"Ellen is a decent name, it reminds me of the character of Ellen in the Garfield comic strip, from Wikipedia it says
"Ellen (first mentioned in November 9, 1990) is a local woman whom Jon often tried to go out with. Originally, she was also an unseen character in the strip as well; most Ellen strips originally centered on Jon speaking to Ellen on the telephone, attempting to ask her out on a date. In a 2006 story, Ellen appeared in the strip after Jon convinced her to go on a date because she had amnesia and couldn't remember how much she despised him. She was persuaded to go on a date with him, and on July 20, 2006, the strip finally showed her as a blonde woman with a striped dress." Aug. 12, 2019:
"I am an Ellen, and I love my name. Most of the time I go by Elle, but at work I'm Ellen. It's a family name that I'm proud to carry. I like it because it's short and unique here on the West coast. I like being the only Ellen anywhere I go." Jan. 4, 2019:
"I'm Ellen Andrew, and I love my name! I changed my name a few years back to add a first name, but I couldn't bring myself to get rid of Ellen or to change it. I've never met another Ellen, though." Apr. 10, 2017:
"My name is Ellen. I wasn't too fond of it growing up but like it much better now that I'm older. Ellen is a family name that goes back many generations. I am proud to share my name with some of my ancestors. I too have been called Helen which I don't like." Mar. 31, 2016:
"I love being Ellen. I was born on the west coast and never met another Ellen until I was in my 20"s. I don't like being called Helen at all. I spell my name for people Im just meeting a lot because of this, Ellen, with an E." Feb. 17, 2016:

"I love my name. It's very cute and feminine although my name often gets mistaken for Helen initially. I haven't met many people named Ellen so I consider it unique." Sep. 20, 2008:
"My name is Ellen and I am very pleased with it. It is a classic feminine name." May. 31, 2008:
"i love ellen. my name is not ellen. ellen is cool. i wish i were ellen. hi ellen." Dec. 20, 2007:
"I didn't use to be crazy about it because it's not a cute name and I grew up with Nancys and Susies and Debbies. It just seemed so serious. When I got to be older I was glad that it wasn't very common--at least it didn't use to be! Now it seems to be very popular as the name of characters in books and I've noticed a lot of Ellens in the credits at the ends of movies. I don't know why." Jul. 20, 2007:
"My mom's name is Ellen. I think it's nice and pretty traditional." Sep. 17, 2006:
"Ellen is my name and I've found that I would rather be named Ellen than some sort of fad name. I think it's a nice name." Aug. 12, 2005:

"It's so boring. And, yes, people call me Helen, Elaine or Allen. I met my first Ellen when I was 20 and I've only met a couple since then. I was supposed to be Suzanne but my parents changed it at the last minute. I like Suzanne much more than Ellen." Aug. 20, 2017:
"it's just an unflattering name. please reconsider naming your child this" Apr. 28, 2017:
"gross makes me want to through up plz don't name your child this" Jun. 25, 2015:
"I was born in 1947 and never met any one with the first name Ellen........until recently that seems to have changed but I am not used to sharing my name, so it feels strange when I see it being used ........" Mar. 9, 2015:
"I cant stand it..Such simple name yet no one knows how to say it.. 75% of the time Im called Helen" Dec. 4, 2007:
"It is my name. I occasionally have people think it is Hellen or even Allen, and there is rarely any problem finding merchandise that sports it, and spelling is never an issue. I have only met two other Ellens. I have simply never liked the sound of it. But since I was named after my Grandmother Elenore I suppose I should just be thankful it was altered for me." "My name is Ellen. I actually really like my name! I was named after my grandmother, Mary Ellen. I like how it?s unique and different, but it?s not used much for merchandise, which is annoying. My brother has a much more common name. So anytime I see something with my name I have to pick it up. If you want to name your child Ellen, please consider! You?ll not regret it!" Aug. 11, 2019:
"I like my name, sometimes I think it sounds weird but overall I like it. It?s so nice to hear when people love their name but reading the comments a lot of people mention that they are mistaken for Helen
I don?t have this problem but I might in the future, I am not often called Allen but sometimes I am
Overall I like it and even love it however it?s hard to find things like water bottles with my name on or t-shirts just in a shop" Feb. 13, 2018:
"My name is Ellen and it's a family name. I actually can't stand it because when people say it they give it an annoying tone or call me Eleanor which isn't my name. I wish I had been named Kathryn which is my middle name because it's not an annoying name. When I move I'm going to go by Elle." Mar. 14, 2017:
"I am actually Elen (one L because I'm Welsh) and people always spell it the English way and also think it's Helen or it's short for Elenor/Eleanor/Elena or Helena! which can be quite annoying. I like that mine is more unique than with two LLs and I don't know many girls with my name. It means 'light' or 'bright one'. In Welsh it is a elf-like creature." Jan. 21, 2010:
"Weird. My name is Zoe Ellen, also. I live in the U.S., though." Mar. 7, 2009:
"i think it would suit someone with a quite personality who was quite smart. I have never met a noisy Ellen and i believe the name would not suit such a person." Aug. 7, 2007:
"My name is ellen and i love sunshine! thats my nickname... Lalalalalala :]" Jul. 31, 2007:
"this is my name. i do have problems with people calling me Helen or Elanor and i don't really like it but it's not the worst name" Dec. 1, 2006:
"I rarely find anyone on the West coast named Ellen. It seems much more an "east coast" name. I grew up there, and always had at least one other Ellen in my class.
I find that I'm often called:
Allen" Mar. 20, 2006:
"My name is Ellen. Or rather Ellyn as my dad spelt it. I have never EVER met anyone with the same name as me except 2 Ellen's one was my great grandma and my second grade teacher. Talk about special =)" Nov. 28, 2005:
