Comment left Dec 06, 2010: "Name: Shawn Gender: Male I don't bother telling people how to spell it. As an effect of that people can't look me up in databases with any accuracy. I had a cop give me a ticket once which "didn't belong to this sean/shawn/shaun/etc" ;) saved $50 becuase someone didn't ask how to spell my LEGAL name. Hee Hee" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Oct 12, 2010: "My name is Shawn and i am a female, the first thing people say when they hear my name is, that a boy's name!!, but i tell them hey, im a girl!, i will also get letters addressing me as Mr. instead of Miss, i have gotten used to the raised eyes brows and smirk when people hear that my name is Shawn, frankly i find it amusing and i am ever so happy to educate them about my name. over the years ive grown to appreciate my name. its my identity and i love it." Comment left May 28, 2010: "I am a female and my name is spelled Shawn. I have had many problems with identity. Many times they think I am using someone elses credit card. The final blow was when I went for my 1st mammogram and they cleared the room of all women before I arrived thinking I was a man. You would think since my GYN sent me they would have a clue. All you can do is laugh and be glad you have an interesting name. I have grown to appreciate my name over the years and now think it is suitable for both genders. Love who you are and be proud of your given name." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Mar 14, 2009: "My fiancıes name is Shawn and it will be our future baby's middle name if I'm having a boy. I've always loved the name and think this is the best and most unique way to spell it. For a long time when I was younger I thought "Sean" was pronounced as it was spelled, like the word "seen". Shawn looks so much nicer." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Dec 31, 2008: "I named my son Shawn in 2006 after my husband's best friend. I had never heard of Shawn spelled that way before. Growing up all I ever knew was Sean's. I like all the spellings, but obviously prefer Shawn now. I will say that I have known several female Shawn's, so I was a bit confused at first." (Report as inappropriate)

Oh ya and thumbs up to the guy who wrote the comment April 23, 08 i when refering to people with the name Shawn but spelled as Sean i pronounce it "See-in" also!!! Sadly though everyone always spells my name as Sean and very rarely will some one spell it right without me telling them how to spell it :(" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Apr 23, 2008: "My name is Shawn. I'm proud to be Irish, yet like my Anglicized name. When people wonder how to spell it, I tell them the simple rule: spelled like it sounds. I always derogitorily refer to "Sean" as "See-in"." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Feb 23, 2008: "I love the name Shawn and I am also in love with a Shawn. I think the name is strictly for boys. I also prefer it spelled this way. My next son will be named Shawn even though it's very common, it sounds awesome." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Apr 29, 2007: "I like this name. People always ask how to spell it thogh because there is so many ways to spell it." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Apr 17, 2007: "I'm a Shawn, and the only problem is that it can be a uni-sex name, and always misspelled. I've given up trying to correct people who write it as Sean or Shaun. Also, my father's name was John, so it fits, "son of John."" (Report as inappropriate)
