"Another Cynthia Ann here. I usually go by Cindy, but have been called Cindy Ann, Cindy Lu, Cinders, Cinderella, etc. I like both Cynthia and Cindy, the first sounds proper and lovely and the latter sounds happy and bubbly. Friends and family always shorten it to Cin or Lu. Starbucks employees always write Sydney on my cup. It sounds close enough. Didn't meet anyone else named Cindy until college, where I promptly met several Cynthia Ann's. I've since met several Chinese women named Cindy." Apr. 12, 2015:
"My name is Cindy and I love it :3 I'm Asian by the way :)" Mar. 2, 2015:
"my name is Cindy and i love it! my family calls me Cindylee because lee is my middle name but i feel very feminine and sweet" Feb. 18, 2015:
"My name is Cindy middle name Ann. Many assume it's short for Cynthia which I don't care for. Growing up my best friend's name was Wendy, her sister's name is Cindy. But we were pretty much the only Cindys we knew. I went through a stage as a teenage where I hyphenated it Cindy-Ann. I do occasionally get called Sandy, always thought it was because people misunderstood my southern accent. I've always liked my name. I haven't heard any babies named it though. Maybe it's time for a comeback!" Jul. 19, 2013:
"My name is Cindy Ann, when I was in grade school my teachers call me by my complete name, in highschool some close friends started calling me Cinz or Cindz to shorten it. Last year a classmate in the University approached me and told me that when the name "Cindy Ann" was called she was rather expecting a petite young girl smaller than her, to her surprise I was way taller than her, told me that my name doesn't suit me; I didn't care anyway. And just recently, a new friend started calling me by my second name "Ann". It's just funny to think that lots of people have many ways of calling me. I think that's cool! I love my name! Those are the most beautiful words I would never stop loving to hear." Jan. 21, 2010:
"My name is Cynthia but I usually go by Cindy. My grandmother called me Sydney for 28 years, until the day she died.
Cynthia is for legal things and Cindy is my casual name.
I have met several Cindy's in my life. I was a preschool teacher and both the teacher's were Miss Cindy. At least the kids (two year olds) only had to remember one name. :)
When I order food on the phone at a certain ethnicity place they always put it down as Sandy. That annoys me!!!" May. 4, 2009:

However, I have noticed there are a lot of asians named Cindy. Weird... Anyway, it isn't a bad name. It is cute. it reminds me of a 1950s name or something." May. 14, 2008:
"My name is Cynthia, and I go by Cindy. No one has ever mistaken me for Candy as the other comments say. I like that I can have a longer formal name or Cindy for short. I am 34 and have never been teased and always liked my name. Overseas people say "oh like Cindy Crawford" so that is not a bad association either. haha" Dec. 30, 2007:
"Cindy is a cute name but Cynthia sounds so strict and annoying." Mar. 9, 2007:

"To the "Negative" person that said she hates her name and can't imagine being called Grandma Cindy or Aunt Cindy. REALLY??? I am called both all the time and have no problem with it. Maybe she just doesn't like herself, and that is what she is really having the issue with. It's not the name at all." Jan. 14, 2019:
"Cindy. I love my name. I work with special needs pre school and they call me miss Candy..I wouldn't change my name for anything as my beautiful mother gave it to me." Jul. 11, 2018:
"Hi! My name is Cindy Lynne, aka, Cin-lee. My grandmother jumped shotgun on my mother and named me before she could. My mother was going to name me Cynthia Lee, ain't that a bxxxh! I have been called a variety of names, from Cindy Lou, Sandy, and Sydney. I am Irish, and find it surprising that Cindy is a popular Chinese name as well. Awesome! I have a deep southern draw; therefore, because of the misunderstanding most of my mail comes in the name of Sandy or Sydney. I am 46, and Cindy for a name is O-kay because it assumes my youth. People hear my name and draw assumptions that I am mere chick-a-dee, that's O-kay too. Here is a fact that all you Cindy's out there might like. Those with the name Cindy has a deep inner desire to serve humanity and to give to others by sharing money, knowledge and experience, or creative and artistic ability. Anyway, I think Cindy is pretty cool! :)" May. 20, 2015:

"I'm named Cindy and I'm also a Chinese-American like some comment above is.I am having a struggle in name calling at my school, since people tend to call me Cindy Bindy, and more recently, Cindyrella just to annoy me. It seemed to me as if Cindy is a name that doesn't have a cute nickname, but there is one that isn't that bad that my friend made up which is CinDin." Apr. 21, 2008:
"I was born Cynthia, but I only answer to Cindy. Cindy suits me much better. I've always liked the name Cindy. My twin sister's name is Cherie. Thank God, my mother didn't name us Cindy and Mindy. She came close. Cindy" Apr. 4, 2008:
"My name's Cindy, and I've always thought it sort of blah. It's not that popular these days, but being a Chinese-American, I also know quite a few other Cindys who're Chinese as well, mainly because the name is easy for Chinese families to pronounce. So amongst that population, it's not such a unique name to give a baby!" Jan. 7, 2008:
