"I was born June 19th, 1967. I never had any issues about my name, that is until the TV series "Roots" first aired in 1977. I'm guessing that I'm not the only Toby that has been unmercifully taunted by the words "Kunta Kente", though I may be one of the few Tobys that share their birthday with The Emancipation Proclamation... "Juneteenth"
I can laugh at it now.
Reading other Toby's blogs, I see that alot of us also bear the burden of being associated with small, furry critters.
I got the giggles when the movie "Paranormal Activity 3" came out. It featured "Toby, the Unfriendly ghost."
My favorite link is to the 80's fantasy flick "Labyrinth." little Toby was whisked away by the Goblin King.
Like, love or hate it, the name Toby is one of the most influential and talked about names ever.
Peace everyone :)

"I really like it because its my name and not that many other peoples. My mates call me Tobes as well." Apr. 1, 2013:
"I think name is a gorgeous boys name. We chose it for our second son because it wasn't overly common but still a well known name. We don't know why but we both associated this name with a person who is loyal, kind and sporty and a bit cheeky. Funnily enough since he was born we've met two other people who have named their sons Toby but it doesn't bother us that its rising in popularity a bit as its nice to know others love that name too." "My name is Toby, and I hate it.
IMO it only suits dogs, chinchillas, or people aged less than eight.
I wish it wasn't my name." Sep. 11, 2011:

"my name is toby and I always hated it- I am a female.
now as an adult it is ok" Oct. 7, 2014:
"My name is Toby and many people say it's "cute" like a name for a dog or a doll. I've met one other Toby (not sure about the spelling cuz she's female) and a Tobias, but that was all. I got a couple looks from people and even a few "Is that seriously your name?" one person even asked me "Is Toby a nickname that you like being called? What's your real name?"
I'm quiet, timid, and shy, and to my friends, that fits the name Toby.
Also, I HATE being called Tony, especially since it's my brother's name, I can understand people mixing us up, but some people who don't even know about my brother have called me Tony.
I guess the name does fit me though, I can't imagine being named anything else. Well, my mom considered Isaac, and when I think about it, well nothing wrong with the name Isaac, but I'm glad I'm Toby." Nov. 26, 2008:
"My boyfriend's name is Toby and his main problem is that lots of people think it's Tony which he absolutely hates. I think Toby's a great name though it's rather associated with 'posh' (upper class) people here in the UK." Dec. 20, 2006:
