"Love this name because it's a known name with a pretty spelling to it! My parents decided to take the "D" out of it (Bridgette) because for some reason they thought it was more elegant without it. You'll never be able to find your spelling on souvenirs and expect Christmas and Birthday cards misspelt from extended family. As I've gotten older I've appreciated my name more. At school there were two "Brigettes' including me and we were always in the same class. This girls name was spelled "Brigid" and so people didn't get mixed up they called me "Brishet" (if that makes sense), it sounded French." May. 8, 2017:
"I was born and named in US and grew up in Malaysia where I have yet to meet anyone with the same spelling as this. My mom chose it because it is a strong name for a daughter she didn't want a typical Chinese fate for, yet people who know me soften it by calling me 'Brie.' Didn't like it when young as it wasn't quite pretty like other girls, but I do feel it shaped me to be a lot stronger a personality and set me out to be a leader in many aspects.
Compared to harsher toned English Bridget and whimsical French Brigitte, Brigette is a firm and elegant name that sets roots for a similar person." Nov. 1, 2011:
"My name is Brigette and I love that it's spelled differently. It's unique. And now that I'm married and have changed my last name, old friends still know it's me." May. 17, 2010:
"Brigette is my name and I could not love it more. I love the spelling of this name because it feels very unique to me. I feel the way it looks when spelled is very soft and flows well in comparison to other spellings of this name. I also enjoy the fact that my name is in the French which is not often used. I was raised having it pronounced the American way, Bridget, but have friends often pronounce it the French way. I like either way personally.
My name is always spelled wrong because it is not a common spelling. Even though this is the case I am not bothered by it as much as I use to be. The reason for this is because if you truly are my friend or know me well, then you will take the time to spell it correctly.
I am often told that I have a very pretty or beautiful sounding name. In the beginning, when I was younger, I did not care much for my name at all, but who really does? As anyone grows into themselves, their name becomes more a part of who they are.
I always prefer things that are not the norm and I tend to wonder if having a none common name has anything to do with this. It is very hard to say.
I have not meant anyone else who has the same spelling of my name so far. However, I have meet other Bridget's, but not many." Mar. 16, 2009:
