"My daughter's name is Ana Maria. ("Ana" rhymes with Donna.) I didn't realize that this was a Hispanic spelling when she was born - her father is Italian, and I thought it sounded better as Ana, not Anna, which sounds like an old woman. As a kindergarten teacher I had an Asian Indian student name "Ah-nu," and I just liked the way Ana sounded with Maria, her grandmother's name." Dec. 29, 2010:
"My 3 year old daughter's name is Ana Molly ( Incubus song Anna Molly but we dropped an "n" to update it a little) & it fits her perfectly. She is smart, silly, polite, girly, and a little tomboyish too! We wanted something classic and not trendy that will grow with her into a woman." Oct. 5, 2010:
"My name is Ana. I pronounce it On-Uh. My mom found it in a german name book and fell in love with it. I love it, i don't know anyone else with my name. I'm glad i'm not just another Emily or Ashley." Feb. 19, 2010:
"We used Bell as a middle name for our little girl, after her Great-Grandmother, Mattie Bell. She can go by Ana or Ana Bell." Mar. 30, 2009:
"The name ANA comes from ANNA, HANNAH, it is widely used in Portugal and Spain. Prononced Ah-na. It's a beautiful name, simple and classic, one N or two." Oct. 22, 2008:

"Ana is way too common a name for my liking. There were close to 30 girls that I knew of in my high school named either Ana or Anna, and I still find people naming babies that all the time (I work in the labor and delivery unit at a hospital)with no signs of slowing down any time soon. I've never really liked the name anyway, but I've also had a bad experience with every girl named Ana that I've ever met. Seriously consider what you're doing if you ever think about naming a child Ana." Feb. 2, 2010:

"My name is Mariana but I will legally change it to Ana. Although people sometimes say Ann-ah instead of Ah-na, which is incorrect, Mariana is more often mispronounced and Ana is softer in sound, I like it much better. Ana has more than one origin, its not just Hispanic." Sep. 22, 2015:
"My daughter's name is Anna-Leigh but it is pronounced An-ah. We are from a German decent and I left the 2 n's because my grandmother was Ann. I love this name and think it is very unique." May. 2, 2013:
"my name is Ana ,pronounced "ah-nah". I am Croatian. Ana is a very common name there. When I was a child, sometimes my mother would call me " Ani ,pronounced "Ah-knee' and my father would call me anjusko pronounce " ah-nyoo-shkoh" Those were my nicknames. My American friends called me Anna-banana." Feb. 20, 2013:
"I used to dislike my name because I thought it was too common. But now I love it. It is unique and a part of my heritage. I'm Portuguese (not Italian, or German, or English)...that is why I spelll it with one 'n' only. I absolutely hate it when people spell my name with 2 'n's. Respect cultural differences, and spell it right!" Oct. 16, 2009:

"This is my name and I love it. Most people do not pronounce the A's softly and say "Anne-Na" instead of "Ah-na". I correct people and they seem to get it right away. I love my name also because it's quick to write. I'm of Dutch and Norwegian decent." Sep. 15, 2006:
"Hi my name is Ana (Ah-nuh).The "nuh" is a short sound. It is pronounced differently because of my Tongan heritage. I love the fact that it is different and that makes me unique! :D" Jun. 26, 2006:
