"This is my name! :) I knew it as the Spanish translation of Agnes (which in turn comes from the Latin 'agnus,'='lamb') but my Egyptian friends told me that it also means, in Arabic, "one whom it is comforting to be with.," or something quite similar to that. Made me smile - it's a definition I'd love to live up to!" Dec. 12, 2013:
"I love Inýs, it is my middle name. It is the Latin form of Agnes and it means pure and chaste. This name is not to be confused with the Arabic name Inas, which means sociable." Feb. 6, 2009:
"My daughter's name is Inýs, and I find it a beautifull name. Here in Portugal you can find lots of girls called Inýs, but the pronounciation isn't easy!" Oct. 7, 2007:

"My name's Ines, but that's 'cause I'm portuguese....In portuguese it's written "Inýs" and it means "lamb of god" or "something good and pure"...I like my name,it's easy, short and u can't really make stupid nicknames out of it!The only problem is, there are sooo many girls named Inýs in Portugal!" "I was given that name by a German mother and French father in the mid 70s. They had travelled and lived in South America for quite some time and really fell in love with the name. It is not until the late 90s during a trip to Paris (France) that I discovered that Ines is from Arabic origin and that it means "something good". When the Moors invaded Europe (including Spain) they brought the name with them and the Spaniards kept the name. This dates back to the 8th century so...Its Spanish now..." Apr. 22, 2006:
