Comment left Mar 20, 2013: "My name is Esther and so many people spell it Ester or call it EsTHer which I hate, sometimes when I say it's spelled with an H they think it's Eshter SO annoying!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jan 01, 2013: "I was named Esther after my great, great grandmother. As a very little girl, I hated it and thought it sounded "scratchy". It didn't take long for me to grow to love my name and appreciate its beauty and uniqueness. It's a solid, strong, yet feminine name with significant meaning from the Bible. I get compliments on my name everywhere I go. My family calls me Essie, Es, and Hadassah for some of my many nicknames. It gets misspelled as Ester which makes me bonkers, and some people pronounce it improperly as EsTHer, but I wouldn't trade my name for anything else. I hope the name doesn't ever become too popular because I enjoy being the only Esther many people know. ;)" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Oct 11, 2012: "I don't mind that Esther sounds like an old lady name. I mind it that when I was named Esther, it was very unoriginal. Whenever most Koreans Christians come to America and have kids, they pick a biblical name. So there are many Esther Kim Esther Park Esther Lee etc. I get sick of being lost in a group of Korean Americans with a very unoriginal name. I blame the bible." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Sep 08, 2012: "I am Esther n proud of it. I love this name as it means a star which i believe has inspired me to be one.i hate it when people write it down as ester or even worse easter...people call me Essy or Estie as my nickname." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Aug 29, 2012: "I'm Esther i lyk d name cos its unique and since d biblical Esther was a strong woman i also see myself lyk dat. Some of my pals call me Hadassah for fun." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jan 24, 2012: "I'm 13 years old girl and my name is Ester. Ester, not Esther. I know, it may sound weird, but I'm from Estonia and in here, it isn't weird. Name "Ester" or "Esther" isn't really popular, but that is the greatest part. In Estonia are a lot of names like Anni(Annie in English) and Liis or Katrin or something. Some stupid children call me stupid names but I don't care. I still like my name. By the way, I know one actress, who is 19 years old and her name is Ester too." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Oct 30, 2011: "My name is Esther and i like that its unique but i have always wanted to change it to a nickname, but there are not any proper nicknames for Esther and when i try and get anyone to call me even Essie or Hettie they just laugh and say you will always be Esther and they won't and thats very annoying so no i dont like the name." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Oct 29, 2011: "i love it! and am def. going to name my little girl this in the future if God permmits me to have one in the near future. I am a christian and that has always been one of my all time favorite book in the bible!" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Apr 08, 2011: "I am Esther and I have grown to love it over the years (44) I wouldn't want to be a plain old Jane! I think it will become popular again..........." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Feb 20, 2011: "My name is Esther. I trully love my name. Am 28yrs n sometimes people just call me Essie or Essy. I dont mind" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jan 02, 2011: "honestly, i've only begun to like it until today. my name is esther and i think even though it sounds kind of blunt and unattractive at first it you think about it more it's very powerful and intelligent. There's a queen named Esther who saved her people from destruction or something. also i like the fact it's not cookie cutter name and it's very old, and there's some lasting beauty to it that can't be seen at first. I mean, names like Michelle? C'mon. i also like the fact that's there's some masculinity in it." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Dec 27, 2010: "My name is Esther, here is not very popular, i am from Spain and I love it, because the meaning is Star, and people in Europe knows the name, so i have never had a problem with it. I love it" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Nov 05, 2010: "My name is also Esther, I'm 47 years old and just recently started being OK with it (always felt it was an old lady's name) Some people do spell it without the "h" to which I always reply without an H I'm just an alcohol. Might be age but the older I get the more I like my name. Maybe it is supposed to be an old lady's name" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 29, 2010: "HI, My name is Esther and I am not old. I think the name Esther is quite popular in many countries besides the USA and I guess the reason is, that people in the US are maybe not as educated and prefer names like Cindy or Jennifer. I would say there are no good or bad names, it always depends on what people like :-)" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Mar 20, 2010: "I like it now, though most of us who bear it are old ladies. When young, I used to flirt with the idea of changing it to Estera or Astaire, but am glad I didn't. Poorly educated people never know how to spell it, but that gives the name a certain exoticism! I like the Queen Esther story, and writers Dickens, Henry Adams,Balzac, Racine & Plath have created memorable Esthers" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Dec 17, 2009: "My name is Esther Elizabeth, and I'm thinking about changing it. I'm 38, and I've never cared for how it sounds when people say it nor having to explain how to spell it. Some people pronounce it Es"th"er. I meet a lot of people through my work and would like to have a name that I feel good about saying." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Nov 21, 2009: "My names Esther and i used to hate my name because people always used to miss the H in my name and give me silly nicknames like easter or pester but i have finally come to love my name because it's so unique and beautiful :)" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Nov 15, 2009: "I have finally come to love my name but it took until I was nearly 30. It is nearly always misspelled and people who have never heard my name before think that I have said Heather and once in a loud club someone thought I said Oscar! crazy right! If I am someplace loud I just say my name is E, Es or EJ (then I get called DJ-ah I just can't win) I would never trade my name now, I love being unique." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Oct 03, 2009: "My name is Esther and am from kenya. I totally love my name. Its Syro-Arabian modification of the persian word satarah which means a star.My pals call me Essie or simply Es.my name makes me feel like a star." (Report as inappropriate)
