"My name is Myra and I like it because it is unique and because I've always loved Christmas. Saint Nicholas was the Bishop of Myra. I've always thought it was cool that my name has ties to Christmas and that it is a name from the Bible. I think it's silly that people say don't use the name because it's tied to an infamous crime. What about all the other names of murderers? Did we stop using the name John, Ted, Jeffrey, Jack, Belle? We wouldn't have many names left if we did." Nov. 9, 2020:
"My name is Myra and i?ve never met anyone with the same name. Alot of people react when i say my name becaus in pretty unique. Myra in swedish also means ant so alot people wonder why you would name someone after a small animal" Jul. 31, 2020:
"There's a lot of history in the name Myra. In the Roman period the City of Myra (in modern day Turkey) rapidly embraced Christianity. One of its early Greek bishops was Saint Nicholas! It's also a name mentioned in the Bible - Paul changed ships here on his way to Rome. From Wikipedia: Archaeologists first detected the ancient city in 2009 using ground-penetrating radar that revealed anomalies whose shape and size suggested walls and buildings. Over the next two years they excavated a small, stunning 13th-century chapel sealed in an uncanny state of preservation. Carved out of one wall is a cross that, when sunlit, beams its shape onto the altar." Dec. 26, 2019:
"Myra is my name. People do often pronounce it wrong like Mira instead of Myra. I have never met anyone with the name Myra in Florida or anywhere for that matter and i'm 16." Dec. 13, 2019:
"This is my name, I've always appreciated how unique it was, but never understood why other people thought it was beautiful. Everyone ALWAYS pronounces it wrong, my name is pronounced My-rah just how it's spelled but everyone always says it me-rah or mih-rah. I get so ticked when they say me-rah because that means "look" in Spanish lol. I've never met anyone with their name spelled exactly like mine but I have met people (Mayras) who's name sounds like mine, I've also heard from people about other people who they've known with my name." Mar. 17, 2019:
"Have very often had it mis pronounced as Mara, Moira . Mara. 4 letters yet why ? Break it down, 2 syllables My and Ra
Downside is through life had to keep nose clean as only Myra at Primary, secondary , armed forces" Sep. 2, 2018:
"My name is Myra, and I love how unique it is and how it's such a simple but beautiful name. I live in the UK and I have never met another person with my name, but that is probably due to people instantly being reminded of Myra Hindley." Dec. 28, 2014:
"My name is Myra & I didn't really appreciate having a unique name until now (I'm 33). My parents thought I was going to be a boy in which case my name would have been Myron... yuck. Ya, I get called Myrna or Moira... yuck again." Jun. 25, 2011:
"When I was young, I felt my name to me quite plain and unappealing, however, I have grown to love my name and receive many, many compliments on it. It's nice to have a unique name tha doesn't sound contrived and tacky. Believe it or not, many people mispronounce Myra using Mia or Myrna or Me-ra." Sep. 18, 2009:
"I think it is a pretty name, although it has become obsolete in the UK because of the Murderer Myra Hindley, I have a very beautiful friend who was christened Myra, but in later life changed her name to Eve because of all the nasty comments she receieved!" Apr. 29, 2007:
"I love my name!! It is so unusual but yet easy. People don't usually forget me!! I was born in the 60's and when I was in high school teachers used to mistakenly call me Myrna, which I would always correct!! Haven't met more than a fist full of other people named Myra. It's great to be the only one." Sep. 14, 2005:

"Myra Hindley has ruined this name for the next few generations" Nov. 21, 2017:
"Bad pronunciation, often a negative connotation on the name! I know of a Myra who's pretty obsessed with stalking so much so she stalked her ex's girlfriend like crazy! Quite a taboo in Britain because there was a Myra who was an infamous murderer. Give a better name." May. 5, 2015:

"i like Myras they are always the nicest, most amazing people ever." Jun. 27, 2020:
"My name is Myra. I have never had any bad responses to my name. In fact many people complimeny me on it. As for being called after a murdress. Its unfortunate but is every Rose a Rose West or Bonnie a gangsters moll? I discovered it is biblical. Myra is a place in Turkey where St Nicolas dwelled. It means beautiful fragrance after Myrrh. It has been used in many poets works. I love poetry. I would not change my name it is me. I am individualistic a bit quirky so it suits." Dec. 30, 2019:
"My mother's name is Myra and it is a very meaningful name to me because I have not seen or heard from my mother in over 4 years. This name isn't very common and that's what I like about it. It is very unique and anyone with this name should feel very lucky and thankful." Oct. 3, 2019:
"I can't imagine any parent (IN THE UK) calling their girl "Myra". I really think you'd have to be a bit nuts to call a girl that, cos there's only one person that that name brings to mind." Nov. 18, 2018:
"My mothers name is Myra and she hates it but I have always realised its historical significance and its a rather strong name. The only thing that really, really puts me off is the very common mistake of calling Myra .. Moira .. a name that is so awful it should be illegal." May. 26, 2018:
"And I thought I was the sensible one. Thanks for setting me srtaihgt." Mar. 15, 2013:
"Life is short, and this article saved vauallbe time on this Earth." Dec. 14, 2011:
