"My first name is Kerry Hollis.
People assume is my surname here in the UK." Jul. 9, 2020:
"Hollis is my first name, my middle name is Ann. My mother swore it was hyphenated, but the folks who filled out my birth records failed to use the hyphen. Some people don't like hyphenated names and they may have left it off on purpose. Hollis alone has always caused people to think I was going to be a male. Perhaps my mother just wished she'd hyphenated it. Used to be Holly, but now I'm actually liking Hollis." Aug. 9, 2018:
"My middle name is Hollis. it's unique and when I tell people they are always interested! I've been told it is very beautiful and i like it myself." Jan. 18, 2011:
"Hollis is my first name most people think it is a last name or a boy name. According to my mother the name was given to me because I was to be born near Christmas and the nickname Holly would be appropriate, I came early in November. I was a teacher and I always received mail with Mr. or nothing in front of my name. I continued my education and became an administrator and received my doctoral degree, upon applying for jobs I found that many school districts thought I was a male and I did not get the job when they found I was a female. I love my name it is unusual, everyone that knows my name think it is a pretty name. I only had a few teachers in elementary school that called me Holly, but I preferred Hollis." Dec. 3, 2010:

"Hollis is my first name and I'm female. I've only met one other person with my name, but he spelled it Hollace." Nov. 9, 2014:
"This is my given name......I am a girl. It is historically a man's name, however. it wad my grandfather's name. However, as I have gotten older, I have met at least 3 or 4 other women with this name, although they have spelled it differently. I have also found that more and more people I meet love my name. It took me a really long time to love my name. As a girl, almost all my friends had names that ended in y or ie.....so i went by Holly for a long time. Now, I love my name. It is one you have to grow into." May. 7, 2008:
