"My name is Heidi - pronounced ?Hay-dee?. I am an Afrikaans South African. I do like my name, it?s quite unique. I?ve only met one other Heidi whose name is pronounced like mine. My nicknames are Heids, Heiditjie and Heidi-man. When people meet me for the first time some would ask ?where is Peter??, this happened quite often when I was much younger😁 Strangely enough my brothers-in-law is called Peter and a friend of mine is also called Peter. He is actually a cattle farmer😂" Sep. 24, 2019:
"I named my daughter Heidi Grace. I love the name meaning and sound. I hope she likes it. I had considered that she will hear "Heidi ho" a lot, but I didn't know exactly how much until I saw this page. I hope she likes it when she's older." Dec. 10, 2018:
"I have never been called Heidi Ho... my dad called me Hi-Dee and then the dew turned into diesel🤣 but I love that there is not another heidi every time I turn around! And I met a Heidi in college and we were like twins in features!! I had random people come talk to me thinking I was her and vice versa!" Feb. 21, 2018:
"Wow haha I never realized how much I actually had in common with other women with the same name as me haha, I?m only 17 but I have had to deal with people calling me ?Heidi Ho? or ?Heidi hides? or ?Hi-Dee? and a lot of people recently in high school started to call me ?Heids? as a nickname since Heidi isn?t really a name you can make an shorter like my middle name which is Cristelle so they either call me ?Elle? ?Cris? or ?Cristy? very confusing while you?re growing up let me tell you, but other than that I have always been the only one at every school I?ve been too, to have the name Heidi no one else has had it. People always say the like my name and guys think that?s a turn on because it?s unique and sexy. My uncle named me after the cartoon Heidi he fell in love with the show and he said he knew I was going to be a Heidi, whatver that meant haha. But regardless I love being a Heidi and I would never change my name ever!!! - Heids :)" Nov. 23, 2017:
"I love my name! My nickname was Heidi ho when I was little (even my teacher called me that) but I never had a problem with that. I used to hate my name when I was 5 or 6 and always wanted to change it, but now I love my name it isn?t really a popular name that much any more and everybody spells my name hidi! And the jokes they make but I?m happy to see everyone with the same problems as me. I love my name so much and I?m the only Heidi at my school! I love the book Heidi too!" Oct. 20, 2017:
"I love my name! Even more so because I was either going to be an Ursella or a Heidi - so my mom did the right thing! People will often say, "you definitely look like a Heidi" (whatever that means, lol). But it is often misspelled quite a bit. I loved as a child my uncle singing the Heidi Ho song, it made me laugh. The only thing that gets me sometimes is people saying, "ohhh like Heidi Klum!" - yes, yes - the model and I have the same first name." Jul. 22, 2017:
"Im Cuban And my name is Heidi. It's not quite clear to me because my parents can't seem to come to terms about it. My dad said it was after the actress Andy u mom said it was after his exgirlfriend 😂. Either way I love my name and thankfully ive only been called the "Heidi heidi -ho" one time. Heidi is short ,strong and sexy. Thumbs up for all my triple S twins out there!" Jul. 23, 2015:
"My parents came to America after WW1 and I was bullied for being German (and we lived in Germantown). I hated my name back then, but now I love it.
It's real funny when people try to figure out how to spell my name. I tell them H-e-i-d-i and also tell them, remember I before e except after c. I love the confusion on their face after they realize what I just said." Feb. 12, 2015:
"My name is Heidi, my sisters are Hayley and Heather so I respond to these names as well. I've only been asked once if my parents actually named me Adelheide, no they did not thankfully, but that was Heidi's full name in the book/movie. I always thought my name was kind of annoying (mostly because I annoy myself on a regular basis) but I've really come to like it now that I'm older and people have stopped with the "Heidi-Ho" nickname. The only nickname I've ever been given was Hydro by a friend when we were in our teens. I'm 33 now and I think Heidi is a grown up name. My husband thinks its a beautiful name and he's made me appreciate it more. When I was in the Army, I know that it surprised people that I had such a sweet first name when I came across as being rough and tough, I liked their surprise." Jan. 5, 2015:
"Heidi is such a beautiful name. I don't know much people named Heidi, it seems kind of rare" Sep. 1, 2014:
"My mother lived on a farm in Iowa and named many barnyard animals but she saved the name "Heidi" for me! Ha! I was born in 1969 near the time of the highest popularity for the name. At the time, many people named their dogs Heidi so as a child people would tease me calling me "Heidi the dog!" I really hated that... I told my father I didn't like my name and he suggested calling me "question mark" instead.. Ha! Also, the most popular girl both in my class and the entire school was named "Dee". People were always saying, "Hi Dee!" and I would turn around thinking they were talking to me...Ha, they were usually talking to her; I endured thirteen years of school with Dee. :) Anyway, now I love my name and the novelty of it, its Germanic background, the way it sounds and the fact that there is a renowned children's book and movie named Heidi!" Feb. 2, 2014:
"My name is Heidi and I adore it! Most people spell it wrong even my dad forgets how to spell it! I went to a high school with over a thousand people and I was the only Heidi and I have never met anyone with it but the "Heidi-ho" thing annoys me a lot. My nickname is "heids" and a lot of people I know want my name haha" Jan. 15, 2013:
""Hi,I am Heidi and I adore my name even though people keep on saying annoying things like "Hi Heidi, Hi-deee or Heidi-Ho." Girls in my class spell my name like Hiydee and actually call their dogs Heidi. If someone wants to tease me they call me Heidi untidy.I think my name is sweet and odd -no offence."" Apr. 6, 2011:
"My daughters name is Heidi Leigh. Everyone loves her name and anyone that sees her always says "she is definetly a Heidi!"" Oct. 31, 2010:
"My name is Heidi. I didn't like it growing up, for reasons already listed on here several times ("Heidi-ho," "Heidi's always hiding," "Hi-D", movie references, etc.) But I've grown to love it. It's nice to have a name that stands out from the sea of Jennifers, Jessicas and Carrie/Keris I work with. It gets misspelled a lot, but it doesn't bug me that much." Jul. 25, 2009:
"My name's Heidi and I've always loved it. Not too common, but not weird. Funny enough, my roommate in college was also named Heidi, and we became good friends. We were known as The Heidis. I love that it means "noble one"." Feb. 24, 2009:
"wow.. my name is heidi, i never knew other heidi's got greeted with a "hi dee" my dad says that when i walk by him.. but i always liked it, i guess cause i'm such a daddy's girl. ugh i never liked being called heidi-ho.. even if they didn't mean "hoe." I really didn't like my name growing up, but over the last 2 years or so i've really grown to like it.. i guess having that special someone really like it helps. ;)" Feb. 16, 2009:
"Well, I get the usual, "I had a dog named Heidi, but it got hit by a car." or "Oh yeah, like the one from the Alps?" and the oh so creative and hilarious, "Heidi Ho!"
I think this one is my favorite:
"Do you like, get high all the time, Heidi?"
Oh, and to address the part about Heidi Montag, i'm ashamed to share a name with her. She really is Heidi Hoe.
But, even though i've said alot of negative things about it, it really is a good name. It's strong, and pretty. I love it." Oct. 21, 2008:
"I love it, I named my daughter Heidi. it suits her and there are not too many about. other peoples spelling of it is interesting sometimes!" Jun. 23, 2008:
"I hated it when I was younger, but I'm alright with it...but if one more person says "Heidi HO!" like thats the first time I ever heard that one!" Jul. 13, 2007:

"My baby girl born on 16th Jan 2007 is called Heidi - I hadn't thought of it at all during my pregnancy, so when she popped out and I looked at her, it just came into my head instantly. it's great because it's really unusual, but not too weird for her when she's growing up!" Jan. 23, 2007:
"I called my daughter, born this year, Heidi. I wanted something that wasn't in the top 50. Our daycare centre and registrar of births had never had a Heidi!" Dec. 20, 2006:
"H-E-I-D-I PEOPLE! NOT Hiedi or Hidee or Hidie! Thank you, that is all!" Jun. 29, 2006:
"It's my mothers name and I've only met one other person with the same. People never know how to spell it or pronounce it when reading it. It's not really that hard." Jun. 29, 2006:
"I love my name. Its a very happy name, and not too unusual, but still unique." Mar. 29, 2006:
"My name is Heidi and I think it really cool to have such a really rare name. Althought people spell it wrong all the time I still love it." Dec. 15, 2005:

"I was named Heidi Suzanne in the 50s and I wish my folks would have gone with Suzanne Marie--which is the name they were going to go with. My folks liked the book and the Shirley Temple movie so I was named Heidi. I have to tell everyone how to spell it. I'm a bit tired of that. Too late to legally change my name to Suzanne and too costly." Jan. 26, 2017:
"My name is Heidi Janette and a lot of people misspell my name. Like for example Hyde,Hidi,Hayde,Heidy and many more other ways. I have friends whose names are Heidy and Haydee (:" Aug. 21, 2012:
"My name is Heidi and my grandmother named me Heidi and I miss her she died when I just turned 5 anyway I don't like it when people call me heidi-ho but I have friends that nicknamed me hydes and I had a teacher nicknmae me hydra so I guess it isn't all bad." Oct. 25, 2011:
"I like my name, but it is very often misspelled. Heidi-Ho gets boring really quick. And what is it with people naming their dogs Heidi????
It's supposed to be a fairly uncommon name, however I had 5 Heidi's in my smallish high school. My husband's sister is named Heidi. His Dad's ex-wife is a Heidi. A Mom from my son's soccer team is a Heidi. They're everywhere!!!" Jun. 29, 2009:
"My name is Heidi, and for most of my adult life I have felt that it is a cute girls' name, but isn't much of a grown up name. It's too cutesy. And I can't even deal with one more "heidi ho" or "that's mt dog's name!"" Sep. 13, 2008:
"Heidi was a very well-known children's cartoon in Europe, which could stigmatize it if you're going to live there." Jun. 25, 2008:
"My dad thinks it is funny to say "Hi Dee" when I walk into a room. I like my name, but it always seemed like a child's name to me." Feb. 16, 2008:

"My name is Heidi, and I love it. I love having a unique name. The only downfalls would be the constant "Heidi-ho neighbor!!' and "Hi Heidi - ooh! that rhymes!!!", but that doesn't bother me." Jan. 25, 2008:
"Do you ever get "my dog's name is Heidi?" Like that's supposed to be a compliment or something." Nov. 1, 2007:
