"My name is also Cody - growing up I was absolutely the only girl that I knew with the name, despite having several classmates with the name and many, many more dogs. I met another one in college and as I got older I found more and more people who were familiar with the name for both women and men. Now that I'm in my thirties, I actually really love it. It's a nice way to extend a moment with a new person (or a quick way to understand them, I should say). When I worked in retail it was a great conversation starter. Here to say that, in my adult life, there was only ONE time that I met someone who did not have a positive reaction to my name, and that dude was a piece of crap. I didn't have to spend any more time with him to figure that out, but I did. Anyway, if you're a female Cody, welcome to the itty bitty, very age-specific club!" Oct. 12, 2021:
"I am 37 years old and my name is also Cody. I think it is a rare jem of a name, but yes - very confusing to some. It just doesn't seem that common anymore which is kind of sad." Nov. 10, 2010:

"My daughters name is Cody she is 14, she has expressed a bit of dislike to it as it is seen a boys name or in her words she says it sounds ?Odd? she is a very tall, feminine, blonde blue eyes girly girl and she is now wanting to be called Elle which is her middle name. Which is very different but I can see how it may suit her better. I Miss being able to call her Codes , however I am hoping she will find peace in either her new name Elle or feel that she can be called Cody and make it her own feminine version. Either way I will support her. She has not been made fun of with the name Cody but she has felt it was a more boyish young name which js not how she wants to be viewed as an older professional. We are from Sydney Australia" Apr. 25, 2022:

"My name is Cody and I'm a girl. Growing up many people told me it was a boy's name. I didn't mind but don't really like many nicknames. People called me "code-man" "codester" and Code. I love my name and love that it is unique." Mar. 7, 2017:

My husband loves telling people my wife Cody and he get the funniest looks cause everyone thinks he married to a guy.haha. "My name is CODY!! I am a girl! I hate it when people tell me thats a guys name!" Mar. 17, 2009:
"My name is Cody - pronounced "CO-dee". People sometimes call me Cory, and I was confused with a Jodi I knew as a child. I'm a female, and females with my name usually spell it "Codie" or "Codi" from what I hear, but neither are correct in my case. I have even had my name misspelled as Koty.
And yes, my given first name is Cody, not Dakota, so please stop asking, and thanks for letting me know that your nephew's name is Cody, too, and that your cousin has a dog named Cody.
I now attach my more feminine middle name to my first name online and on paper, so that a prospective employer or friend will understand that I'm a female before skipping over the gender question. I get comments from coworkers and customers as to how unique my name is, and I love the attention, to be honest - it also gives me a chance to reach out to people and smile, instead of simply saying, "Next please."
It's still annoying sometimes though. I've only met one other girl with a name similar to mine - she spells it "Codie" - and I personally know three boys with the name. I was a tomboy growing up, although my parents did their best, and now I'm happily married and actually starting to like the color pink." Dec. 17, 2008:
"my name is C-O-D-Y and yes I am a GIRL. Most girls that have my name spell it different so when someone ask I say it's the boy way. I think it fits me though because I am a bit of a tom boi." Jul. 8, 2008:
