"Sounds like "Cole-Let" I had a class mate in high school with the name Nicolette and she was nicked named Collette. I LOVE this name "Collette" & wanted my daughter to be named this. The way this name "Sounds" & "Looks" is AWESOME & you don't see 1,000 of kids running around with this name. I don't like "Made up" names But I certainly Don't like babt names that EVERYONE HAS either. However I had 4 boys. I named my 1st son Nicholas instead. Collette comes from the name Nicolette, which is a female version of Nicholas. My 3rd son I named Elliott because it had the "Look" of Collette I so Loved & Elliott sounds good as well. I just hope 1 of my 4 sons has a daughter & names her "Collette" otherwise I will have to get a Dog & name HER Collette!! LOL" Jan. 31, 2012:

"I didn't like my name so much as I was growing up, but I appreciate it now. I have heard it more often as an adult, however most people spell it with one "L." It turns out we do have some French background so I suppose it rather fits. It gets pronounced all kinds of ways (i.e. C-a-l-e-t, C-l-e-t, C-a-u-l-e-t, etc), but this never bothers me. A funny experience I had growing up is when I tried to call my mom collect from a phone booth (remember those? - that dates me) and the operator couldn't understand that I my name was Collette, she thought that was the type of call I was placing."
