"This is the name of my great grandmother and the Middle name of my daughter, Beatrice Alida. We prononce it the french way:Ah-Lee-da." May. 27, 2020:
"My name is Alida and I was named after my grandmother!
I am French." Jun. 13, 2014:
"My name has been pronounced a couple different ways, like "A-LIE-duh" or "Alda". Generally it's easy to get a handle on (correct way: "A-lee-duh"). I really like having this name because I'm named after both my grandmother and her mother, my great-grandmother. It's cool to share this direct link with my ancestors, both of whom have passed away since I was born. I've never met anybody personally with the same name, but I have been told by strangers that they have a cousin or something named Alida." May. 1, 2009:
"My grandmother was named Alida, I didn't know her, seeing that she died when my dad was still a child. But from what I've heard about her... she was very compassionate, caring, loving. A beautiful person inside and out. She had a big and beautiful smile. Always willing to help someone in need, even with only a smile or a prayer. I wish I could've known her personally, I think my life would have been inriched with her in it." Jun. 26, 2008:

"4th generation Cajun-French ah-lee-dah here and I absolutely love my name!" Oct. 25, 2020:
"My youngest daughter was born in 2012 and she is named Alida, pronounced Ah-LIE-Duh. This is a family name going back six generations in my family. My daughter's Great, Great, Great grandmother was named Alida. She was the only child to survive out of seven siblings. I chose this name for my daughter because it is the middle name of her Great Grandmother, Janet Alida, who just celebrated her 99th birthday. There is something innately strong about those who bear this name. My 3yr old is continuing this legacy. I have contemplated changing the spelling of her name because everyone pronounces it "Ah-Lee-Da", but to me it loses its history. So we will just keep correcting people." Sep. 4, 2016:
"My great great great grandmother was named Alida A-LIE-DUH and my first daughter is going to be named that, too:)" Jul. 23, 2012:
