"My daughter is named Ari (rhymes with starry). I get tons of compliments on her name, and a few funny looks. Having worked on the east coast before, I was familiar with the name as a Hebrew boys name, but really liked it as a girl's name. However, here in the midwest, not as many people have heard of the name. Benefits to this name- unisex, sporty, feminine, simple, pretty. Cons- people always say "airy" and/or "short for Ariana or Ariel?". My suggestion is to give your daughter an ultra-fem middle name, as I did...Ari Elisabeth" Jul. 22, 2008:
