"I'm a Cheryl born in 1990 in France, although my parents are Vietnamese. My dad chose this name because he was a huge fan of actress Cheryl Ladd. I used to hate my name when I was a teenager, but now I find it pretty and feminine. The only thing that annoys me is that some people don't know how to spell it, or sometimes they call me by a different name that sounds vaguely similar. I've been called Charlene, Charlotte, Shirley, Beryl, Theryl, Cheryne... It's so silly. I love my name but I wish people would pay more attention and say it correctly." Mar. 20, 2021:
"My name is Cheryl Denise. I was born in 1965. My family calls me "Sherry". I don't have a problem with my name. I like it. I don't understand how some commenters think it is not a feminine name. It is very feminine IMHO." Apr. 10, 2019:
"I was born in South
Africa and named Cheryl snd i love my name.
It is pretty and spells fab. 1950 April.
There were 3 Cheryls in my class." Jan. 12, 2018:
"I live in the UK and when I was growing up no one else at school had the same name,so I felt very conscious of it.I hated it,but as i've got older i have really grown to like my name. I find the most annoying thing is when people call me Chh eryl and spell it as Cherly." Feb. 11, 2015:
"I love the name Cheryl. I'm born in 1991 and most people whom I met for the first time pronoun my name wrongly, and would spell it wrongly too. I don't meet others with the same name too often, in fact I've only known two other Cheryl with the same spelling as me. :)" Dec. 17, 2014:
"My name is Cheryl. I turned 50 in 2012 and do not know any women with the name that are not 50 or older. I went to school with three and to make matters worse we all had the same last name. So one was in the 12th grade,11th,10th, and I was a freshman. I love my name and hate how people don't use the Ch sound. My mom says she named me after Lana Turners Daughter and the Cheryl on the Mickey Mouse Club!" Jan. 2, 2013:
"my daughters name is cheryl, born in 2009. I think its a lovely, feminine name. and it suits her so much." Dec. 17, 2012:
"My name is Cheryl, I was born in 1995 and I love it!!! But everyone calls me Bubbles, my name is a secret shhhh ;)" Sep. 11, 2012:
"My name is Cheryl, and I didn't like it at first. However;as I got older I came to realize how pretty it is. Since my middle name is Ann they go really good together. By the way I am only 48 years old. So for all you young ones out there who don't like your name just wait until your older. Then you will see the real beauty in your name." Apr. 3, 2012:
"My name is Cheryl! I was born in 1990. I think my name has a great balance between recognizable and unique. I've only met a few other girls with my name and I didn't go to school with any of them so there was never confusion. I've never had anyone mispronounce my name. About 1 in 4 baristas spell my name with an "S"; I blame Sheryl Crow for that. I consider looking for personalized items with my name an adventure because I only see it 50%. So while it's exciting to see my name, it's not surprising." Dec. 18, 2010:
"I was born in the early 80's. I love my name.
my family pronouce my name with an 's' sound instead of a 'ch' just like the french pronounce 'cherie' or 'cher'. I don't like it when its pronounced with the 'ch' sound at the beginning, it makes it sound old in my opinion. I've not met many people with my name." Jan. 27, 2010:
"I'm a Cheryl born in the late 50's. At the age of five, I didn't like my name and asked my parents to change it. Years later, at the age of 13, I met a cousin's boyfriend; he was from France and I found him to be very interesting. He said my name was so beautiful and unique. That was enough for me! LOL" Aug. 18, 2008:
"I'm a Cheryl and I LOVE IT! When I was young, my mom told me why I was named Cheryl and talked about what it meant to be 'beloved'. That made all the difference. I also love the fact that not many people have that name." May. 7, 2008:
"I'm a Cheryl and born in the 1950's. I also have cousins with the same name also." Mar. 11, 2007:
"My name is Cheryl and I think it is a beautiful and rare name. It is nice when people say it and spell it correctly. Growing up Cheryl Tiggs and Cheryl Ladd where popular. They were both beautiful so it made me feel good about my name." Jan. 13, 2007:
"Absolutely luv it, despite of people spelling it wrong at times!" Nov. 30, 2006:

"This is my name- I was born in 1986- and I utterly abhor it. It's always sounded ugly and old-ladyish to me. Every other Cheryl I encounter is at LEAST 15 years older than me. It also gets spelled wrong a lot. I prefer Cher, even though it tends to elicit idiotic inquiries about a certain singer" May. 24, 2017:
"I unfortunately have this name. Everyone I know with it is much older than me." Sep. 17, 2015:
"Shhhuuuryl is the way all my southern cousins say my name, Cheryl. I have never met a Cheryl younger than me. My moms middle name is Cheryl, but I think it fits her, not me. Even when I say it outloud, I cringe. But don't even get me started on my middle name, UGH!" Jun. 22, 2015:
"My name is Cheryl and I don't like it at all and wonder what my mother was thinking. It doesn't roll of the touch smoothly and isn't feminine. I get a lot of misspellings. Either they spell it like Sheryl or Cherly (which makes no since to me). Anyways, if I could change it, I would in a heart beat. I, too, always thought it was an older name, but I am quickly catching up to it. LOL" Sep. 7, 2011:
"My name is Cheryl. I don't like it. Most people with this name are in their 60s. Furthermore, only English speaking people can say it. It's too difficult in Spanish, Danish, Japanese." Dec. 26, 2006:
"I dont like the name cheryl, only because a girl called cheryl slep with my boyfriend, now everytime i see a cheryl i hate them!" Dec. 5, 2006:
"My name is Cheryl and I have never been happy with it. My nickname is Cheri, and is much sweeter of a name, and fits my personality much better. I don't think Cheryl has a very feminine sound to it." Oct. 23, 2006:

"Cheryl is an old name. When I met someone named Cheryl, I think she has to be over 50 at least but closer to 60. In my graduating class it was 7 Cheryls. Most named Cheryl Lynne or Lynn, Cheryl Ann or Cheryl Marie. It was a very common name then because of Cheryl on the Mickey Mouse Club. What is really strange, all of my boyfriends called me by by last name except my EX-husband who called me Cheryl. Hmmm???" Feb. 16, 2021:
"My name is Cheryl, I was born in the 70's. My full first name is Cheryllea I was born in England and I was almost called Cherry lane, my dad loved that name but Mom said no. Lol.." Sep. 6, 2020:
"My name is Cheryl, and I love my name now that I am older. I did not care for my name when I was younger, so I called myself Cheri. That is what most people always resorted to anyway, I don't know why. But I love ked it better than Cheryl, because Cheryl is what the stern nuns always used to call me in elementary school. Friends called me Cheri, just seemed cuter and sweeter. People have always misspelled my name, especially Cherly or Cherill. Hate that. As I grew older I learned to love the name Cheryl, and use it all the time. It's a beautiful name and a dignified name." Jul. 26, 2019:
"My name is Cheryl and I?ve always hated it. It sounds like barrel and isn?t a pretty name. My dad wanted to name me Lori and I wish he had insisted. My middle name is Marie, which I like. About 10 years ago I combined my names and I like the sound of Cherylmarie much better." Jun. 2, 2019:
"My name is Cheryle (yes my mom put an e at the end).
I have met 2 other Cheryles in high school all about my age-born 12/55.
All the Cheryles/Cheryl?s have middle names of Lynn (mine) or Ann. There were a few famous beauty Cheryl?s in the 70?s and 80?s ( Cheryl Tiegs, Etc. but it does feel dated now. I think it?s somewhat of a flash in the pan popular name that will fade away with my generation .
People call me Cheryle but my pen name is Cherilyn.
I?m good with my name as I?ve heard it my whole life so I assume it as part of my identity probably just like your name . BTW I was adopted at 8 months old and I was Pamela Jean before it was changed to Cheryle Lynn." May. 30, 2019:
"Apparently I was named after my father's cousin, my mother hated the name but stuck with it, I was born in '73, never met anyone younger with the name and even my family misspell it Cherly! So now I get called Shirley as a nickname which is better than some nicknames I've had! I used to hate it and changed the spelling when I was about 10 to Sheryl as my mum had about 4 older friends who were Cheryl, but that didn't last long!
I have gradually grown to accept it even if I don't LOVE it, it's an okay name I guess :)" Oct. 26, 2018:
"I?m Cheryl and I was born in 1966. I love my name and I have one friend that calls me Cher, otherwise I?ve never changed my name or called myself Cheri. I do sometimes use my middle name Lynn, for example my Driver?s License and my Notary License. Because of this I often see Cheryl Lynn show up on other documents or mail. Having to always spell my name is a pain, but when I meet a Cheryl, I make sure I tell her she spells it the right way. LOL" Oct. 13, 2018:
"I was originally named Cheryl/Sheryl by my birth mom in 1965. Once adopted, my name became Joan (Joanie). Since discovering my Cheryl/Sheryl past, i am entertained that numerology plays out perfectly, the name meaning true friend and lover is truly me. Conversely, living as Joan, ?A gift from God? in Judiusm, is do spot on?reflecting the joy my baby self added to my parents ENTIRE LIVES. And yes, while only one other ?Joan? was in my school, and it was old fashioned...ironically, i ended up martying a Crawford, and HATE WIRE HANGERS!!! So, is it the name? If so, which one, or both?" Sep. 8, 2018:
"My name is Cheryl - born in 1959. I?m pretty neutral about it - don?t love it but don?t hate it either. My best friend growing up was Sheryl! My only dislike is it always gets misspelled - usually as Sheryl, but I?ve seen every possible spelling. I do like the meaning - Beloved!" Nov. 19, 2017:
"I actually spell it "Sharyl". I like it now that I am older, never loved it when I was younger. Cheryl Blossom from Riverdale has made the name more trendy, which I like!" Oct. 20, 2017:
"I am Cheryl but have NEVER liked my name. Born in the late 50's, I guess it fits me better now but my siblings nick named me Annie when I was very young and it stuck, thank goodness!" Jul. 26, 2017:
"I used to dislike my name when I was young. Alot of my friends tried to nickname me Cherie and Cher. I am older now and love to be called Cheryl Lynn. I always get compliments on this name. I am hoping the name comes back in style as so many old names have.I have grown to like it." Apr. 18, 2015:
"The origin of our name, "Cheryl" is from France meaning beloved. I can't pronounce it the way the French do. When they say it, it sounds so beautiful! If you're a Cheryl, love your name." Feb. 7, 2015:
"My name is Sheryl, and EVERYONE spells it Cheryl!
It's super annoying to have a name that dated you and isn't spelled the way most others spell it." Dec. 30, 2014:
"My father spelt my name wrong it should of been cherrelle but I got stuck with Cheryl I am going to change it for 42nd birthday as my middle name is Louise" Dec. 11, 2012:
"Cheryl & Matt Heffernan - Hey Dustin!! You did such an amazing job. We LOVE the piecurts; they turned out fabulous!!! We had so much fun with you at our wedding and we hope you can photograph us sometime in the near future Talk to you soon!!" Jul. 13, 2012:
"They are legit but have no heart. They charge you asmlot 300% interest and expect payment the next paycheck and if not you can extend it, which is what they want so they can continue to charge you outrageous interest. Stay away from them, they are sharks!" Jul. 10, 2012:
"I'm a Cheryl born in '79. I love my name and have only met a handful of people with it. Most common spelling mistakes include Cherly or with an S but I've never had anyone mispronounce it." Aug. 8, 2010:

"I have a friend name Cheryl, born in the late 1980's, and it suits her. Its odd, because she is the only younger Cheryl I know. The name reminds me of clueless' cher, but cheryl seems like the older vesion." Oct. 6, 2006:
"Cheryl is quite uncommon these days; I am a Cheryl and occasionally meet others although they are often much older than me. I think it's a nice name, I appreciate it more now that I am older." Feb. 10, 2006:
