruthmarie. LOVE it. We always get tons of compliments on her name. :)" Oct. 1, 2008:
"My name is Ruth, I go by "Ruthie" To most people. I also was born in '78! I didn't like my name because it was so different, and I couldn't find anyone below the age of 50 with the same name... I felt like I was too young to have the name....I then found out that I was named after my great grandma Ruth...I liked it ever since.
Nick names: Ruthie, Ruthless, baby Ruth, Woofie, Roo, oh yeah, and when I was a kid that garbage pack kid was also annoying: Ruthie Toothie.... which was a nick name I couldn't stand by the second grade boys" Mar. 17, 2008:
"I am called Ruth and I feel its so classy in comparsion with other names. I am proud to be called Ruth." Nov. 20, 2007:
"My name is Ruth. I was born in 1965. My grandmother named me. Growing up I did not like my name. It was not a common name. It was easy for other kids to make up nicknames that I did not like. As I have grown older I have come to appreciate my name. The story of Ruth in the bible is a good story and I am honoured to carry the name." Aug. 22, 2007:
"My name is Ruth....although most of my family calls me "Ruthie"...I hated the name as a youngster because EVERYONE was named Ruth...and I think that helped me make sure my daughters all had unusual names...my Dad picked my name...and I am named after Ruth in the Bible...but I wouldnt want my daughters to name their daughters Ruth...too old fashioned..as the FIRST commenter so KINDLY said...lol" Jul. 27, 2007:
"My name is Ruth. I love my name, but people and school call me Ruthless or woof but i don't mind." Dec. 14, 2006:
"The name has been around forever...I really love it...I think that this name will come back strong again as a favorite. So many people are tired of the popular trendy names." Mar. 10, 2006:
"I named my daughter Ella Ruth, after her Great Aunt Ruth. I love the name Ella but for some reason I always call her Ruth or Ruthie! I'm the only one that does and for some reason I can't stop. I just love the sound of it!" Mar. 2, 2006:
"I love being a Ruth. It was a great name as a child, as it was easy to spell and didn't rhyme with anything more obnoxious than "tooth". I can't say the same for my poor friend Charlotte. ;-)" Feb. 14, 2006:

"My name is Ruth Ann, called Ruth and I have hated my name for many years. I liked being called "Ruthie". On the phone people think I'm saying "Bruce" and have to spell it out for them. If I get a cup of coffee no one knows how to write it. It does feel like an old lady name - I'm 56 but young at heart. I was complaining about my name to my mom one day and told her it was an old lady name. This was on the way to the eye doctor. She strongly disagreed with me. We got to the eye doctor and they called the name "ruth" and a really old woman on oxygen with a cane got up. Case and point." Feb. 11, 2018:
"Ruth is my middle name. my first name is Sarah and when you put Sarah and Ruth together you get a grandma name. :( My mom wanted my middle name to be rose but my dad chose Ruth after is great aunt which is nice but I'm always embarrassed to say my middle name when people ask. :(" Aug. 31, 2014:
"My name is Ruth Ann and I don't like it at all. I've always wanted to have it changed but it would be too big of a pain to do so. The reason I dislike my name is because it makes me sound like I'm much older than I am. I'm only 24 I don't look or act like a Ruth...It just doesn't fit me. I also hated the fact that the only nick name I could have was Ruthie and that was just as bad because there was a big cow statue that would travel around my area named Ruthie the cow, and all the kids would make fun of me ~ugh~ as I went into middle school and high school Ruthie was better but it soon faided and I am now just plain old Ruth. ---blaaa---" Sep. 28, 2010:

"My name is Ruth Esther Angeline, and honestly at first I didn't like my name, because I was teased a lot,and people used to tell me it's a granny's name...but now that I realize at school almost everyone knew my name because it wasn't so common and easy to remember. as to my other classmates there was always someone with their name. And so now I think it's a lovely unique name, which has a beautiful meaning to it.🌻(for nicknames friends usually call me :Ruru, luti, ruthie,Rut.)" Jan. 15, 2021:
"My name is RUth, but I don?t like it. I feel like it?s an old person name. I wish it had more variations of it, because I personally want a more androgynous nickname. I?m 14, and sometimes I used to cry because people always call me Babe Ruth, and I just hate it." Aug. 11, 2019:
"My name is ruth and I have mixed feelings about it half of my family call me ruthie and some of my friends to I never found anyone name Ruth that?s my age (13) I think it is kinda boring and I get annoyed when little kids call me roofie I was named after my grandmas middle name ruth
Oh and most people in my school make fun of me for my name to" Jul. 12, 2019:
"My name is ruth some call my ruthie mostly my family and some of my friends and I like that because I actually don?t like my name that much because I say oh hi my name is ruth there most likely like oh that is my grandmas name and I?m like of corse it it lol . But I like the meaning I?m named from my grandmas middle name so I?m learning to like it but you know I?m 13 so. And I just think it?s a boring name" Feb. 25, 2019:
"A lot of people talk about how the name Ruth is both a soft and strong name. They ought to be CALLED Ruth. The name is like a verbal bullet. It comes at one a lot firmer and blunter than a name like Susan or Lisa or Debbie. It's OK to call me Ruth-just say it softly!!!" Aug. 28, 2018:
"I was named Laura Ruth, for both Grandmothers. I was close to my Grandmother Ruth. I hated the long double name growing up when friends had short names like Sue, Kim, Jenni...I wanted to be a Peggy. Later, upon introduction, when you gave your double name & last name, people would say "Laura Who?". Now, I appreciate it but wouldn't name my daughter Ruth or a double name." Oct. 4, 2017:
"My name is Ruth. I am named after my grandmother Ruth Elizabeth and my mom Mary Ruth. Two awesome women. I adore my classical name." Apr. 8, 2017:
"My wife's name is Ruth I don't mind it but I think it's funny how much she hates it" Jun. 21, 2016:

"My name is ruth i get bullied alot from since i was 5 people call roof mash like am a dog it hurts everytime i feel like i sometimes want to change it all my life o get teased i wish i was neva named ruth" Nov. 13, 2014:
"I'm 11 and my name is Ruth it's kinda a granny name but i wouldn't change it if I could because u kinda grow into your name u know?" Apr. 13, 2014:
"My name is Mary Ruth! I've only met one other person with my name and she was at least sixty years older than me. I love having a unique name. My friends have endless nicknames for me which is cool too. But it is annoying when people meet you and think your name is Meredith or Mary Beth or Ruth Ann or Mary..." Dec. 14, 2013:
"My moms name is Ruth! Her name is Ruth Mary!! Very close to the above comment. I didn't used to have an opinion on it, but now I really love it." Jul. 7, 2012:
"I'm a Mary Ruth. No name goes better with Mary than Ruth!!!" Feb. 6, 2011:
"RUTH is a beautiful biblical name. Not common like all the other RIDICULOUS names out there right now. Glad my mom named me Ruth, I find it very classy and does not contain every single letter in the alphabet." Jan. 20, 2010:
"I was born in 1990, so growing up with the name 'Ruth' was something I was always teased about. Between Babe Ruth and Ruthie the Cow (Country Fresh mascot), I thought it was an absolutely horrible name. (It didn't help that my parents also gifted me with two middle names.) As I got older though, and saw just how many Ashleys, Sarahs, and Jessicas there were, I came to adore my name. It's something that I don't see often, and I like it as it is, not lengthened to 'Ruthie', as that's childish and something I only allow my grandmother to call me." Oct. 8, 2008:
"My name is Ruth Mary. I was born in 1964. I was named after two of my three aunts, Ruth and Marian. I am okay with the name and have wondered when the name "Ruth" would become popular again? It is easy to spell - even in Kindegarten. It is a nice sounding feminine name, and there's not much anyone can do to make fun of it. I was hoping to have a grandbaby with the name Ruth, either as the first or middle name, but I ended up with three grandsons...so that didn't work out!" Jul. 23, 2008:
"My name is Ruth. I was born in the late 1980's and the only people I know with the name are adults. I don't mind Ruth as a name, however I prefer to be named 'Ruthie' because it just makes me feel easy-going, relaxed and I suppose it appears more modern. It sort of makes me feel like I should be the person my name suggests. But in saying that Ruths are 'friendly' people, and so all variants and originals of the name suggests that we are a 'lucky' group of people!" May. 10, 2008:
"My middlename is Ruth and I had to get adjusted to be called like that in the States because in my home country it is always pronounced as Rut (which I like better)." May. 12, 2006:
"My sister is seventeen and named Ruth. People often tease her, because most young people are not named Ruth. Mostly older people are named Ruth. People call her granny, etc..." Dec. 12, 2005:
What do you think about the name Ruth?
