  • "I like my name.?Lori?. I am from the south where you have to have two names and called by both. I am Lori Lee. Lee after my Daddy, Jimmie Lee. My daddy was named after his uncle Claude Lee... and so on. In my family it was Best to have a short name or it took to long to be called to dinner. When I am called Lori Lee, I know the person on my family tree. Just brings back memories of hot summer days, hunting for lighting bugs and sipping cold tea out of a mason jar. Oh yes , I love my name. Thanks Betty Jean and Jimmie Lee. I miss you!" Oct. 16, 2017: Report as inappropriate

  • "I am a Lori, born in 1959 and I have grown to love my name. It is no longer popular, but I feel it makes me unique now. It doesn't have the old fashioned sound of "Rose" or "Blanche". It is a timeless name and has a poetic sound" Nov. 24, 2016: Report as inappropriate

  • "I used to hate my name, now I LOVE it! I also should point out that I'm a guy named Lori. Thats why I used to hate it so much. Only rarely did I get teased by anyone while growing up as some people may believe would happen. My parents were expecting a girl, so my mom picked both a first and middle name out - which is also a girls name. By the time I was born, my mom was already set on both names and didn't see any reason to change them. And honestly? I'm really glad she didn't." Dec. 1, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "I LOVE my name and the spelling. To me, it's cute yet strong and very different. It wasn't until after high school that I met other women with the same name AND spelling. I met a few people named Laura or Laurie, but not Lori. Actually, when I was younger, I was suprised and thrilled to learn other people had my name. Though more people seem to share my name, it's still not as common. Awesome!" Nov. 22, 2005: Report as inappropriate

  • "I've always hated my name. It's boring, has no option for nicknames the the only others I've met are twenty years older than me (born 1986). It's never spelled correctly and to me sounds like the name of a cheerleader or other bubbleheaded type. If I had any other option (middle name is Anne which isn't any better) I'd go by that." Mar. 9, 2017: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Lori 37 years old and personally i hate it id rather have a common name than sumethang i dont hear of much and besides it sounds blah" May. 23, 2013: Report as inappropriate

  • "honestly, i always wondered why my mom named me lori, but i learned the story behind it. my mom named my older brother, who my dad wanted to name. so he named me. he said he named me after a person from a tv show from back then but i dont know for sure. ive always been a bit negative about my name, partially because the history my mom and dad had. he was abusive verbally and physically. were going to court about that soon so dont worry.but i always disliked it because of him. i never met my dad before january this year, and visitation has made everything complicated. and stressful. my mom wanted to enroll me into school with my middle name (which she gave me, its angel) because other people have done that for their kids. but it never stuck, and i ended up going by lori. she said she wanted to name me laila, or layla, but you know, my dad and all. but i thought it was annoying how it didnt really look pretty no matter how you wrote it, and i didnt like that it was so short. anyways, todays my birthday, and i turn 13. thats why im on this site. i was just wondering about myself, my name, and all that stuff. ive only met two people named lori though. one was at a sunday school (that i didnt go to because im Buddhist, but we were picking up my moms friends daughter from there because i was babysitting her) and she was the teacher there. the other was in a chick-fil-a bathroom (i know weird) and they were both around 40 when i met them. that was years ago. i was younger then 8 at that time. but ive grown used to my name. i still dont love it, but i dont hate it either. when a teacher calls on me (even when im doing online school this year because of covid) everyone knows who i am. no one else has my name. thats the only reason i like it. its unique. but its really hard to get a nickname from it, so i get nicknames off my personality, or my username on video games, or my middle name. i feel like i like when people call me by nicknames from my video games gamertags, because i change my name every so often, so i feel like the older the name, the longer weve been friends, and i like the personality nicknames too, because it tells me how people see me. but alot of my friends i talk to online (on video games) they compliment my name and they say its cute. sometimes they do just because, or when i say i dont like my name. i honestly cant tell if they say it to be nice or if they genuinely like it. but i honestly dont mind much. sorry this is so long, im done. thank you for staying here and reading all of this. ill let you go now. -ⓛⓞⓡⓘ" Oct. 28, 2020: Report as inappropriate

  • "I am also Lori pronounced laurie and hate it when people call me Lorry. I'm in the UK born in 1987 and was named after a second aunt. My middle name is louise so I too am lori Lou or lori Lou lou to family and close friends... I'm growing to Lori as I get older but hated the typical 'lorry' are you a truck jokes at school! Lori lou Lou however.....maybe cute maybe not so!" Aug. 5, 2020: Report as inappropriate

  • "I am a Lori Ann born in the 60s. There were five Lori Anns in my high school graduating class out of 701 students. Even so, I always loved my name. When I studied abroad in England, I was informed that my name was often referred to as a truck in England. I?ve often thought that my mother must have named me after a soap opera character from the Edge of Night." Feb. 15, 2020: Report as inappropriate

  • "Always used to hate my name, Lori Ann is not cute when your mom uses it every 5 min. But my name was picked out even before my brothers were born. Only knew 1 other Lori that I babysit growing up until about 20 years ago at my last job then Lori's popped up everywhere. I don't hate it but I always wanted a nickname. Can't shorten Lori. Came close when a girl I worked with Lori was her nickname. I became Lori 2. But now I'm 43, a wife and grandmother. I am Lori. No other name would ever fit me." Dec. 16, 2018: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Lorie spelled with one e 1 r. Middle name is Ann with no e!! My dad added the e because he said it did not look finished. I know only one other person in my hometown that spells it with the e." May. 15, 2017: Report as inappropriate

  • "Lori is ok, but I wish my parents would have had the foresight to consider that their daughter may want a name with some dignity for the future. ( I was born in 1971) I'm not into 'cute', and Lori (Ann) is just... A little too cute for my taste." Feb. 8, 2015: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Lori and people always spell it wrong,(E.g Lorry, Laurie, Lorie) as well as pronouncing it wrong. It is Lori, as in "Sorry" but with an "L" Like a Lorry that drives on the road. I rarely come across another person called Lori, but I don't really mind that, as I imagine knowing someone with the same name could be quite confusing." Aug. 20, 2014: Report as inappropriate

  • "I am a "Lori" and Its ok i guess, all of my mom's kids have "L" names so it just stuck when I was born, I mean my mom couldn't call me hey you till I told her want I wanted my name to be. I think its funny knowing that a lorry is also a truck in England. If people don't like their names, you can always pay money to change I suppose. I am an artist, so I like it being a short name." Oct. 1, 2013: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Lori. I hate it. I think It kinda sounds weird so i pronounce it 'Lorry' .. And Spell It 'Lorii' Just to be different. • "This is how my friend's mom spells her name and I love it! the only problem is people pronouncing it "Laurie" and yes! there is a difference in the pronunciation." Feb. 18, 2007: Report as inappropriate

  • "I was in a class once, where I "Lori", one of my best friends, "Lori" and two "Laura's" were. It was hilarious to see the teacher try to cope with that! What I have found to be relatively true, is "Laurie" is an East Coast or over 60+/- spelling, and "Lori" is a West Coast or under 50+/- thing. I do like my name, though when combined with all my other maiden names, was way too short!" Jan. 5, 2007: Report as inappropriate
