  • "I?m actually a fifth generation Exa, it can be traced back to my great great aunt, then great grandmother, then my grandmother, then my aunt, and now me. I?m not sure where it comes from, but I don?t really care. It?s my name now, and I?m proud to lay claim to it. I do plan on naming my daughter Exa as well, and so does my cousin who?s middle name is Exa, so the tradition is being carried on. I?ve read the past few comments, and they?ve spoken about being bullied for their name in one way or another, but I?ve never been teased about it to my face, in fact my friends like my name a lot. I?m Texan as well and I tell people the same thing about it being a Texas name, it?s always weird when people wear Texas shirts and I see my name on there then think wait what before remembering my name is in Texas and realizing they?re wearing a Texas t-shirt." • "My name is Exa. I was named after my great grandmother who named herself. She was the youngest of 18 and was not given a name, but was simply "Baby Girl." When she was 11 or 12 she named herself Exa because it was a popular name at the time. I've met two other Exas in my life. One was a friend's grandmother who lived in the same town I grew up in. The other Exa I met via Facebook. I know someone who grew up across the street from an elderly woman named Exa as well. I love my name. It was difficult as a child to always have to correct people, spell it, and give the back story. I was teased about it, but I feel like I wouldn't be the same unique, creative, and fiery person if I'd been named something "plain Jane."" Feb. 3, 2015: Report as inappropriate
