"My name is spelled Elyse and everyone that reads my name out loud calls me "Elsie" as well, and that was very annoying when I was a young girl on the first day of school. It's like people get dyslexic when they pronounce my name. Whatever, I love my name and think its beautiful." Jan. 27, 2008:

"I prefer Elyse to Elsie spellings-wise, but it just seems to become a novelty when we have cover teachers or just general teachers who pronounce it wrong, as Elsie, Eilish, Alicia, Elysey, Elysia, Elice or whatever else they manage to come up with! I don?t hate my name, but for simplicities? sake I prefer to just be called Ellie or El" Jun. 17, 2018:
"My name is Elyse and my parents named me after Elyse Knox. Like most Elyses I've met, I've been called "Elsie" most of my life! (It also didn't help that my mother's name is Elsie.)
However, I've noticed that in the last 20 years, there are fewer mispronunciations of my name, thanks to the television show, "Family Ties". I met a young girl last year who was actually named after the character played by Meredith Baxter. We both enjoyed lamenting about being called "Elsie".
I like my name, however, and have always felt that it suited me. Actually, the older I get, the less annoyed I am about the mispronunciation.
"Fellow Elyses": don't get too bothered when people can't pronounce or remember your name....maybe it'll be a common one some day!" May. 6, 2008:
"My daughter's name is Elyse, but many people pronounce it wrong. Every year on the first day of school she comes home and says "They called me Elsie again." It doesn't bother me much, but it seems to bother her. It's pronounced E-lease, not El-see." Oct. 25, 2007:
"I am starting to like this spelling more than Elise. Nice name." Jun. 19, 2007:
"My name is Elyse, and people are always getting it wrong. They say it wrong or spell it wrong. I'm used to correcting doctors and teachers and stuff. I love my name, though. It's unique." Dec. 9, 2006:
