  • "I'm 19 and I'm named Beverly and I love it!! It's very unique without being silly sounding. I hated it when I was younger though, I always got called "Beverly Hillbilly" like others have commented." Jun. 19, 2017: Report as inappropriate

  • "When I was little I HATED my name! I always got teased about The Beverly Hillbillies and called Beverly Shmeverly. There were only three names my father had chosen, Ursula, Phyllis and Beverly. Ursula after of Ursula Andress who had appeared in a James Bond film some years earlier. Phyllis after a favorite aunt of his and Beverly, just because. Well Beverly was the only name on the list my mother could stand; so when my father wasn't at the hospital she filled out my birth certificate and named me Beverly. I was always the ONLY Beverly in school. All 8 years of grade school and all 4 years of high school; and there were 3800 kids in my high school. When I was in grade school I made people call me Beverly, (there were two Beths' in my class) however around Junior year in high school I began allowing people to call me Bev and now I am comfortable with it. That said, high school is about the time I began to accept and even like my name. It was cool to be the only Beverly all four years of high school. Better than being one of the 3 or 4 Jennifers' or Michelles' in every class! I still think Beverly is a HORRIBLE name for a little girl however since we spend the majority of our lives as adults it's perfectly fine. I never met/meet anyone my age named Beverly and people say, oh that was my grandmother's name or less often, that's my mother's name. That's fine with me, I enjoy having a unique name!!!" • "Like the name, because it is different. Have known a few other women with the name... Once worked at a department store, the HR director had and sister named Beverly and hired many women with that name... at one time there were 5 Beverly's working at the same time.. got kinda confusing." • "is pronounced Beverly !!!is a wonderful name it's my name to be exact is the best name in the whole wide worldis very hard being call Beverly when no one elses but there is a disadvantage because when when someone calls for you then you always know that the talking to you" Feb. 9, 2015: Report as inappropriate

  • "This name may not suit everyone, but it suits me and is appropriate to my generation. In fact, it was one of the most popular names in the early 1950s, when I was born. Sometimes I do get called "Deb" or "Beth," which is a bit annoying. Let's put it this way: At least I'm not one of the 50 million Jennifers and Jessicas of the 1980s...." • "I am PROUD to have the name, "Beverly"! I am unique, goofy, happy-go-lucky and down to earth! For those who say it's an ugly name probably have ugly names themselves and have to make fun of others to try to bring us down. And for those who say it's masculine sounding? Let's just say,the only male I know of who had the name of Beverly, was George Beverly Shea, the great musician/singer with the Billy Graham Ministries. I do DISagree with it being masculine! It takes someone strong to carry the name. I've heard other beautiful names, but those of us sharing this name are extra special! Rock on BEVERLYs of the world!! signed - Beverly Jeanne" Jun. 20, 2014: Report as inappropriate

  • "I get Debra Lee a lot over the phone. People don't forget my name I always tell them just like the "Beverly Hill Billies" I have known very few Beverly's. I am sorry to see it not used much anymore. My Daddy named me after an ex fiance'. People use to remember me as Barbara all the time till I started using the Hillbillies. I like my name" Apr. 1, 2012: Report as inappropriate

  • "I love my name. It is classy, unique, beautiful, feminine, and perfect for me. Go Beverly!!!" Oct. 19, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "Hello fellow Beverlys!!! We have a great name - let's wear it with pride!!! P.S. The ones who say they "hate" it just don't have what it takes to carry it off (and they can't spell either)." May. 17, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "Beverly is an elderly woman with no self-awareness and lacks empathy for the suffering of others. Beverly is trash." Dec. 5, 2017: Report as inappropriate

  • "I have never liked my name. My father named me after a ex girlfriend he used to gamble with. I didn't meet another Beverly until I was 30 years old. Then met 2 at the same time. My mother wanted to name me Selena. I wish she had because that is a beautiful name to me. But I was born in 1966 and I read somewhere that there was only 123 babies named beverly in 2012. I don't think Beverly ' s are goin to be around much longer." Apr. 9, 2015: Report as inappropriate

  • "I always hated my name, Beverly. I was called "Bev" most of the time which was worse--Bev, Biz, Fab, Duz, Lux,I sounded like a detergent or a soap. I was horribly shy because of my name. I was born in the 1950s but there was never another Beverly/Bev until I got to high school, and still only a few in a big h.s. But I'm old now and stopped caring decades ago. Reading this was so nice. So glad people don't feel the way I used to." May. 31, 2020: Report as inappropriate

  • "I am a Beverley and I love it. I have met some other Beverley's around my age give or take a year. I was named by my grandfather who was a Yorkshire man and on his way back up north when I decided to arrive 6 weeks early. So here is to all you other Beverley's your name is unique and in a decline but we are who we are love us or hate us. Who cares be happy and always have a glass half full not empty. Be positive and eventually we will all find happiness no matter what our name is" Jul. 6, 2018: Report as inappropriate

  • "I too am a Beverly my middle name is Lynn. One of my best friends is also Beverly Lynn. In high school the other Beverly was Beverly Sue. I was named after one of my parent's friend." Apr. 19, 2018: Report as inappropriate

  • "I have always felt Beverly was an old ladies name. But I guess I am growing into it! I wish I would have used a nick name. I do not have a middle name or I would have used it instead. I hated telling people my name, High school was the worst. I think a name like Beverly caused me to shrink back and not want to be called attention to. My mother let my grandma name me. Ok having said that I'm older it's just not a big deal anymore except when your applying for work people always assume I am old! Lol" Aug. 18, 2017: Report as inappropriate

  • "I'm called Beverley everyone always spells it wrong, the only person I really liked calling me Bev was my dad, I can never get personalised items from shops as it was always spelt ly instead of ley" Jul. 22, 2017: Report as inappropriate

  • "My mom's name is Beverly, and I think it is a unique and elegant name. She on the other hand, does not seem to care for it, and opts to go by Billie." Nov. 13, 2015: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is spelled Beverley. Rarely does anyone EVER get it correct! I introduce myself as Beverley (which I prefer, but then I get called Bev, which I dislike very much). I find myself having to correct people ALL the time. So annoying. I wish I was called Barbara or Brenda." Aug. 11, 2015: Report as inappropriate

  • "Well I'm. 22 and have the name Beverly. I like it over all I think it's very pretty however it is kind of old for my age. My dad named me Beverly after the Beverly hillbillies :( and my mom agreed because it is a pretty name. I haven't met anyone else named Beverly other than like 3 people that are no younger than mid 50s that kind of upsets me. Lol. But over all Ii like different and its defffinrntly different!!! Lol. I" Jun. 19, 2014: Report as inappropriate

  • "My name is Beverly, after my grandma's friend who was close to my mom. Which is totally okay, but I've never really especially liked my name, as the nicknames are limited: Bev (Masculine sounding to me), Bevy (Childish/intimate), or, worst of all, Bubba. It's odd to be called by my full name all the time while everyone else has shorter nicknames, especially with a name that sounds kind of long and formal. I also find it sad that I never find anyone else my age with the same name. It feels a little lonely, although it's good to be unique, I guess. Beverly Hills gets to be a REALLY old joke, once people start singing the song and everything, like I haven't heard it a million times. I also wish it had a prettier meaning than meadow of beavers, but oh well. Overall, my name is okay, but I wish I would have gotten something still unique, but not as antiquated and mediocre." Feb. 11, 2013: Report as inappropriate

  • "My dad named me Beverly because he told me the only Beverly he knew was beautiful. He said I had to be beautiful with a name like that. The only other person I know of with the same name is about 30 years older than me. I was born in 1982." May. 15, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "I am named Beverly after my mom's best friend in college. When she was younger, she was a doctor overseas, and I always admired her for that. I didn't particulary like my name when I was growing up, hoxever. During my teens, I was Bev, but now most people call me Beverly I have been called "Debra Lee" more than once, so that is annoying, but things could be worse. My parents could have named me Beulah or Gertrude or Agnes--all names that I really do not like." Jan. 6, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "Hate it! Big time! The only people I've met with this name (2) are at least 20 years older than me. It was big in 1930, not the late 60s, when I was born. The jokes I suffered most in school were "Beverly Hills" (I was a tad busty) and "Beverly Hill-billy" after the 1960s show. Those were great for my self-esteem! Being associated with a beaver dam was very pictorial. No one spells/says it incorrectly." Dec. 31, 2007: Report as inappropriate

  • "I've nevermet one cause its masculine but still I likeit" Jul. 26, 2007: Report as inappropriate

  • "I also introduce myself as Beverly, or else I get called Beth. The name was very popular when I was in school - at one time we had five Beverlies in a class of under 70 pupils." Apr. 10, 2007: Report as inappropriate

  • "I LOVE THIS NAME.I HAVE ONLY KNOW OF 3 OTHER PEOPLE WITH THIS NAME!" Feb. 8, 2007: Report as inappropriate

  • "I find that if I do not introduce myself as beverly people often default to 'beth'. I therefore always introduce myself as beverly, and let people evolve to call me bev or whatever they prefer--" Sep. 25, 2006: Report as inappropriate

  • "I love being Beverly. The only time I have come across others with my name was while working at a nursing home. People often call me Bev. I've never had the same name as one of my peers." Mar. 14, 2006: Report as inappropriate
