  • "My name is Ainsley and I'm in my 50's. Until very recently I'd only met two other female Ainsleys in my life. It was mostly a boy's name when I was kid, and I know of many more male Ainsleys over a certain age than female ones. It gets mispronounced and misspelled a lot, but mostly people tell me how much they love it or of their niece/granddaughter who shares the name. I am very grateful for it and so happy that I wasn't given a more common name." Aug. 27, 2019: Report as inappropriate

  • "This is my name, and I love the specialness. I am now 11 and never will want to change my name." Jan. 16, 2018: Report as inappropriate

  • "Our 10 year old daughter is named Ainsley. We changed her name a month or so before she was born. We had thought we would name her Annalise, until we were watching West Wing. The character Ainsley was mentioned, and my husband told me he thought that was the most beautiful name he had ever heard. He doesn't usually have such a strong reaction to names, so I thought we should change her name to Ainsley. She loves it, and it fits her personality. We used Corinne as her middle name." Jan. 4, 2016: Report as inappropriate

  • "I am 54 and named Ainsley. I have always loved and enjoyed the name. Sometimes people say it wrong, but not that often. I've had a few children named after me, but don't know anyone my age with the name. I feel special with this unusual name and love seeing the popularity increase!" Dec. 26, 2015: Report as inappropriate

  • "My daughter is named Ainslee. She is 11 and loves her name." Dec. 28, 2013: Report as inappropriate

  • "I'm 31 and named Ainsley. I've always loved it's uniqueness. I have encountered only 3 other Ainsleys. I really do love my name." Oct. 6, 2012: Report as inappropriate

  • "My daughter who is now 10 is named Ainsley. We have only enountered 2 other girls with the same name in that time. We LOVE her name, and often get really positive feedback about it. Our daughter is turning out strong, yet feminine just like her name! PS it also looks good on the back of her hockey sweater :)" Jul. 18, 2012: Report as inappropriate

  • "We love this name and chose it for our daughter, though I think we'll start calling her "Angus" after the first funny comment on this site. Our other kids call her "Ains" for short. Our two-year-old calls her "Ains-ey."" Oct. 1, 2010: Report as inappropriate

  • "This is my name (spelt Ainslie) and I often get told it's unusual and lovely." Aug. 30, 2009: Report as inappropriate

  • "This is my six year old daughters name, and we have always gotten compliments on it. Yes, we get the occasional person who mispronounces it (one little girl in Kindergarten called her "Angelee" but it was cute)" Jul. 20, 2009: Report as inappropriate

  • "We named our last born this in 1993. I found Ainsley in a name book and was hooked. We spelled it Ainslie because ley is at the end of our last name. Let me tell you this girl loves her name and always gets a great response. I think we may be responsible for it getting popular. There is an Ainslie street in Chicago look for it off the Kennedy Expressway. Also an Ainslie Lake in Canada and a tartan (Scottish plaid pattern) called Ainslie you can see online. Her shortened family nick name is Ain-Z." Dec. 27, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "I came across the name ainsley while I was going trough a baby name book. I love the name I am 5 1/2 mos. Pregnant with a girl and ainsley is most likely going to be her name" Apr. 23, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "My 11 1/2 year old daughter is named Ainsley. I've always loved her name and we've only met a few others with that name in the entire 11 1/2 years. She does say that some adults mispronounce it, or will call her Ashley, but for the slight inconvenience of correcting the odd person who just can't seem to read...it's worth it that she has a "unique" name, but not one that's too strange." Feb. 22, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "Our 5 yr old daughter is named Ainsley, it suits her perfectly. Gentle and melodic with great strength behind it." Sep. 1, 2007: Report as inappropriate

Both my husband and I are of Scottish descent and we wanted a name that was beautiful, unique and paid homage to the heritage that we love so much! I can't wait to meet her!" Dec. 28, 2006: Report as inappropriate

  • "This is my youngest daughter's name and my older daughter, Gabby, has a hard time pronouncing it (Annsley). I love the name and have yet to meet or know of another Ainsley. The only down side of the name is that it doesn't have a really good shortened name, except Ann, which is very plain." Dec. 14, 2006: Report as inappropriate

  • "My husband and I are considering naming our daughter this when she's born in April. I like that it's unique without being bizarre. So far, when I've mentioned the name to others, I've gotten a good response." Nov. 15, 2006: Report as inappropriate

I am a girl, and people often dont read my name properly and call me Ashley or Alisha. Its pronounced Ainz-lee." Mar. 9, 2006: Report as inappropriate

  • "I read this name as a Scottish last name in a short story. I think it makes a beautiful first name for a girl yet retains a lot of strength so it could work for a boy as well." Jan. 18, 2006: Report as inappropriate

  • "This is my 5-year-old daughter's name. We are of Scottish ancestry so I wanted a Scottish name. My husband chose it out of a book of Celtic names. The spelling and meaning of the name are beautiful. I know of one other Ainsley. I've heard of one other Ainsley in our town." Sep. 18, 2005: Report as inappropriate

  • "This is our daughter's name. We have loved the uniqueness, yet simplicity of the name. Our daughter is now 2 1/2 years old and while we have heard of others with this name, we have yet to meet anyone personally. We love it." Sep. 16, 2005: Report as inappropriate

  • "My daughter's name is Ainsley. Sometimes it is mispronouced as Annsley. Most people say they like it. • "I think it?s the most horrible name I have ever ever heard. It?s harsh and awkward and just plain ugly I wouldn?t even consider calling a pet this name it?s awful. If you can?t rhink of a nicer name to call your child then please get a pet fish first and use this ghastly name on it before calling a human Ainsley 🤮" Jun. 7, 2019: Report as inappropriate

  • "My daughter's name is Aisley (without the 'n'), but that name does not exist according to this site. I've only ever encountered one other Aisley and that was a girl who lived in my dorm freshman year of college. I thought it was beautiful then and when I was pregnant and looking for names, I came across Ainsley and remember Aisley. I think it sounds much less awkward without the 'n' stopping the flow of air in the middle of the word and it's more unique!" Jun. 17, 2010: Report as inappropriate
