"My name is Joanne. I've always liked the name and thought it suited me. There was no one else in my school named Joanne, so I was never in a class with someone who had the same name. I like that it's not super common, yet (at least for me) most people could spell and pronounce it correctly. I'm fond of a bit old-fashioned names, and I also love how it's not too long or too short!" Jul. 1, 2020:
"Joanne is how my mom spelled my name. As a rebellious teen I put a Capital A in. I like my many nick names. My dad and brothers call me JoJo. I have very fond memories of my Dad calling me JoJo. Most family and friends call me Jo. A few boyfriends called me Josie. It's weird if you date a Joseph. My Grandfather was Joseph, his mother was Anne. Its assume thats where I got my name, but my mom says it came from a song the came out when I was born. "her name was joanne" She said her father (Philip) liked it. I like that fact it's uncommon. To me it's sweet. My kids think its a very old fashion name. They don't know any other person with the name. I think its good." May. 14, 2020:
"MY name is Joanne and its the best though i hate when people mi-say it nowadays and instead say jionee or janna for some reason and its also very hard to find someone else in school with the same name. So if i want on my exams i only put joanne." Feb. 25, 2019:
"I think Joanne is a pretty girls name; popular in the 50's, but is making a comeback; as well as Johanna. I have a friend with this name & her middle name is Mari; variation of Marie, which is kind of cool..." Aug. 17, 2016:
"My first name is Jo and middle name Ann. I am usually called Jo. Love the name Jo Ann. Named after my grandmother." Nov. 16, 2014:
"My love is named JoAnne and I love her name! JoAnne is the best name, sexy too!" Nov. 8, 2010:
"My middle name is Joanne, after my grandmother, but i have had a couple of friends with the same first name, so i go by Jo to some people.. I think it's a great name.. lots of variations yes, but i think that just gives more freedom.. for spellings and also nicknames.." Feb. 16, 2009:
"THIS IS MY SISTER'S NAME & SHE ABSOLUTELY LUVS IT A LOT!! SHE DOESN'T LIKE ANYONE CALLING HER JO, OR JOJO, SHE JUST LIKES BEING CALLED JOANNE." Mar. 8, 2007:

"I'm Jo-Anne, named by my father. He had 3 choices: Wendy, Susan or Jo-Anne. Would have preferred Susan or even Joanna. Never liked Jo-Anne. Hate when people hear me say Jo-Anne and go right ahead and call me Joan!!! I'm 68." Jun. 8, 2017:
"I'm called Joanne, but the number of people who call me Joanna or Johanna is infuriating. I don't particularly like the name and almost every one refers to me as Jo, some people call me Jojo or something using part of my surname added onto the end of Jo, I'll be honest when people call me Joanne I immediately think I'm in trouble! At school there were a few other Joannes, only one other in the same class and she liked being called Joanne so I got to be called Jo, which was a relief." Feb. 5, 2017:
"My mother named me...don't know why or where she came up with the name, she decided to spell it Jo Ann (two words, one name)....nobody ever gets it right, but for over 58 years I've been stuck with it...my father once told me he would have NEVER picked the name..." Dec. 1, 2015:
"My name is Joanne. I have never really liked the name. I had brothers with modern named.I am known as Jo. I love my nicknames if Joey and Jo Jo." Oct. 25, 2015:
"Not a very feminine or pretty name. Mine is officially spelled Jo-Anne but I have dropped the hyphen - computers don't like it and I always get Jo as my first name. No one ever spells it right. There is just no way to say JoAnne is a romantic way in a moment of passion!" Nov. 6, 2014:
"My names Joanne but i dont like it every one calls me Joey :(" Jul. 29, 2010:

"My name is Joanne. In college someone told me it is a sexy name, although I don?t see it. I never disliked my name, but I dislike ?Joan? and ?Joanie? which is how many people read my name. Also I will introduce myself as ?Joanne? and a minute later the person will call me ?Joan?. Drives me nuts. Lately I get Joanna a lot too. People don?t listen. As a kid my nickname was Joey because I have a cousin also named Joanne, and at work my name sometimes evolves to ?Jo? which I don?t mind. I despise ?JoJo? which to me sounds like an organ grinder?s monkey. I was named fir my great grandfather, Jacob." Jun. 21, 2020:
"My name is JoAnn and I don't have a middle name. When I was baptisted they listed my name as Jo first name Ann middle name. I never liked it and noone spells it correctly. But now that I am older I get called Jo Jo by my younger neices and nephews. I like that. I would like if one of my grandchildred were named after me but with a middle name." Jul. 16, 2019:
"My name is Joanne, i was born in 1968...very few people call me Joanne... Most call me Jo or Jojo... I don't mind.. I love my name JOANNE... XXXC" Mar. 4, 2019:
"This is my name and i love it. I like that i can be called Jo which has a cool modern feel and sometimes i prefer joanne which is more feminine and 'Anne' gives it that ageless classic feel." Oct. 17, 2018:
"My name is Joanne. In school it was mostly mispronounced Joan or Joanie. I started writing it JoAnne but that didn't make people pronounce it correctly. What I don't like about the name is that sometimes it comes out sounding like JoWann. So I try to enunciate clearly when I introduce myself." Apr. 9, 2018:
"Joanne is a nice name. It is my name. All one word with an e at the end." Jul. 25, 2017:
"My name is JoAnne, I was named after the best man (Joe) and maid of honor (Anne) at my parent's wedding. My father called me Joey, many called me Jo. I like it but I just found it on an extinct name list and it makes me feel old." May. 13, 2017:
"My mother named me Jo-Anne because my father
was Joseph and her name was Hannah. Glad she picked that instead of Johanna which I dislIke more. There were 5 JoAnnes in my first grade class. My spelling was unique. Have dropped the hyphen because computers never get it correct. Have never had a nickname - always called JoAnne." Mar. 13, 2017:
"My sister picked Jo Ann for me. I have no middle name, so most people think I an Jo, middle name Ann. My family would call me Jody, makes no sense. Like it only because no one else in school was named Jo Ann" Feb. 18, 2017:
"My name is Joanne and I hated it when I was young. I've grown to like it as an adult, but would have preferred the variation of Joanna or Johanna. All my life, close friends and family members have called me by the diminutive forms of Jo, JoJo and Josie, which I always considered terms of affection or endearment." Jan. 24, 2017:
"Jo-ann was my mother's name. I named my daughter Jo-ann. I use the same spelling my mom used. She was named after her mother and father, Joseph and Angelina.. So I guess my daughter is named after her grandmother, great grandmother and grandfather." Sep. 30, 2015:
"I didn't use to like my name, but now I do. My dad used to call me Joey, which I liked and my husband also calls me Joey. I also like Jo and Jojo." Jul. 20, 2015:
"My mother is notliving i am 81years of age so i dontknow where she got the name" May. 15, 2015:
"My name is JoAnn, the spelling was Jo-Ann but I dropped the hyphen. No one ever spells it right anyway. And I have always hated being referred to as JoJo. Especially when the woman I was working with had a dog named JoJo. Told her to never never call me by her dog's name (she never did)." Mar. 21, 2015:
"I've asked my mother why she new me Joanne, she's always said it just popped in her head after I was born, lol.not that I don't like it ,she just didn't give it Much
thought" Feb. 22, 2015:
"My name is joanne but people call me jo or joanna not sure why people call me jo" Dec. 11, 2012:
"My name is Joanne and most people ask me how to spell it or if they guess they mostly write Joan. I love that it's not very common but I hate that it feels old fashioned in a bad way." Oct. 19, 2010:
"My name is Joanne, I usually have to spell out my name to people, they always get it wrong. I prefer Jo instead, easier to spell." Nov. 11, 2009:
"My sister's name is Jo-Ann and she doesn't like it much. I love it, but the spelling could've been better - like Joanne." Aug. 18, 2009:
"My name in Jo Ann. I was named after my grandmother Johanna. I get a lot of different spellings. I thinks it's ok. When we were small my sisters called me Jo Jo. I still have a good friend that calls me Jo Jo. I liked it because my dad's name was Joe and so was my grandfather's. It kind of made me feel connected." Mar. 6, 2009:
"my names joanne people always call me joanna coz they expect meh tae be calld that ." Sep. 29, 2008:
"My name is Joanne and I'm named after my mother - bad to worse. It always seemed masculine to me and people call me Joan or Joanie... Ugh. I'd prefer Joanna, Anne or Anna - which all seem more classy." Sep. 2, 2008:
"This is my name. I like it very much and, except for a short time in high school, have not had or wanted a nickname. It is sometimes misspelled - usually without the "e" - but not mispronounced. I pronounce it "jo ann" with a bit more emphasis on the "ann."" Sep. 1, 2008:
"My name is spelt JoAnne. No one ever spells my name right and growing up there was always a lot of Joanne's in my classes, but it's not as common today." Jun. 16, 2008:

"This spelling is seemingly very uncommon anymore. My sister, who was born in the early 80s, is named Joanne. The poor girl gets all kinds of misspellings from Jo Ann to Joan. It's a nice name, but the number of possible variations in spellings can make it a frustration." Jan. 19, 2008:
"I was named after my grandfather joe and I love my name!" Aug. 7, 2007:
"I meet too many people with my name and different spellings of it. So I just go by Jo." Dec. 3, 2005:
