"My name is Belle but I don?t like it as much as some other names as you can?t shorten it to make a nickname but I do think it is a lovely name that sounds pretty and interesting.
It really irritates me when people assume it is pronounced Bella. Often I will point it out but people will still say Bella thinking I don?t know how to say my own name.
But overall I prefer it to names like Bella or Millie because it is very uncommon" Apr. 12, 2018:
"My name is Belle, and I have mixed experiences with it. The positives would be its meaning of fair and beautiful, and how simple of a name it is - however there are a few negatives. Something that's been occuring a lot recently would be people not hearing me correctly and assuming I said "Bella" or "Beth," Beth irritates me most since it's so far off. The other negative would be the nicknames (if you can even call them that) and jokes made off of the name, comparing it to a bell and making ringing noises (surprisingly adults do this way more than any person my age). Although the positives are nice and cute, the negatives come in and cancels those out so, in the end, it's just an ordinary name." Jan. 28, 2018:
"My daughter will be born in a couple of weeks and her name is Iris Belle. Her brothers name is Lennon. I love the name, it popped up out of nowhere...I feel like she chose the name!" Dec. 27, 2008:
"My great-grandma's middle name was Belle. She hated it, but I love it because it reminds me of her and how much it came up in conversation." Sep. 23, 2008:
"I think it's a horrible name. My cousin named her baby "Belle." Ick! Sounds like an old lady." Dec. 31, 2005:
"Our daughters name is Belle. People are always complimenting about what a pretty name it is. People often think I am saying Beth until I say it again. We have not met another yet." Dec. 21, 2005:
