"It's my name and it's awesome (y) People sometimes come up to me and tell me they have a grandmother or great aunt with the name, but my favorite instance was when I was volunteering at the zoo and a little girl smiled shyly and told me her dog's name was Inga. I've only ever met one other Inga in my life. We were at the same summer camp, she was around 6 and I was 14 or 15. I was so excited, but I don't think she was old enough to comprehend the gravity of that moment." Jun. 1, 2015:
"My first grade teachers name was Inga, it is a Dutch/German name and she told us it was like a whisper or windlike, not sure if thats true. Love the name, I've since named our daughter Inga." Feb. 18, 2007:

"My name is Inga! I absolutely hate it! My full first name is Ingrida, and whenever there is a sub. They read out that name in attendance, and everyone laughs! One time I was at a water park with my friend and she said something like, "Inga, you wanna go on that slide together?" And the person behind us made funny sounds off the Inga. I am looking forward to turning 18." Jul. 13, 2020:

"I disliked my name growing up because I grew up in a homogeneous and unsophisticated part of the US. Now as an adult I think it?s fantastic and very special. I have a unique and pretty name, and consequently it?s a family name. It connects me to my roots and I am deeply proud of it. If you?re feeling sad about having a ?different? name, hang in there- It will become clear soon that people who want everything to be the same are uninteresting." May. 10, 2021:
"my name is Ingela (pronounced ING-uh-luh) which means little Inge. (Inge is a variant spelling of Inga.)
I believe "Ingela" is of German/Scandinavian origin, and is a name more popular in Sweden and Norway. Very rare here in the USA.
As you might guess, my name is often misspelled or mispronounced. Some people tell me it is a pretty name. Or it sounds like a song. But it is not my favorite. Oh well..." Oct. 23, 2008:
"Its my moms name and I think it is very unique but sometimes people have trouble promouncing it" May. 30, 2006:
