"I love this name! I names my daughter Esme Elizabeth Marie. Yes a lot of people accuse me of taking her name from twilight....and partially I did. It also come from my Grandfather's best friends name when he was growing up. Her name was Esmeralda, and Esme is a short form, or nickname. I have not yet come across another person who shares this name, but when I do I am sure we are both gonna ask if it's after Twilight...lol" Aug. 25, 2011:

"I wouldn't want my child to have such a rare name b/c everyone will ask about it and possibly pronounce it in correctly. Plus you couldn't blame people for getting it wrong considering that only 793 people have been given that name in the U.S. since 1880! I'm not sure how to pronounce it either. I think kids have an easier time of things when they're not made to stand out too much although any name that's not too obscure will be easy for others to deal with. My three daughters are Julie, Andrea and Betty. Esme may be pretty - I just don't know how to say it:( Good luck" Nov. 2, 2019:
