"My first name is Jean-Paul. I as well usually go by J-P, and kind of get pisssed when people leave out the hyphen. And yeah, no one can pronounce it!" Jan. 28, 2010:
"My name is Tanya Jean, I am a woman, but pronouce Jean, ghahn. My Dad is Jean-Paul and I was named for him. His name is never pronouced correctly, in fact I think my Grandma gave up and just went with the flow, pronouncing it Jean (like the pants). My Dad rarely goes by his name, most call him J.P. My Dad also got mail addressed to Ms, Mrs Jean etc. In fact he once got mail about menopause...it was hilarious.
Personally I think its a neat name, if pronouced correctly. It sounds better than gene(jean pants). I also love the fact that my name is unsual. I am constantly correcting people on the pronounciation of my name. When people hear its proper pronouciation, they are amazed at how nice it sounds." Sep. 26, 2009:

"If you give this name to your son, when you correct the pronounciation, just say Jean as is Jean Claude Van Damme. That's all it takes LOL." Feb. 1, 2008:
"For a male, I pronounce 'Jean' as 'zhahn,' but probably because I'm a big fan of Les Miserables." Aug. 22, 2007:
"As a French boy's name this is pronounced as something like 'zhahn', but as a girl's name in English the pronounciation is identical with the word 'gene'" Jan. 6, 2007:
