"I used to hate my name. Then I realized that there were alot of other common names and mine was not. I think it is so awesome when I meet another "Janie" Not someone who's real name is just "Jane" and goes by Janie...I have met three other real Janie's I am Janie Lynn...When I was running for student Body Secretary...my slogan was "Be Brainy vote for Janie!!!" I won ;)" Feb. 13, 2019:
"I named my daughter Janie. She is 10 mos now. I love the name. I think it is cute for any age, original, not trendy or overused, and she can go by Jane also. I do get tired of people calling her "Jamie" though." Jan. 5, 2011:
"Well my name is Janie (: and blahh < $$ i hated it for a while, but then i started too think that it was a unique name because i never met another female with my nameee(:" Apr. 26, 2010:
"I was named after my Grandmother, who was named after the old midwife who delivered her. This was an old black woman from the area. When I was younger I loved to listen to my Grandmother speak so lovingly and dear of this old woman whom she came to cherish. My Grandmother is gone 15 years now and I have grandchildren of my own! I love my name and the history behind it. I've met afew other "Janie's" who , mostly, were older than me. But in the past few years I've been meeting younger ones (teens, twenties) so maybe the name is on an upswing! I've also noticed it used more in movies and commercials. I think it is a lovely name! Thanks for letting me express my feelings.~~" Dec. 20, 2007:
"That's my mom's nickname for Sarah Jane....sounds really good. Janie sounds better than plain Jane/Jean. :) that name suits her perfectly." May. 28, 2007:

"My name is Janie Mae. For many years I wanted to change it until I learned that Janie means gift from God. I instantly fell madly in love with my name and I am so grateful that my mother gave me this name. I am named after my great grandmother whom I never had the pleasure of meeting. She died long before my birth and I can?t help but wonder what my life may have been like if I had the honor to spend time with her. My maternal grandmother died in 1919." Aug. 2, 2020:
"I named my daughter Janie after my grandmother. I love the name! She?s often called Jamie, oh well. We live in a very diverse area, so we get some interesting pronunciations, e.g. Juh-nie (Long i). We?ve met one other Janie who was in her 70?s." Jan. 20, 2020:
"I have never met another person who was actually named Janie. Yes a recent problem is people thinking you said Jamie, but choose...when I meet people I introduce myself as Jane and it is then very easy for them to go from Jane to Janie. But going from Jamie to Janie never clicks for people. So maybe choose? I love my name - not overly used, has always fit me...and did the early popularity of the name come from a play called ?Janie.? The name is cute! I?m glad my parents didn?t look at me when I was born and say - what a beautiful baby - let?s call her Hilda." Aug. 3, 2018:
"Janie was my best friends name. She passed away when we were twenty. In her honor I named daughter, Janie. I love this name and regardless of people confusing her name with Jamie, it is a sweet, caring and unique name." May. 9, 2017:
"This is my name. I really didn't like it at first because I've never met another teen named Janie. I realize now it's not so bad. People I know often spell it "Jaine" which is kind of weird. When I meet new people I usually have to repeat it because they think I say "Jamie" I've also had teachers spell my name "Janine"" Feb. 21, 2011:
"my name is janie-lee and i have always had to correct the spelling or pronounciation, at 42 yrs i'm a little over it!. it came from my irish great grandmother. but i'm an aussie -oi oi oi" Jan. 20, 2008:
