  • "My name is Diana I am 63 and always liked It. It?s not a common name , not many people have it. When people call me Diane, I just say just say, ?a?. I say it?s Diana. My granddaughters middle name is Diana also and I love that. It fits her name perfectly. It?s just a simple name and it fit my personality with its meaning perfectly. I?ve been called Lady Di and Lady D" Oct. 30, 2019: Report as inappropriate

  • "My father tells me I was named Diana at the last minute for Princess Diana of Wales, a respectable royal who was present in the charity scene and more. It makes me happy! :D The name itself gives me confidence, though I've had to switch between the English and Spanish pronunciations of my name a lot due to my origin country. The thing that probably bothers me the most about having the name is the lack of a good nickname that you can give (Unless you want to be called Die-Anna, A.E. this one's for you). Overall, I love my name! :D" Jun. 1, 2018: Report as inappropriate

  • "my name's diana, and i love it! reminds me of wonder woman (diana prince). as most everyone else, i HATE being called diane! why when you say your name is diana and write it as diana do people call you diane? this has given me some new ways to handle and correct people when they call me diane. there's nothing wrong with the name diane, but it's not mine!" Dec. 31, 2013: Report as inappropriate

  • "Hi ! My name is Diana. Usually friends call me Didi/DeeDee but my cousins call me Dia. Since I can remember, people wrote and pronounced it wrong! Since I'm from Croatia, they wrote my name Dijana which I hate most than anything and since I first started to talk I correct them. When someone asked me what's my name I would always say " Diana without J". I actually love my name. It's not that common and sounds really 'heavenly' ;))" Dec. 23, 2012: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Diana Elizabeth and I love it! It's a gorgeous name and I've always gotten compliments on it. I'm named directly after my great grandmother, Diana Elizabeth, who was born in 1888, so the name is timeless. I think it sounds regal. I dislike it when people call me Diane. It sounds blah, or plain. But Diana sounds like royalty. I go by Di with my family." Dec. 5, 2012: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Diana I love my name :D my mom calls me Princess Diana and i just love it <3" Jan. 23, 2012: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Diana and I LOVE it! Yeah I get called Diane a lot too but I actually like it. Many people don't know that it's the same name, it's just the French language translation. Both forms mean "Heavenly, Divine" so I think they are both cute. Plus Diane is my mothers middle name, I was named after her. We are both "Divine". :p" Jun. 1, 2011: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Diana also, and I was born in 1983. I cannot stand when people call me Diane!! They're leaving out a whole extra syllable in my name, trying to take a shortcut in saying it or something! I hate it so much! My name has an "A" at the end not a silent "E!" ARGH!" Mar. 16, 2011: Report as inappropriate

  • "my name is diana and i love it i hate been caled diane i get called diane by some of my family and some spell my name dianna my name is diana and i am proud of it" Jan. 22, 2011: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Diana Marie, and I can honestly say that I really dont mind being called Diane, DeDe, De, Didi, Di, and my favorite Dana (my cousin when he was 2 couldnt pronounce "Diana.. It came out Dana.. And then that just stuck as my nick name for all my little cousins.. Im the second oldest of 18 grandchildren lol) I have been called Diane by many people.. Icluding family... Teachers... Friends... And my boyfriend and his dad.. When i have people ask me what i prefer to go by.. I laugh and say.. You know it really doesnt matter.. Ive had so many nicknames over the years it doesnt really bother me lol.." Jun. 23, 2010: Report as inappropriate

  • "I love my name! People mispronounce it all the time. It is not "Diane"! Otherwise, it is a great name. Princess, Goddess, Diva, Superhero, lots of awesome Dianas." May. 12, 2009: Report as inappropriate

  • "I am a Diana and I love my name! I'm a 25 year old wife & mother of 3 from Florida (transplanted to Georgia), to help you build a picture of a Diana. It's sort of uncommon as i've only met a handful of Diana's in my life. All of them have the same pet peeve as i, which is getting intensely mad when you are called "Diane". There is nothing wrong with the name Diane, it's just not our name! And i'd say that about 60% of the time when anyone writes my name it is mispelled. Even my best friends get confused whether or not it has one 'N' or two, like 'Di' and 'Anna'. Most mispellings i get are 'Dianna', 'Deanna', & 'Diane' or 'Dianne'. Now on the other hand, my husband is part Mexican, so anytime we visit his Mexican family back in Texas, i always get called 'dee-AH-nah', which i joke is only acceptable from our Mexican family & friends. Oh, and as i child, i loved visiting this restaurant that had a 1950's style jukebox in it because i would beg my mom for a quarter so i could listen to Paul Anka's song 'Diana'. Then, as an 18 year old working at the movie theaters, my boss started singing "Dirty Diana" to me. I had never heard that song before, so you can imagine the ideas of sexual harassment lawsuits that were beginning to form in my head. He saw the confused and offended face i was making and figured out i didn't know that it was a Michael Jackson song. You can assume that i know about the song now. I'm going to share a ridiculous story about how i got my name. A Friend of mine years back thought he had figured me out when he said that i was probably named after Princess Diana since i was born in 1983 (just after the big wedding and all). As much as i wish that was the true inspiration, it's not. When i was a teenager my mom told me the hilarious truth in my name. Her & my dad thought they were having a boy. Or so that's what the 1980's sonogram technology had assured them they were having. So they were completely caught off guard when the doctor said, "Congratulations! It's a girl!". They hadn't picked any names for girls so they had to start from scratch. My mom LOVES feminine names but my dad is extremely particular. After dad turning down all of mom's many suggestions, she retreated to her hospital room to ponder up some more. There on one of her hospital grade sanitary napkins it said "the Diana Company" on the paper part. My mom soon after asked my dad how he liked the girls name 'Diana' and he did! As a teenager i was mortified when my mom revealed that to me and i had never wanted to tell anyone. But now as an adult and a mom myself, i can look back and laugh at the story that is uniquely my own. And by the way, i just did a search for the Diana pads and found out they still make them! They have to be imported from Turkey, so i guess that's why i've never seen them." Jan. 25, 2009: Report as inappropriate

  • "Hi everyone, I am a Diana too! My dad gave me the name when I moved to Canada 20 years ago. My Chinese name means the moon and Diana is the goddess of the moon. Perfect fit! My friends call me Di. I donýt mind so much when people call me Diane, but I hated when they call me Dee." Dec. 18, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Diana Lynn. I am always getting people spelling it wrong...like with 2 n's or Diane. I hate to be called Dee-Dee. I don't mind Di so much. My closest friends call me that. My mother named me in 1948, when I was born, after the late, great actress, Diana Lynn, who some of you may know as starring in many older movies, among them "Bedtime For Bonzo"...with the late Ronald Regan and the Chimp ;-) I love my name and wouldn't trade it for the world. It's also the same as Lady Diana's...so I felt extra close to her when she was alive." Oct. 22, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Diana, and I love it very much! My dad named me because he thought it sounded really pretty, which I agree. I hate it when people call me Diane or misspell it. Ugh! Anyway, I love my name!!! :D" Oct. 22, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "My parents are Croatian, where it's normal for names to end in a extra syllable, I too find it frustrating when people sometimes call me "Diane"..I really don't get why people find it so hard to pronounce the last syllable. It's peculiar that it only happens in the US, Europeans never called me "Diane". I think of the name as a European version, the original version, it also exudes elegance and feminine beauty." Dec. 25, 2006: Report as inappropriate

It's very feminine and when people read it it just sounds pretty. I've had many nicknames over hte years with this name like Dia (deeuh,D, and Lady D." Apr. 18, 2006: Report as inappropriate

  • "I also love my name and try to get people to remember that it is Diana and not Diane by telling them it is just like Princess Diana. I have never heard anyone call her Princess Diane! When I was a preschooler, my sister would introduce me as her little sister Diana. The stranger usually said "Hi Diane," to which I replied, "Uh!" :)" Jul. 26, 2005: Report as inappropriate

  • "This is my name, and I am called Diane on a daily basis. It does get frustrating that people can not seem to pronounce one extra syllable- but that is mostly my only complaint with the name. I think it is a great name in it's history if only I could just be called Diana. And I do not meet too many people with my name- they are mostly "Diane's"." Jun. 14, 2005: Report as inappropriate

Well I feel so much better knowing that it apparently comes with the name. I also have the same problem with people doing that stuff to my childrens names. I tell them that if I wanted them to be called these other names that I would have named them that, so stop. I was born in 1983. I have 4 kids. I am a people person. I think that I'm a very loving, yet emotional person. I'm slender, but not an athletic type. I am also a christian. Not sure what other things about.
