"My name has been "Cecily" since 1948 when my Mom found it in an English prayer book. My father was of Italian decent, a second generation Catholic American. In order to have me baptized they had to have a saint's name approved by the church. Cecily is a derivative of the name St. Cecilia.
I have always loved my name, and have only recently met another young lady with the same name.
My Dad sometimes called me "Ces."" Jun. 16, 2014:

"I was named after Cecily Cardew, a character in Oscar Wilde's wonderful play, "The Importance of Being Earnest". Having such a delightful character and play as my namesake is fun.
I love being named Cecily. It is confusing for people at first, but on the other hand, I always get compliments on it. I like that it is unusual, and I've had people tell me that they plan to name a future child Cecily, because they love the name so much." Aug. 13, 2009:

"We named our daughter Cecily (born 1999) and we hear compliments all of the time. It's pretty yet uncommon, and it fits her to a T. People do mispronounce it (usually Cicely) and never know how to spell it, but once they hear it a second time, they usually get it right." Aug. 10, 2005:

"We named our daughter Cecily. It is a name that an aunt mentioned to me 30 years ago. The name stuck in my head but I was always neutral about it. In choosing a name I wanted something rare but not made up. (I know all names are made up but some are just a little too newly made up for my taste.) Cecily fit the bill for me. It is rare, old, feminine, sounds great, and I love it. I wanted to avoid the dreaded "Cecy" nickname so I gave her the middle name Claire and we sometimes call her CC. She is 5 & I was always a little worried that I would come up with something that I like better. I haven't. I love the name more and more all the time." Feb. 24, 2010:
"My name is Cecily. I'm 18 years old and i have a twin sister. Her name is chelsea. Most people usually say my name wrong. For example "Cic-aly" or "Cecilia". I have to correct people alot, but they all seem to think my name is pretty once they get it right.(If they ever do). :) I just answer to anything that sounds close! Heck, half the time i answer to my sisters name because people cant tell us apart. But overall i love my name. It's different and unique, and thats usually what i look for with me being a twin. I'm very happy with it!" Mar. 28, 2009:
"MY NAME IS ALSO CECILY AND MY MOM SAYS SHE NAMED ME AFTER AN ACTRESS.A LOT OF PEOPLE MISSPRONOUNCE MY NAME ALSO BUT I JUST CORRECT THEM AND THEN THEY SAY WHOA THATS A COOL NAME!!" Sep. 3, 2008:
"my daughter is almost 2 in december and her name is cecily but spelt cesilee. i love my lil mama'z she knows how to say her name, which i thought it would be hard for her. people in her family call her sissy, and people might say sicily. its annoying. thanks" Nov. 30, 2007:
"My niece's name is Cecily. She was named after her grandfather, who's name was Cecil. It's nice that it's a fairly unique name." Jul. 24, 2007:
"My name is Cecily. I don't seem to like it right now, at my age, I'm sure that will change when Im older, though. People usually say my name is "Siss-aly" and "Cecilia". Very rarely do i ever get called by the real pronunciation of my name, which is "Cec-a-lee" or "Cec-lee", most people just give up and start calling me Ceecee which I'm not very fond of, either. Some of my closre friends call me Cecy. I have never met anyone else with the name Cecily, but I do know of a comedian, and plenty of television producers and such named Cecily." Apr. 4, 2007:
"My name is Cicely and I am sorry that Cicely doesn't even have an entry in this database! Opposite of the previous post, people always mispronounce my "Cecily" and it makes me crazy. I like my name in general but I do tire of it sometimes. It doesn't flow off the tongue real easily, even for me. My mom discovered the name from the actress Cicely Tyson and fell in love with it before she even planned to have a child. She never picked another name. People usually never forget my name once they get it down well, just like the last entry said. But I get called Chelsea, Cindy, Chloe, CeeCee, you name it! I tell them its like the island just spelled different, and like the fake town on "Northern Exposure." That usually works." Apr. 17, 2006:
