Comment left Oct 17, 2012: "I named my daughter Kya Lanay in 93, she is 18, you couldn't ask for a more wonderful person, friend, daughter. I am part native american Mingo (mingwee) the 18th century WV. I named her Kya becuase natively it means trees in bloom or high blossom. She loves her name and it's uniqueness. Many still have trouble with it, most called Kia. She is my one and only so she needed a unique name. People don't know the sex of your babies because god/life only gives you a few suprises...Let this be one of them. She was my best suprise ever." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jan 14, 2012: "We're expecting a baby girl due May 27th 2012. We were going to name her Alena Julaine, but after hearing so many versions of Alena (ex. Alayna, Elaina, Elena..) I wanted something different. My boyfriend actually picked this name. I fell in love with it right away!! :) Kyah, we pronounce like SKY but without the "Y" and and -AH at the end. Rhymes with Mya. I added the silent "H" at the end because I felt 3 letters was too short of a name. We're going to call her "Ky" for short :) Kyah Julaine <3" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 10, 2011: "My name is Ra'Kya(Rah -Kai- yah) I'm 18 years old. My mother named me Ra'Kya because she thought it was a beautiful name. I've since changed my name to just Kya, for many reasons. One being I found the meaning of Kya means Diamond in the Sky. Another being Ra'Kya seems to be too hard for my teachers to pronounce." After that I could have no children due to cancer. Last year a friend of mine offered to be a surrogate. The best thing that ever happened in my life is miricle baby KYA." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 27, 2010: "My name is kya marie born in 1989. It has become incdedibly popular, no one had heard of it when I was young. I can understand the increase though, its a gorgeous unique name for a girl although have heard of many males with the same name and different spelling. I feel you all when u say you get frustrated when people call you or ur daughters kia haha its never going to stop! The roll call at school was the worst for me, people still call me kia today." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 19, 2010: "Kya was the only girls name I liked when I was pregnant with my daughter, and now that she's 3 it's still my favourite name in the world and I'm glad I chose it. It drives me crazy when people misspell or mispronounce it though because even though unique and somewhat unusual, it's such a simple short name, it should be easy to get right." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 12, 2010: "my daughter is called KYA, which means diamond in the sky(not spelt any other way because it would have a different meaning). most people dont say it right, but we are getting there slowly." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 19, 2010: "I'm so glad to see that others have spelled this name as well as pronounced it the way I will. I am expecting our first and if its a girl I will be naming her Kyah Marie. I first heard it on Willow & loved it. Thanks to all for the encouraging comments!" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Mar 17, 2010: "I am 14 now, and my name is Kya. My parents are completely unaware of why they picked that name, although I used to thinki was named after my grandma's niece, Kaia- it is pronouced the same as my own name. I have actually met around 5 or 6 people with my name, but not a single one is spelled the way mine is. It makes me feel unique, but at the same time blended in. I love it, but i wish people would stop seeing my name tag and saying "well thank you, kee-ya (that beeing how they pronouced it)" really people! its not spelled like the car and it is not said like the car!" When i was in labour with her a south african lady said that in the part she was from Kya meant "home" which i thought was lovely but i have seen lots of posts on here saying it means "diamond in the sky" i think that is absolutley beautifull!! Iv'e got a 9 month old little boy who i have named Aston, all iv'e had so far is "oh did you name him after the Aston Martin" grrr lovely car but no lol." (Report as inappropriate)
