I don't care what your mother may have told you your name was. It's not my fault she couldn't spell. Shiela is SHI E LA, Shelia is SHEL I A and Sheilagh is just OVER kill.

But then very quickly found out that there is NO WAY that S.h.e.l.i.a says "Shee-la". So she went had my birth certificate changed, thank God! Bugs me to death when people spell it Shelia. Use your head...that would be pronounced She-lie-a or She-lee-a. Watch on movie credits or anywhere in the public forum. No one spells it that way. It is always Sheila. Shoot, just Google Shelia. No one ever spells my name right so I'm pretty used to it. One of my best friends growing up is Sheila (yep, she spells her ei) and we were given the nicknames She and Shi (pronounced Shy) because everyone got tired of us answering at the same time! We still hang together and we now get called Shiela Squared. My last job there were 3 Sheila's, the most in one place I've ever seen! I've gotten called Shelly,She-ra(by my BFF in HS),Sherry (don't know how or why),Sheils. I always wanted a different name because no one ever had that name and no one could ever think of a good nickname to derive from it and it is kind of dated.
