"I was named Diane Marie, by my father. The root of the name is classic, and it is an elegant name. I was born in the 50's also, when it was at its peak, but I am proud to have the name. I gave it to my daughter as a middle name.
I actually have 4 Facebook friends with the same first AND last name- so none of us are unique!" Jan. 14, 2019:
"My name is Dianne and i love it, i am 47 so it suits me. I don't know anyone who has named their child Diane though in recent years so it is not as fashionable." Aug. 5, 2017:
"I was born in '85. I like my name a lot and my husband loves it. I didn't realize that Diane was an 'aged' name until I was in my early 20s and people would say the only Dianes they knew where their parents' age or older. I find more and more how rare the name it is for my age and younger. I really don't like being called Dian-ah. I'd rather be called Di or D but when you think of the fact that Diane is only two syllables, it doesnt need to be shortened at all. No one shortens Leah or Anna" Jul. 22, 2017:
"I am a double N Dianne and I love it. There were 3 Dianas in my class but no Diannes. My mom's name is Anne and they just put Di in front of it.My mother never let people shorten my name.If anyone called me "Di" she advised me to say "Call me that again and you will." I love it because it's classic yet not common." Feb. 26, 2016:
"I was born in 1970 & my mom named me Diana! My experience is that everyone called me Diane, my family called me Annie, and one precious cousin called me d d! When I got married my husband's family called me di,bwhen I get mad at my husband I tell him it's Diana to you! I would have liked another name if I could have named myself but, sine my mom named me Diana then that made me who I am, and I love that!" Jan. 9, 2016:
"My name is Diane :). I was born is 84. Growing up I didn't like it, now I love it. I agree with the other comment about meeting another Diane especially if it's spelled the same. I hate being called Diana or di-di. My big brother calls me de-de. I don't generally like nicknames though. Not a lot of people make fun I have a few but I wont share :) would hate to give anyone any ideas." Jan. 4, 2013:
"I love the name Diane. It's my mother's middle name and she's a beautiful, amazing women. My name is Diana named after my mother's middle name Diane. : ) We are both named after the goddess of the moon. So Pretty!" Jul. 7, 2011:
"i was named in 74. it's a nice enough name for me - not too many around and there really aren't nicknames (other than Di, which i didn't hear often). in a graduating class of 400 i was the onely Diane so it's not common. i hate being called Diana, but only noticed that variation on my name by many people after Princess Diana and also as more latinos immigrated here" Jan. 30, 2011:

"My name is Diane, and I am under 40. I love my name. There is rarely a time when I am in the same room with another Diane. My biggest problem is my dad's side of the family tends to call me Diana, but I keep saying under my breath, "there is no A at the end of my name!"" Nov. 6, 2007:
"I named my daughter this name. So pretty and so uncommon now." Aug. 7, 2007:
"My mom is named Diane and it is a beatiful name. She is a very special woman." Apr. 20, 2007:
"My name is Diane and I love it. It is not too frilly or girly and it is not that common or overused. Meeting another Diane makes me feel like we share something special instead of "oh no, not another one". I also like when those closest to me call me Di. Everyone needs a one-syllable, pet name." Dec. 19, 2006:
"I love Diane. It's such a pretty name.I think I might name my babby Diane if I ever have a babby girl." Sep. 26, 2006:

"My name is also Diane Marie, as I see a few others mentioned. I was born the last of 5 children and hurricane Diane had just gone through in August. I guess my mother had run out of ideas so I was named after a hurricane. I have always liked my name and sorry that it has decreased in popularity. Hopefully, it will come back someday." "I love my name. I was born in 1955 when it was at its peak, but I don't find it to be a common name. It is elegant and sophisticated. I also like Diana and some people call me that, too." Aug. 13, 2020:
"I see a lot of elderly people called Diane , but in my case I?m 13 and have the name Diane. I don?t live in the states , so people always tend to say diana , but I correct them . So far , I have not met anyone named Diane here . My name is Diane Shoukri , and I was surprised to be the only person in my big school named this way. I am lucky to have a ?rare? name because it sometimes makes you feel good amd think that it?s your name and your name only. I like the name , but really dislike how americans pronounce it ... But it?s fine in the rest." Jun. 9, 2020:
"My name is Diane....I was christened Diane Marie in the 50's. I have always loved my name. When I was married I I danced with my Dad to "Smile for me ,My Diane".
I occasionally meet someone my age or a little bit younger and we always say there aren't many of us left." Dec. 23, 2018:

"My name is Diane. I like my name. I don't love it, but I like it. My mother wanted to name me after her grandmother. Her mother-in-law wanted me named Rachel, after her. My mother said she heard the song, Diane, in the hospital and so named me Diane. After researching my family tree, I learned that my mother's g grandmother was named Dianah. My mother said she didn't know that. I think her cellular memory got me named after her side of the family. Anyway, yes, I like my name. Think it has elegance, like Lady Diana Spencer." Oct. 7, 2018:
"I am 51 and named Diane. Growing up I never liked my name and at 51 I am slllloooowly starting to appreciate it." Sep. 16, 2018:
"My dad named me Dianne. He added the extra n because he couldn't think of a middle name to go with it. That always makes me laugh. Only my family calls me Di and I have always loved that. I never connected the nickname with death. Whenever friends call me Di it just doesn't sound right." Dec. 28, 2017:
"My name is Diann and I was born in the 90?s. I used to hate my name when I was younger but its grown on me. I wan named after my great Aunt." Dec. 22, 2017:
"My name is Diane, and I was born in the early 1950s when the name was popular. My mother, who had a very complicated and uncommon name, wanted an ordinary name for me so that I could avoid the problems she had with her name. People still want to add an extra n to my name or to put an a at the end, both of which are annoying. I always thought I wanted another name, but I've come to accept myself as a Diane." Dec. 14, 2017:
"I'm also a Dianne, and I love my name.I was born in 1956,and my mom named me Carolyn my dad named me Dianne,so yes I love my name." Nov. 10, 2017:

"I was born in 1957 and since there were so many Dianes in our school, there were always at least 2 of us in the same class at in any given year. Today ,3 out of my 4 good friends are named Diane. The fourth is named Danielle (pretty close) and I often call her Diane by mistake." Apr. 27, 2015:
"My middle name (and the one my family has always called me by) is Diane and I'm fine with it. I never got any teasing for it because you really can't do a lot with it jokingly. I was born in 1957. When I was old enough to ask how I was named, my parents told me that they couldn't think of a name to go with my first name (Eunice, after my father's mother). So a man that worked with my father suggested the name of his favorite actress/singer Diahann Carrol. My parents went with the suggestion, but not the spelling. I guess they could have gone with Carol instead, but I like Diane." May. 6, 2011:
"I have a ten yr old girl named Diane and she hates the name, she says she wishes I would name her after me(Alejandra) instead of Diane, her full name is Diane Alexandra, I think it sounds beautiful but she just doesn't like it." Apr. 5, 2009:
"I have always liked my name. When I was Very young - I bragged that I could fit the letters on one hand. -- For a 6 year old, I suppose that was wonderful.. I was born in the 50's when the name was extremely popular and there were always a few in my class. Once we formed a team in the school yard of Diane's -- of course we were awesome! My Mother said there was a popular song after the War called "Smile For Me, My Diane" and that was the reason for its popularity during those years." Dec. 21, 2008:
"My name is Diane and I like the way it is spelt. It is annoying though when people spell it Dianne. It feels the same as if your name was David and they spelt it Davvid!
I was named after my mothers doll." Jun. 21, 2007:
"My mum is called Diane and she hates it. because:
Everyone calls her "di"
Everyone spells it "Dianne"
And she thinks it's too plain" Jun. 7, 2007:
"My name is Diane and I've always hated people shortening it to Di (I always think of "die")... personally I think Diana is a prettier name. The only other Diane's I've met have been older women rather than ones from my generation." Dec. 10, 2006:
"I like the name but I don't spell it with 2 Ns. I really hate it when they call me Diana. There's no Ah in Diane!" Jan. 6, 2006:
