"I was named Rocco after my grandfather (Southern Italian tradition). In Italy it is a common name used in two regions in the South; Calabria or Puglia. No a common name used in italy anymore. If your name this in Italy, it will indicate to someone your a Southern Italian or named after someone. Growing up in America in a time when it was not "cool" to be Italian, people would crack on the name. Today thanks to Madonna naming her son Rocco the name popularity rose. Also, today being Italian is popular in the USA so naming your son child Rocco is a good choice.
