  • "I named my daughter Jeanine with this spelling. People who read her name for the first time sometimes call her Jeannie; which annoys her and she has to correct them. J E A N I N E is an older spelling of the name and I think the prettiest! It's a beautiful name." Aug. 18, 2016: Report as inappropriate

  • "Janine is my middle name, but I go by my first name Cindy. I hate Cindy because everywhere I go there is at least one other Cindy and about the same age as me, so I think it ages me. I am thinking of trying to use my middle name more." Jul. 22, 2016: Report as inappropriate

  • "People have spelled my name wrong all the time but I'm used to it my name is spelled like this jannine but my mom wanted to change it to jennina but I don't think it's gonna happen anymore" Jul. 5, 2015: Report as inappropriate

  • "I think the name Janine is great! My name was changed to this 2 weeks after I was born. I'm so happy that they made the change. It is different and slightly unique. People have pronounced it wrong but, it's not the end of the world. I like being able to put them right and be proud of my name :)." Feb. 16, 2014: Report as inappropriate

  • "I am a Janine. Since I was a small girl, people have been misspelling it and mispronouncing it. When I was in school, people (including teachers) constantly called me Jeannie, Janie, Janice, Janet, Jeannette, Jay-nine, and so on. My parents always called me Jan, and I shortened it to that when I was in college just because I was so tired of having it mangled." Jan. 6, 2014: Report as inappropriate

  • "My mom wanted my name spelled Janine on my birth certificate, but my dad spelled it Jeanine. According to the government, I'm Jeanine, but according to me I'm Janine. Both ways are okay by me. I like that I rarely meet other people with the same name, but when I do the first question is always, "How do you spell it?"" Jul. 9, 2011: Report as inappropriate

  • "my name is janina and it is difficult to pronounce..but it doesn?t matter because i love my name and i think that is wonderful to have something tah makes you unique..." Feb. 14, 2011: Report as inappropriate

  • "My mom named me Jeanenne, I have never met anyone else with my name. It is VERY hard for people to spell - which can be frustrating. Now that I am older, I appreciate the uniqueness :)" Dec. 19, 2010: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Jinene. I thought no one in the world spelt it like that until I read the comment above. If I a nickel for everytime someone told my that the spelling of my name was nice, I would be in Bill Gates' tax bracket lol." Jan. 29, 2009: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is "Yanina" which in Spanish is a variation of Janine (Is pronunced "Sha-NEE-nah"), I LOVE it, but I hate when people spells it as "Sha-ni-nah" or "Ia-ni-na". I was gonna be called "Ioannina", but in Argentina wasnŭt allowed. Now, some years later, Iŭm just "ANI" (AH-NEE) For my friends and family!! =) Congrats Janineŭs, Janinaŭs, Jeanineŭs, Ioanninaŭs, You have a great name! When I was younger I used to hate it, but then, I started loving that is even UNIQUE!..." Oct. 5, 2007: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Janine, and people mispronouce and mis-spell it all the time, but I love the name and get compliments on it being pretty! I like its originality. I met only one other Janine who spelt it as I do, and she was a cashier at a dollar tree store I was in!" May. 4, 2007: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Janene. I have always liked it. I have met a few other Janene's in my life, but only one who spelled it the same as me. We were both shocked, but pleased. It seems like my spelling is the most phonetically correct - but people butcher it all the time - usually Jeanne or Jean-ann." Jan. 13, 2007: Report as inappropriate

  • "I fell inlove with the name and named my daughter which was born in 1982 Janine. She loves it as well, & has had compliments about her name her whole life." Nov. 14, 2006: Report as inappropriate

  • "I am Janine. I was born in 1950. When I was growing up in the 50s and 60s, no one had ever heard of it. I didn't meet another Janine until I was in my 30 and she spelled it differently. It is almost always mispronounced and mispelled. I think it's a pretty name, but has caused me problems all my life. I would have prefered a more common name. I made sure my kids didn't have to go through what I have and still do. I named them Angela and Amy, traditional spellings. I have been called everything from Janie, Janice and Jeannie to Genevive and Fannie (go figure) and have been teased alot while growing up. My childhood nickname was nennie and is now J-9." • "I spell my name Janine. When teachers read my name off the register, they have no trouble pronouncing it correctly. It's when people try to spell my name when they get it wrong. I've had countless Christmas & Birthday cards addressed to Janien,Janeen, Jeneen, Jineen, Genine, Genean Geneen, Genie etc. Another annoying pet peeve is that there's another girl in my class called Jieanne (pronounced Jee-anne). People constantly get us mixed up (due to the fact that our names are similar and we are both Asian). Be warned, there's a chance that if you name your child this, people will mistake it for similar names (e.g. Janie). People always call me Janiney, Ja-9 etc. (its harmless light-hearted teasing but it still gets on my nerves). Someone in my class even made up a rhyme in primary school: "Janiney is a queeny and she drives a Lamborghini and she really likes paninis." I found it fun at first, but after the 88th time it really irritates you. Despite all being said, I still love my name, it's very unique (nobody else I know has it), yet still an established name (not made up stuff like Neveah, Abcde, Le-a etc.) My mum also sometimes calls me Neen or Nina, which I love." • "My name is Jenene...I have never met anyone with the same spelling. It's been mispronounced extremely way too much. I love my name though. I just hate when people pronounce it as Ja n?e n?e. I guest people don't know the last e is silent." Mar. 9, 2014: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Janean and I don't think I have ever met another Janean spelled my way. I really like that its so unique but at the same time I like writing it with an "i" in it. I just think its cuter & funner (haha is that a word) to write it Janine. But my mom told me once that she didn't spellit like that bc it looks like Ja-nine--- I guess I have to agree and am happy that mine really looks like Ja-Nean. I love my name and how close friends & family call me J, Nene, or Neen for short. Cute, pretty, girlie name. ;)" Apr. 29, 2013: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Jenine, I have never known anyone with the name spelt like this, people always ask me why isn't it with an a, I prefer it like this, and I either get called Neen, or J9. Use to hate it but love it as i got older!" Nov. 29, 2012: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Janene. When I was younger I was indifferent about it because I couldn't find any personalized items, so my mother made things "especially for me" and now I am a monogram hog :)I noticed that people usually say it and still do spell it wrong-even putting a "G" instead of a "J" sometimes. HATE THAT!- Learn your phonics please people! However, as I approached my teens, I learned to love the uniqueness of my name, I even have a best friend named Jeanean since 8th grade and we are now 36. We got A LOT of attention and complements on our name- and we still do when we go out :) Hey everyone...if you get a chance...check out Manhattan Transfer's version of the song "Jeanean" it's sweet!" • "People seem to have a hard time with my name. I usually have to say it twice and I always have to spell it. When people read it, they often read "Janie". I think it is a simple name, but I think most people are used to the more complicated spelling, "Jeanine." Go figure." Jun. 1, 2006: Report as inappropriate
