"Despite people always pronouncing my name wrong, I love my name! Being Irish and named after a "John" my parents wanted something more feminine and chose Jana (which is the femanine form of John, and pronounce it like John-na or Jah-na. I have met only a hand full of other "Jana's" however they either pronounce or spell their name differently." Oct. 14, 2020:
"My name is Jana, Jah nuh. It is usually pronounced wrong until you get to know me... Then it is unforgettable! If

I'm in my late 20's now and still love it. People almost always mispronounce it but not as much as they used to. I've never gotten Yahna or Johnna but I get Jayna a lot! I pronounce it like Jan-na." "I love my name, but almost everyone pronounces it wrong....even after being corrected, so I rarely correct anyone anymore. We pronounce it with a hard J sound and with the a's like in act. So many people pronounce it like "Johna" or "Jayna", or "Yahna". Add to it a difficult last name, and I rarely hear my name pronounced correctly!!" Mar. 17, 2006:
"I like having an unusual name, but people never know how to spell it! Most people think it's spelled with a "Y" because of the pronounciation" Jun. 4, 2005:
"Most of my life, people had never heard of the name Jana. Lately, I've run in to a few people with how know someone who has the name. When I was young I hated having a name no one ever heard of now that I'm over 50 I love having a name that is not the norm." May. 27, 2005:

"I do not like my name (pronounced Jan-nuh). I think it would sound cuter paired with my middle name (if I were referenced as Jana Beth). But what really bothers me are 2 things: a) if proper english pronunciation were used...The vowel, consonant, vowel would make the first A long. Like Dana. Meaning: Jana really should be pronounced Jay-na. My pronunciation should be spelled Janna. And ?john-nuh? should be spelled Jonna. B) even I find it difficult to SAY! It comes out so southern like ?Jay-yuh-nuh? when I say it and trying to use it in a sentence is hard! Try saying ?this is Jana? and it either sounds like Jenna, Jayna or Gina to everyone else. I always have to say ?like Anna with a J...?. I also get called Dana a lot. I always tell my mom she misspelled my name . But I am awesome so maybe there is something to the name ;)" Dec. 3, 2017:

"My name is Jana. Only complaint towards my name is that people always seem to pronounce it wrong. It's pronounced Jan-nuh, rhymes with banana, but I always hear Jayna and Jenna. Only half of my teachers pronounce my name right, the others use those variations. Other than that I've only met 3 Jana's, with the same pronunciation in my life. I love my name and it's uniqueness and wouldn't change it for any other name. :)" Jan. 29, 2019:
"My name is Jana a lot call me Jenna and tell them that's not many girls my age is not name Jana any more I am 33 now I don't hear my name any more I wish I did because its so pretty" Dec. 10, 2013:
"Yes my name is Jana and I was named after my Mom. So annoying that everyone pronounces it wrong. Jana meaning and name origin:
Jana as a girl's name is pronounced JAH-nah. It is of Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Jana is "God is gracious". Feminine form of John." Apr. 3, 2013:
"My daughter's name is Jana, and we pronounce it Jah-nuh. Many people call her Jan-nuh when they first read the name. I love the simplicity of the name, and she likes it because it is different." Jan. 30, 2011:
"I am a Jana too...and I love my name.
