"I named my son Silas when he was born in 1989. I like it and it means a dweller of the forest. Turns out, I later learned, that our last name is Nordic and means A ruler from the North Woods. I thought that was so interesting. My son has always liked his name and even thought about starting a Club for guys named Silas. We also have met a couple of older men with that name. One famous person is Silas Tupper---creator of Tupperware." Jun. 2, 2019:
"People always say it's not pronounced the way it's spelt which is correct but the pronunciation would be. Sigh then lisp without the p at the end so Sigh-lis" May. 26, 2019:
"Love it. Even with it?s growing popularity, it will never be as popular as Mason, Liam, etc. which is great because it will always be at list somewhat unique. I settled on this name with my now two year old, and at first I think people thought it was a bit too unheard of, but they love it. I?ve never once regretted choosing this name Silas loves his name, too." Dec. 23, 2018:
"My son is Sylas!!! We did it with a 'y' so it would be better if he wants to go by Sy. We, my husband and I, call him Sy, SyGuy, SyMan, we have gotten a lot of positive responses on his name, we do sometimes get Cyrus, or Tyler when someone first meets him and repeats the name back." Jun. 2, 2018:
"We named our son Silas. We have had nothing but positive feedback from people who find out his name. We call him Sy for short, and sometimes I call him SyGuy. Being a book snob, I get annoyed when people ask if I named him after "Silas Mar-I-ner" because his Dad is a sailor. Geez, people, it's Marner! And he was a weaver! Grr, sorry had to vent."
