  • "I will never forget all those times I was asked to spell my name out to teachers and fellow students in school. Or all those times they mistook it for 'Christine' and I had to correct them to my frustration. Most people wouldn't understand the internal joyful feeling you get when someone actually spells your name right without having it spelt out. My name is uncommon where I live and I have only ever met people with slightly similar but more common names (i.e. Kristen, Christina, Christine etc). But I kinda like that it's uncommon. It would be nice to finally meet another Christie at some point though. As a child I used to think my name was 'spelt the boy way' and that made me even more proud of the uncommonness, despite that not being true. Nobody ever really gave me a nickname; I was only known as Chris for a very short amount of time, though I'll still respond to it now. I'm not entirely sure why I was named Christie but I think it's kinda neat that I was meant to be born in December, which really fits the month with Christmas and all. My sister's name, Holly, also fits the month for the exact same reasons, so I've always seen our names as quite festive, and they complement each other too." Aug. 2, 2015: Report as inappropriate

  • "This is my name! I really like it but I can't find any good nicknames for it :/" Oct. 10, 2013: Report as inappropriate

  • "I am a writer/author and I believe "Christie" is a very beautiful way to spell your name. It's classy and elegant and very feminine, however can also be used as a boys name, though it is not used as a boys name very often or anymore these days (2013). Because of its unity as a male/female name, I have used the name Christie is the main character in story for a strong and very successful woman which will make any woman who spells it Christie very proud - Christie is a great symbol for all women. Christie can be shortened to Chris." Apr. 6, 2013: Report as inappropriate

  • "yelp I am with you all how annoying is to say to everyone it's christie with a ch and an ie on the end I hated my way name so much I useed to take the e off the end but now I think it's way better looks nicer with the ch than a k I think" Jan. 17, 2011: Report as inappropriate

  • "I love my name - CHRISTIE! My friends gave me a nick name "Tee" or as young kids find it easier to say "ChiChi" which are very different and unlike any other nick names derived from Christie. I do get very irritated when people call me Christine or Chrissy and I always correct them to call me Christ-i-e. Whenever someone asks my name I don't even pernouce it, I just out of habit now always spell it out because it is so widely misspelled. I don't care if there is stuff with my name on it .. things like that become less important when you are older though it never seemed to bother me when I was younger either. Our name is a great one love it as you love yourself! I do :-)" Dec. 26, 2010: Report as inappropriate

  • "I don't like the name Christy. I think it sound werid." Oct. 30, 2010: Report as inappropriate

  • "I love my name! too bad everyonoe spells it Christy." Sep. 21, 2010: Report as inappropriate

  • "I'm 17 and love my name and the spelling. I've met many people with my name, some spelled the same, most not. I met one of my favorite musicians, Josh Kelley, last year and he asked what my name was to sign something. After I had spelled it, he said, "That's how my sister spells hers!" So that kind of makes for a story to tell, and he obviously knows that his sister was asked many times how to spell her name." Jul. 23, 2010: Report as inappropriate

  • "I have always loved my name (CHRISTIE) No one ever spells it right and you can never find anything with your name on it, but that dosne't bother me. It is unique." Jan. 20, 2010: Report as inappropriate

  • "Atleast I was named Christine, because if I was at school and if my name was Christie, everyone would probably call me Mr. Christie. But I do wish I could have Christie as a nickname, but I can't because everyone thinks my name is too beautiful for a nickname." Oct. 4, 2009: Report as inappropriate

  • "This is my name! I've only met one other person with my name before, and she spelt it Kristy. It infuriates me though when people spell it with a K, Y, no H, whatever, and when people call me Christine or Kirsty. The worst bit is, it's short for Christian which seems to be a boys name now so everyone's like "why've you got a boys name?" and I have to tell the story of it's female origins!" • "I love my name CHRISTIE im from the island of Roatan, its too bad that most people cant spell it right." Jul. 9, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "i live in the uk and christie is not a common name here. i have only met one other christie here and i am 32 now. i love my name. it is a popular irish boys name, my mother is half irish and my father spent 10 years in the usa so both settled on the name. :)" Jul. 2, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "This is my name; ive never had a nickname because I like it so much! Even as a child, I've always insisted that people call me "christie", not "chis" or "christine" or "chrissy", etc. I've always loved my name, even though my mom has often told me that she wonders if she should have given it a more generic spelling. They decided to name me christie because the first time they felt me move was christmas morning. Then, months later, I was delivered by a man named Dr. Christmas! My family is religious, so it seemed appropriate. I love it; no matter where I go, I always keep my heritage with me whenever I sign my name." May. 9, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Christie and I love my name. When I was a child I used to get so angry that I couldn't find my name spelled correctly on pencils, mugs, etc...but, I love having a more unique spelling now." Mar. 20, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "hello. if you want to know about i will tell you. a lot of people spell my name wrong. they spell it like kristi, but it's really spelled christie. i have only met one person with the name spelled exactly like mine. but i have met a lot of people with the same name it is just spelled differently." • "I Grew Up In South Pasadena California Where There Were Four Christie's In My Classroom Every Year! Most Years We Were Identified By Our Last Names To Keep The Class And Teacher Sane ....and The Spellings Were Always Confused! Pronounciation Was And Always Has Been Easy For Most But It Seems That This Easy Name Has Always Been Plagued By Confusion, Oh And I Can Cash A Check Made Out To Christi, Christina, Chris, Christine, Kristen And So On And So On! Most People Who Read It On Paper Automatically Assume That I Am Caucasian But Upon Meeting Tell Me I Am The First Mixed Race Person They Have Ever Known With That Name - My Mom Says She Gave It To Me To Give Me A Chance To Do Anything I Wanted Without Any Judgement Before People Met Me ... It Worked." Mar. 15, 2007: Report as inappropriate

  • "I love this name! I'm biased because I am a follower of Christ. Is refreshing because of all of the Ashley's, Brittany's and Amanda. I think Christie is classic name because of it's meaning, follower of Christ." Mar. 7, 2007: Report as inappropriate

  • "This is my friends name. I love it. Only she spells it Cristie. Everyone trys to spell it Christie or Christy. She offten gets mad. I wish this were my name though." Oct. 26, 2006: Report as inappropriate

  • "I could carless for my name... I tell my mother she must have gotten it out of a gumball machine... It reminds me of a call girl. Then I just have to remind my self of "Christie's" in New York. However I tend to be a bit of a tomboy so since I was a child everyone has called me Chris eventhough I out grew my silly boyish was around 7. And I'm with the others no one ever spells it right I got to the point of just saying it's Christ-i-e... It helped me learn to spell Christmas though. ;)" Jun. 17, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "It's my name and I can't say I like it. People always spell it wrong, or add an "n" to make it "Christine," or are *convinced* that it's short for something (when it's not). As for finding things that are already personalized with my name - forget it - you'll find every other spelling for "Christie" except the one you're looking for. Meeting someone who spells "Christie" like I do is like finding someone who looks like you - it's just that rare." Feb. 3, 2006: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Christie and so many people spell it like 'christy' or 'kristy' or pronounce my name as christina or chritine when they first meet me and its really annoying and i use to hate my name being christie because no one else had the name so i felt weird but now i kind of like it because its original and unique :)" Nov. 2, 2017: Report as inappropriate

  • "My daughter who is now 42 once told me she loved her name because it had Christ in it. Her name is " Christie "" May. 26, 2016: Report as inappropriate

  • "I, too, am a Christie. I am 45 years old. My mother named me for an actress she loved when she was pregnant with me, Julie Christie. As a child, I didn't like the long spelling of my name and for a number of years changed the spelling to end with a y instead of the ie. most people assume a K at the beginning or a y at the end and many people will call me Christine or Christina even though I clearly introduce myself - i ALWAYS correct them! As an adult, I like both my name and the spelling of it." Jun. 23, 2013: Report as inappropriate

  • "heyy name is spelled christie but most people spell it annoys evry tme i hav 2 tell them it end wiv ie...i kinda of like my name cuz its a unisex name!! but it kinda of shocked me when i realised it orginated from scotland....i used 2 hate tht name but now it kinda of cool cuz there aren't many people with the name christie.." • "My name, Christie, is actually my mother's maiden name (Scottish clan out of Stone Haven). It is common in some southern (US) families to maintain links to the past by using family surnames as given names (esp if that branch of the tree had no sons to carry on the name). I lucked out, I have a female cousin named Montgomery!" Oct. 1, 2011: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Kristy and I like it spelled that way. I don't like how it is spelled with a "CH"." Dec. 4, 2010: Report as inappropriate

  • "There were a ton of baby girls named "Kristie" in the 70's, but I was the only one spelled Kristie. I remember one of grade school teachers telling me that my mom spelled my name wrong that it is supposed to be spelled with a C. I am proud of the way my mom spelled my name even if it is wrong. I am now a Head Start Pre-K teacher and I would never shame, humiliate or embarrass a child for anything what so ever! I just hope other teachers will love children and always respect them no matter how their name is spelled!" Jun. 19, 2010: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Christie but people who just meet me call me Kirsty lol anyways......i love my name :D xx" May. 15, 2010: Report as inappropriate

  • "Hey fellow Christie's!!! I always used to HATE my name because people would spell it wrong, and I only found 2 things in my whole life with my name spelt correctly on it. Buuuuut, I'm starting to like it now. Its not like I can change it or anything. I tried a nickname, but I couldnt think of any good ones... Plus too many people already knew me, and going up to them and saying, for example, 'Hey ___! Call me Christa from now on!!!' I already had a Krista in some of my classes, so that wouldnt work anyways. I have only came across someone with the same spelling once at Sea World... She was the operater of the Clydsdale Ranch, but i g2g do a paper on my name now! Bye!" Aug. 2, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "I love my name... too bad people never spell it right! its CHRISTIE, not Christy, or Kristie!" Apr. 28, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "This is my name, although my formal name is Christine. While I never disliked it, I always wished I had a more unique, origional name. Of course, unique names are now the norm so perhaps this traditional name will actually be more uncommon. I always have to spell it out since there are so many different spellings of it and people seem to have a hard time remembering it because there are so many Chris...type names. For some reason, people I have only met once before often remember it as Cindy. Go figure." Apr. 21, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "I often meet others with the same name, but have yet to come across the same spelling." Nov. 25, 2005: Report as inappropriate
