  • "Love my name .... I have many nicknames from various friends and love them all .... shar, sha, shaz, shazzy, big sha, sharry, sharone and some times sharon ;-) out of 10 kids in my sons class two other mums were sharons... shazlar and shaggy and I am shazza x" Nov. 29, 2018: Report as inappropriate

  • "Hated my name growing up. Bus as I got older, much like my red hair, I began to like it since it's not common and tends to stand out!" Dec. 27, 2017: Report as inappropriate

  • "I am a 53 year old Sharon! I really didn't appreciate my name until I was older. I have never had any issues with the spelling.some of my nicknames are: Sha-Sha, Sharon, and Sharona!( for those of you that know the song). I worked with another Sharon for 25 years. We were known as Sharon squared lol. After having named my daughter Katherine...so many of THOSE...I appreciate my unique name so much more.Plus it goes better with my married last name of Sullivan. I have met a few Sharon's over my lifetime only because I work in a place where I have met lots of people over the years." Mar. 22, 2017: Report as inappropriate

  • "I was born in the 50's, a true baby-boomer, and have always liked my name. Though I'm amazed at how many miss-spellings I've seen people make of this simple name! I was named by my dad who had a buddy in the US Navy, circa 1944, who also had a daughter named Sharon. Do people know that Sharon is a derivative of the ancient Hebrew name 'Sarah'? It is an ancient name, also referring to a district in the Holy Land in the bible." Jan. 25, 2017: Report as inappropriate

  • "I love my name so much! I just think it sounds so pretty! "Rose" I found is a very common name for Sharon (Hence it being my middle name). I have only found a few other people throughout my life that share my first name (never did ask them about their middle name). All of these have been older ladies, but I am okay with that. It just gives us something in common and something to break the ice for a nice conversation. I can sometimes find my name on those personalized items, but not too often. I haven't really had too many incidents with misspelling my name (my last name is a different issue though lol), but I have had to correct it from "Sharron" and "Shannon". Those are pretty too, but I love my name/spelling the best (obviously). I am not one to have/keep nicknames, but I have been called Share-Share and Share-Bear. I am not really fond of those names, but I put up with it. I don't even consider those to really be "nicknames" for me since only two people ever really use them (and only if they consciously remember to call me that). Overall, I absolutely love my name. It's short, sweet, and something that when people who know me now will see the name several years down the road, they will say, "'Sharon?' Oh yeah! I used to know a 'Sharon'!" ^_^" Oct. 10, 2016: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Sharon, pronounced "Share-ron" or "Shah-Ron". I have always loved it! People have nicknamed me Sunshine, and point out that my name means: Princess all of the time. I was named after the Rose of Sharon which I grow in my garden, and the Plains of Sharon in the Middle East. It is a Hebrew name with a long history and it rolls off the tongue sweetly but is also a strong woman's name. Every other Sharon I have met roughly 3 in my 50 years all celebrate their name as well." Jul. 9, 2016: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Sharon and I love it! I was born in the late 60s and my Mom wanted to name me Veronica but my older sisters said NO, thankfully! I do not like nicknames so Sharon works out well for that since you cannot really shorten it." Jun. 30, 2016: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Sharon. I really like it coz it makes me outstanding wherever i find myself. Most of my high school mates call me sharry. Others also call me sharonny, shar, and shaaaarrrrrrooonn which i think it's cool." Mar. 8, 2016: Report as inappropriate

  • "It's my name. I was named after the Sharon on the mickey mouse club. She was the one my sister and brother liked the most" Sep. 24, 2015: Report as inappropriate

  • "In my late 50's now, I have met many Sharon's over the years, usually only somewhat older/younger than myself. I love my name. I have often thought I'd like to spell it with a y (Sharyn) instead of the O, but that's only because I think it LOOKS prettier. The only problem I have with it is that it is nearly impossible to find personalized items with my name on them anymore." Aug. 18, 2015: Report as inappropriate

  • "asian berry goods. Much asian. much rong. so sharong. wow." Oct. 1, 2014: Report as inappropriate

  • "Well, it's MY name. My children tell me it's a name for old people (I'm 52). My high school class (230ish) had three Sharons. So at one time it was popular. It's a nice, solid name, up to me to make people think Sharon is interesting, not my name." Jul. 10, 2014: Report as inappropriate

  • "I love my name, though it's a little bIt tough to find nicknames for it haha :) I've been called Sharony, Shazza (pronounced sha-t-za), and Shoosh. It's a really beautiful name, as it can be pronounced in different accents and yet stay beautiful. It's also really young :) A similar name that is really beautiful is Serena (pronounced Sarina) but the beauty of it also depends on the family name :) ( as in Van Der Woodsen ;))" Apr. 14, 2012: Report as inappropriate

  • "I love my name - was named after Sharon Tate (the coolest Sharon of them all!) Simple name yet not too common" Apr. 20, 2010: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Sharon, I'll be 16 in May. I like my name because it is very uncommon for my generation. I have never met another kid named Sharon although I've met a few s. I'm the only Sharon in my school. I like that because this way people don't confuse me with other Sharons since there are none. I don't have to be labeled as Sharon L. or Sharon M. or anything like that by my peers simply Sharon. Nicknames I've gotten are Sharebear which I don't particularly like. But I also get called Sharrrrronnn! In voices imitating Ozzie Osborn which is fun and I like that. Things I don't like about the name are that often people's comments are, "hey that's my grandma's name" or something of the sort. So yes, it is an older name. Another thing I dislike is my name is commonly misspelled as Sharron because people are more familiar with the name Shannon and find it logical just to replace the n's with r's." • "Enough with the Sharon name haters! Sharon is an awesome name! It means forest or fertile plain. My name is Sharon. Sharon Rose." Dec. 27, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Sharon and it is often misspelled as Sharron. Not often mispronounced. I know a couple of other Sharons that were born in the late 40's early 50's, same as me." May. 26, 2006: Report as inappropriate

  • "I hate my name Sharon. I was born in Asia. Asians are very bad in spelling and pronouncing the name. They think it's funny to deliberately mispronounce it as 'Shah-Ron' - as in a guy's name 'RON'. There were always at least 2 other Sharons in almost every class I attended in college." Jul. 3, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "Yawn! Another 1930s name. To add insult to injury, I was named after my father's last girlfriend before he married my mother. My mother & this person were actually friends who knew about each other & they were OK with this. I never meet anyone my own age with this name. It's frequently spelled wrong-so many variations." • "Have a cousin who always called me Rrarron. He and the guys in my class thought he was a comedian, just oh so funny!!! Used to make me really mad and then I decided it could be worse so I just went along with it. I'm soon to be 66 and he still calls me that (not sure he even realizes that's not my name). What was fun though was my Grandma - she wasn't much on spelling and every time she would send letters or cards my name would be spelled differently. Any vowel that could be used usually was and never in the same place! I think she only ever got it right once. In my area there are lots of women with the same name including Sue as the middle (good old southern name)!" May. 11, 2016: Report as inappropriate

  • "Well, it's my name. I like that it is unique, but I'm sad that it takes such a beating. I like it much better than similar names such as Sherri or Shannon, but that's just me. As far as how it sounds, I think it's slightly pretty - no different than say something like Claire, not boring but not exotic. I think it is strong yet feminine (even though I've just leaned it's unisex) Nicknames- growing up everyone called me Shar and I've also gotten Sharbear - which I don't mind at all. Some people say it's old fashioned and I"ve never met another one in my generation and so they're right I guess, but names shift in popularity- example like Olivia and Stella were very unpopular for years and now are back- so maybe Sharon will make a comeback." • "It is my name, my Dad had it picked out for my brother, in case he was a girl, and gave it to me the next year." Apr. 9, 2015: Report as inappropriate

  • "Mine is Sharron. It is not misspelled; it is just spelled a different way. I don't like it when people spell mine with one R. I like my name and always have. Not so many of us that we are lost in the crowd. Can't say that I was ever called Sharebear, but have heard Shayyyrun." Mar. 26, 2015: Report as inappropriate

  • "I was born in 1947 and there were always many Sharon's in school. I don't see if often now but when I do I always think it is a pretty name. There isn't much kids could do to it to make it sound bad." Mar. 20, 2015: Report as inappropriate

  • "Actually I was born in the mid sixties in the Caribbean, and I went to school with many Sharons. On more than one occassion there was at least three in my class.I had at least five in my neighborhood too. I was the only Sharon Rose though. I love my name, the alternative was Sabrina." • "I was born in 1994, so I'm 20 now. I have never met another Sharon growing up at my 1000 student high school and I have still yet to meet another Sharon even now that I attend a 16000 student university. And. I. LOVE. That. Uncommon names are the best names. What's great about Sharon is that nameholders get the perks of never sharing their name with friends/classmates/coworkers, but at the same time, we also don't have to put up with misspellings or mispronunciations that often come with unique names. The only annoying thing with Sharon is that people often call me Shannon, which I think is simply because they're more familiar with that name. Similarly, the only misspelling I've received is Sharron, but the times have been few. As another young Sharon posted already, nicknames I get are sharebear (which like her I also don't like) and shaaaarrrooon! Pronounced in old ozzy's voice. A few of my guy friends pronounce my name sha-ay-ron in an exasperated exaggerated way to be funny. Finding keychains and other souvenirs with my name can be tricky, but they are out there! Occasionally I feel slightly embarrassed by my name. Through all my college introductions, nearly everybody was hearing the name for the first time and usually seemed a little put off by it. So much so that I made a habit of saying yeah it's an old people's name, trying to brush the moment off. I've also had people ask if it was a family name in a tone of pity like they felt bad I must have gotten stuck inheriting the unfortunate name. All in all, I've had a great life being Sharon. My name is never mispronounced during role calls, it's easy to say, spell, and wonderfully uncommon!" Jul. 20, 2014: Report as inappropriate

  • "I love my name!! It is in the bible. I have never met a Sharon that is my age, but i have met Sharons that are my friends moms or grandmothers haha. I love the nicknames people have given me like Ron, Ronnie, Shar, and Sharebear.
