"My name is Dora and I?m in my 20s (so I?ve lived with the name for long enough to know what I?m talking about). All my life I?ve been called ?Dora the explorer?, ?dodo do dodo-Dora?, ?Explorer?, etc and all of the above. I still hate giving my name out to people for fear of someone bringing up the show, but you know what? I can?t tell you how many times I?ve been told by my friends that they actually think my name is very pretty, or that they wish they had a name as unique as mine. If your name is Dora, be PROUD OF IT! You?re probably the only Dora most of your friends know and that makes you unique and special. It?s your name. All yours. Who cares if there?s a tv show with an embarrassingly obnoxious 7 year old who shares the same name? Not all Doras are the same, and I wish more people would be smart enough to realize that. Don?t let the show define who you are! It?s a wonderful name with a beautiful meaning (gift of God) and you should wear it with grace. You don?t have to like it, but it is yours. You can redefine the name by being yourself, and laugh when the dumb cartoon dies and becomes a thing of the past like all trends do.
Dora, your name is beautiful. Be proud of it!" Nov. 17, 2020:

"My name is Dora I got it from my Grandmother Birdie Dora i too hate the reference of the cartoon i was born in 1960 long before that cartoon was made and my name Dora is from Germany not latino like the brat in the cartoon ." Feb. 21, 2021:
"Dora was my grandma?s name. I?d love to reuse it in her honor. She was a wonderful woman." Dec. 21, 2020:
"My name is Anna Dora. I never liked my middle name and I sign all legal docs Anna D." Jan. 9, 2020:
"Two reason why a name like this should be avoided. Dora the Explorer is one. Another is the "Dora Monsters" of the 1992 Super Sentai program Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger (Dinosaur Squadron Beast Rangers), which is the original Japanese incarnation of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers." Aug. 31, 2009:
"This is MY name. I was named after my grandmother. i never really liked it before the show came out but then after dora the explorer i liked it even less especially because i looked just like her when i was younger. but now that im about to be 18 i like it. its alright" May. 6, 2009:
"Dora Dora Dora Dora Bandora! That's the song in Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger (pre-dating Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), sung by the Witch Bandora - better known to U.S. audiences as Rita Repulsa!" Nov. 4, 2008:
"Makes me think of the evil Witch Bandora in the 1992 Japanese programme Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, who was played by the late Machiko Soga (the character is more familiar to American audiences as Rita Repulsa in the Japanese show's American adaptation Mighty Morphin Power Rangers). It also makes me think of Bandora's so-called "Dora Monsters", plus the Bandora song which goes like "Do-da-da-do-da-dora-dora-dora, do-da-da-do-do-da-da-Bandora"." Oct. 14, 2008:
"While youngsters think of Dora the Explorer, older generations are more likely to associate this name with English painter Dora Carrington, who committed suicide in 1932 aged 39 (the 1995 film 'Carrington' was based on her life with her being played by Emma Thompson), and English actress Dora Bryan, born in 1924 as Dora Mary Broadbent. The name is mostly old ladyish nowadays, but I suppose it could make a comeback." Jun. 11, 2008:
"I have to say all i think of is dora the explorer show. Although in fairness my little one would probably love to have the same name as her fave tv character." Oct. 14, 2007:
"It was a very unique name until Dora the Explorer commandeered it. At least she's an adorable character..." Jul. 29, 2005:
