"Maddox was named because they had 2 children already that their names started with M's. They liked baseball and there was a pitcher with the last name of Maddox. They said if they had another baby and it was boy, that would be his name." Jan. 18, 2013:

"Well I am 42 year old man. Pretty sure my name was a name before an actress named her child that. You people are funny. I've always liked my name." Nov. 14, 2009:
"I love this name & named my son Maddox. Yes, Angelina Jolie made this name popular -but that's only because no one had ever heard of the name before. I named my son Maddox, because I LOVE the name.. not bc I like Angelina. Either way, I'm glad she made it "popular"." Jul. 12, 2009:
"We love this name, my grandfater went by MAX and thought this would be a good way to keep the nickname in an uncoventenial way." Apr. 13, 2009:
"My Husband and I named our Son Maddox. It is a strong name that suits him well. I did not pick our Son's name bacause of Angelina. I simply LOVE it! However, we spell it different..."Maddex". Since Maddex was born, we couldin't have picked a better name." Dec. 22, 2008:
"Its our favorite name right now if this new baby is a boy. It does suck that so many people assume we like it only because Angelina Jolie used it. We wanted another Welsh name because our daughter is named Brynn and our dog is Rhys (coincidently) so we figured we'd keep the trend going." May. 8, 2008:
"Maddox is such a great name. Its cute and strong all at once. I know a little boy named Maddox and he is a fireball! Funny that people think of Angelina Jolie. I think that says a lot about people being too celebrity obsessed. Maddox is a very old name and has been used for centuries. No its not Tom or John in the use category but has never the less been used. Its definitely one of my favorite names and such a relief to see some masucline sounding names amid all the Cadens and Braedens!" Apr. 16, 2008:

"My sirname is Maddux. It is a patronymical Welsh name. Some say it means fortunate other say it means fortitude or son of Madoc or Madag. Ap Madoc means son of Madoc while AppaMadoc means grandson of Madoc. Similar to the Mac and Mic for Scots and Irish. The early "Petty Princes" of Wales were named Madoc. The name appears in the Mabanogion or Welsh tales from which the Ledgion of King Aurthur was taken. Ledgion says Prince Madoc came to America in 1170. There is an Epic Poem written by Southey discribing the voyage. He alledgely return and made a second voyage, this time with three ships. Prince Madoc and his companions were said to have taught the indians to speak Welsh, as many indian words are similar to the Welsh language. My family spells it with a ux It is pronounced as ryming with lux. My seventh great grandfather was a burgess in the lower house of Maryland. He spelled it Maddux as shown in the Maryland records. Other spellings are Maddox, Mattox, Maddocks and many others. It came as a great suprise to me that anyone would give their child the first name Maddox. That is why I give the first name Maddox a thumbs down." Apr. 14, 2012:

"A lot of people make comments about this name being "so 2006" and how Angelina gave her son this name, but looking at name polls, the most times this name has been used was in 2016 and is continuing to rise so, can't be that "faddish" I guess. If you love it, use it!" May. 25, 2017:

"Fad name. If that actress hadn't named her kid that, it wouldn't have shot up like that for the 2000 decade." Sep. 6, 2007:
