  • "One of the best characters in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers went by the name of Tommy Oliver, even though where I am I prefer his Japanese counterpart from Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, Burai aka the DragonRanger (that's Green Ranger to us). The real reason for Tommy starting off as the evil Green Ranger before turning good (Jason the Red Ranger broke the spell Tommy was under) is because of a troubled family background Burai had come from, when Burai's father, the rebel Knight dressed in black, was killed by the King of Yamato, the adoptive father of Burai's younger brother Geki/TyrannoRanger (Jason's Zyuranger counterpart). So basically Burai was evil for much longer than Tommy, but eventually Burai and Geki buried the hatchet (and this is why in Power Rangers Tommy and Jason became best buddies). And the real reason for the infamous 'Green Candle' episodes in Power Rangers? Because in Zyuranger, Burai's life-force was burning out in the form of his own green candle, yet only Burai died and Tommy has survived - hence Tommy later becoming the White Ranger (based on that child Dairanger Kou aka the Kiba (Fang) Ranger in Gosei Sentai Dairanger), not to mention Zeo Ranger V Red in Power Rangers Zeo (based on the Chouriki Sentai Ohranger leader Gorou Hoshino/OhRed), the original Red Turbo Ranger prior to African-American TJ Johnson's taking his place in Power Rangers Turbo (whose own original Japanese incarnation, Gekisou Sentai Carranger, had Kyosuke Jinnai/Red Racer), and more recently the Black Dino Ranger from Dino Thunder (based on AbareBlack from Abaranger in 2003). Tommy was also known for having Kimberly the Pink Power Ranger as his girlfriend (although in Zyuranger Burai and Mei/PteraRanger, Kimberly's counterpart, never got together because of Burai's limited life-force)." • "My Former Friend is called Tommy. He's kind of a Frenenemy to me, as he treats me like a dirty peice of gum on his Shoe. Personally, I would not use this name for any of my children, as it will remind of him." Jun. 5, 2009: Report as inappropriate

  • "I think I would like the name Tommy more if Rugrats didn't ruin it for me.. (even though I liked that show when i was younger)" Aug. 2, 2007: Report as inappropriate
