"For Your Info...I?ll explain that Darcy was originally a French name that ended up in England and Ireland because of a French man named William the Conqueror. He led the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. The name ?Norman? is from the Normandy region of France, where both William?s invasion and the 1944 D-Day invasion of France started from. There are place names in both France, where it was first used, and in England that include variations of the word Darcy such as Arcy-Sainte Restitue, Arcy-sur-Cure, Bois D?Arcy in the Paris suburbs and Darcey in central France plus Offord Darcy and Darcy Lever in England. As a side note, there is a huge (230 feet long and 20 inches high) tapestry in the French city of Bayeux that shows and explains the invasion from the French point of view. I?ve seen in in person and it is very interesting.
Darcy---D?Arcy---D?arcy---Darcee---Darcey---Darci---Darcie---Darcye---Darsea---Darsee---Darsey---Darsi---Darsie---Darsy---Darsye---Darzee---Darzie---etc. Or how about Darcette, which means Petite (or Little) Darcy? Or maybe Darcia? Or Darciel (Darcy from the Sky?) Or how about Darcy Rainbow (Darcy Arc-en-Ciel) in French? OK, that?s 22 variations, can anyone give me a 23rd?) Darcy as a feminine name got started in France around a thousand years ago. Oddly enough, it?s not a popular name in France these days as in most recent years the number of new baby girls named Darcy is normally less than 10 and sometimes zero.

"Darcy is a cute name. It's a great cute name. And it's one of those names on the website with no bad comments. This is a good comment. This means it's 100%. But goes down with 1 bad comment. Anyways Darcy is one of those cute names" Jan. 13, 2020:
"My little girl is called Darcey. I get so many compliments on how lovely her name is :)" Aug. 14, 2018:
"My name is Darcy. My middle name is Lee. I was born I 1964. I personally have met very few women named Darcy. I didn't appreciate having an uncommon name growing up but I Love it now. I get a lot more compliments on my name now than I did when I was young. I hope one day to have a grandchild named after me someday to keep the name in the family. I named my children uncommon tho not unusual names so they could feel unique.. Justine, Juliette, and Nico" May. 30, 2017:
"I was born in 1964 and had never met another girl named Darcy until last year. She was in her 20s and spelled her name Darci. She was named after the Barbie doll Darci. I went to High School with a boy named Darcy...always teased him that I was the real Mr. Darcy! I usually get called Marcy sometimes Dorothy but I just tell them my name is Darcy like the book character Mr. Darcy and everyone has a good laugh and remembers my name! My husband however doesn't like the idea of being married to Mr. Darcy (Smile)!!" Mar. 8, 2017:
"My name is Darcey Mae. I love my name, but people never spell it correctly! I also always get confused with Dorothy, and I also hate how I can never find a key chain with my name on it! I've only met one other Darcy before. She's my dad's cousin. Another thing: My sister always made fun of me being "the dark one." So, overall, Darcey is a great name." Apr. 10, 2015:
"My name is Darcy and I have known only a handful of other Darcys in my life (I am 52). I generally like my name because it's different and sounds a bit exotic. My name is so different that on the few occasions that I've met another Darcy I have been taken aback. I don't like that I have been called Dorothy or Marcy many, many times in my life. I find that annoying. I also don't like that I can never find my name on personalized keychains and the like. :-)" Jan. 5, 2015:
"My grandaughter Darcie-Mai was born 4 days ago, i absolutely love her name and she's dark haired to :)" Nov. 29, 2014:

"Darcy is a great name.
My Name is Darcy born in 1993!
I've met 2 other darcy's in my life!
i love my name!" May. 22, 2010:
"My name is Darcy, I am 54 years old and I have always loved my name. The only Darcy's I've known were guys. I have never known another female Darcy in my age group. My family name is Irish so maybe that's why it suits me so well." Dec. 9, 2009:
"My 1 year old daughter is called Darcey Lee, everyone comments on how nice her name is." Jul. 5, 2009:
"We named one of our twins Darcy because it's kind of rare and we just liked the sound of it. (Her twin is named Saige, so they're not a matched, rhyming set). Funny, we somehow thought her twin's name was the more rare name! Darcy is a very sunny, happy and go-lucky child so she's not exactly "the dark one" but we like it :)" Nov. 23, 2008:
"My 17 month old daughters name is Darcy. My husband and I love the name. It suits her because of her dark hair, and it is funny to see a blond Darcy, like in the show "Darcy's Wild Life". Obviously they didn't check the meaning. I have also noticed that some people think you are saying Dorothy." Aug. 18, 2008:
"My name is spelled Darcey, and most often people will forget to spell it with the "e". I love my name, and always have, because it's different, and I'm usually the only one! My mother named me Darcey from an old Soap Opera called, "Doctors" Apparently there was a Dr. Darcy. She added the "e" in just for fun. Thanks Mom!" May. 23, 2008:
"My daughter is called Darcy, and I think it is truly one of the most exceptional names in the world. I only hope it doesn't become too popular in England, as I hate the thought of my daughter going to school with 5 other children named Darcy!" Feb. 6, 2008:
"Darcy literally means 'dark' and I find it hilarious how many blonde girls are called that as well! I've never ever heard about a guy being called Darcy though. Percy maybe, but not Darcy!" Mar. 30, 2007:
"This is my name (Darcy Anna) and I love it. It is unique and I rarely meet other people with my name, but people typically spell it right and remember it. It means "dark" or "mysterious" and comes from the Irish surname D'Arcy. Once in a while, a person will misremember my name as Marcy or Dorothy, which I don't like." Feb. 15, 2007:
"I love my name. When I was young and couldn't pronounce words very well, people always thought I said my name was "Dorothy" but that has never been a problem since. It is not too common, but there are enough of us around that most people I run into have heard of the name and have no problems pronouncing or remembering the name." Dec. 16, 2005:

"my names darcy and i was born in 2005 and i feel like its an outdated name now and people always spell it as 'darcey' people used to call me arcy and dark one so i hate my name :) - people also get it confused with dorothy" Jul. 15, 2020:
"My brother's having a baby girl and is going to name it Darcy (UK). I'm not surprised it was a common name in the 70's, the name seems outdated. He's into racehorsing and Darcy seems like such a horse name, which makes sense. The only Darcy I met was stuck up, with a silver spoon in her mouth, and loved attention from boys. I hope I don't dislike the child because I dislike the name so much." May. 13, 2020:
"To me Darcy is a boys name and has been used as a girls name. I dislike this trend as it makes finding good non-common boys names harder and harder as they are now all becoming unisex or more commonly known for girls. I don't know a single Darcy and named my Boy Darcy before I even knew girls we're using it. All the books etc had it as a boys name. There have also been more famous people and fictional male characters named Darcy. Hence why I believed it to be a male name." Apr. 13, 2020:

"My name is Darcie. I'm of mixed heritage. My mom is white and my father(deceased) was Dominican. My mom was a child of the 70's and that name stuck with her. As a black little girl I experienced so much racism with my name. I kicked a teacher when she told me that is not how to spell Dorothy. I told her I knew how to spell my own name.I screamed for them to call my mother and that day my mother transferred me to a better school that could appreciate me." Mar. 12, 2021:
"I love Darcy as a feminine name, it's Fine As A
Porcupine!!! Excellent French middle names would be Darcy Chantal, Darcy Claudette, Darcy
Claudine and even Darcy Arc-en-Ciel, which is
Darcy Rainbow." Nov. 20, 2020:
"My name is Darcy. I?m only 10 so I haven?t met another Darcy before.I also have red curly hair and I am complimented on my hair and name a lot. It gets kinda annoying sometimes if you can relate." Nov. 28, 2019:
"My name is Darcy and I'm 16, I can't say I've met other people with my name. But, my mom got into a car accident with a guy named Darcy once so that was a hilarious turn of events." May. 25, 2019:
"My name is Darcy Dianne, I am 65yrs. I may be the oldest Darcy. Would like to know if there are older, with the same spelling. Was always told it was a boys name and meant dark and mysterious. Love my name!" May. 10, 2019:
"Definitely a girls name, I dislike names that are "gender neutral" names such as Kelly or Jamey. I never realized that there were guys named Darci. Seems so wrong. I would hate my parents for naming me that I'd I were a guy!" Dec. 12, 2016:
"My daughter's name is Darcy Lynn, born in 2011 in middle America. My husband and I completely love her name. It suits her because it is rare though not weird, and spunky. She has pale skin and blue eyes, yet has dark hair." Nov. 7, 2014:
"Well my name is Darcy and I love my name. But some people have called me Dorothy and D-Arcy." Oct. 27, 2013:

"i love the name Darcy <3
i have two good friends named Darcy
and it fits them well
it's one of my favorite names ever:]" Apr. 12, 2009:
"Most of the people I've met that have been called Darcy have been guys. So it's annoying when people say 'Darcy... isn't that a guys name?' And that leads me into explaining how great a name it is. I love it and I love the fact that it means 'the dark one' in Irish. <3" Jul. 13, 2006:
