  • "We named our son Jayce Caden in 2005 and have loved it ever since! Our son is an amazing and handsome young man and his name fits him well! We love the name Jayce!" Apr. 17, 2015: Report as inappropriate

  • "I named my son Jayce Patrick when he was born in 1978. He grew up not too crazy about his name, but now he loves it. He has had so many people tell him what a cool name it is. He is a cool man, too. I saw the name Jayce in the credits of an old cowboy film late one night, and I knew right then I would name my child Jayce." Feb. 7, 2015: Report as inappropriate

  • "In 2008, we named our son Camden Jayce. I love the name Jayce. My husband and I had a deal that if we were having a boy, he picks the first name and I pick the middle. Opposite if we were having a girl. If I had my way, his first name would have been Jayce. Like other comments I see, people often say Jaycee, instead of Jayce. Very annoying!" • "My son was born July 2001 and is named Jayce Ryan. He's an awesome kid and everyone loves his name. I fell in love with the name the first time I heard it on the cartoon, "Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors" when I was a teenager. I always said if I had a son his name would be Jayce. Over a decade later I did and he was Jayce from the minute I knew I was pregnant! The middle name took the rest of my pregnancy :^p He went by "Jayce Ryan" for the first ten years. Now he's 12 1/2 and just goes by "Jayce" or occasionally Jaycerman, though he's kind of outgrown that with everyone except mom ;^) We've had the same problems with "Chase", "Case", "Jay", "Jason" and everyone's favorite "Jaycee". I always say, "It's Jayce, rhymes with race". For the other Jayce's and moms of Jayce, doesn't it drive you batty that nobody would see the name J-o-y-c-e and say "Joycee" yet it happens with Jayce constantly. Especially at doctor's offices for some reason...?" Apr. 1, 2014: Report as inappropriate

  • "I am also a Jayce. But I am a girl. People have a hard time pronouncing it and I hate it when they say JAYCEE or JOYCE (which is my sister's name anyway). But I love it all the same because it is a whole name by itself and not the nickname of Jason or a tongue-tied version of Chase. I had a colleague who named his daughter after me. It's a pretty cool name!" Apr. 4, 2013: Report as inappropriate

  • "I love seeing that there are other Jayce Ryan's mentioned here! My son is also Jayce Ryan, born January 2005. When my husband and I found out we were having a son, the name Jayce immediately was our choice. We really don't recall where we heard the name in the first place, but we just knew our son would be Jayce. We couldn't figure out what other boy's name we liked for his middle name until one evening it popped into my head... Jayce Ryan! We don't even know anyone named Ryan but it just sounded right. Then one night shortly after he was born, we were watching a beloved '80s movie, "Sixteen Candles" and it immediately stuck me... the character Jake Ryan that I had adored in the movie! All I could say was "oh my god, honey... I think I almost named our son after my teenage movie crush!" We both got a good laugh but I still adore my very own Jayce Ryan more than that crush anyday!!! Cheers to everyone named Jayce!!!" Dec. 30, 2010: Report as inappropriate

  • "Our son, Jayce Joseph, was born in 1993. I first heard (and saw) the name on a Saturday morning cartoon show in 1985. I was already dating my future husband and he liked it too. Guess the name stuck with us because, 8 years later, it was at the top of the baby name list. Years later I found the name of the cartoon on the internet - Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors. I still need to buy a tape of the show for nostalgia's sake. ;-) Yes, like others, he gets called Jason, Chase, and "J.C.". He gets the occasional letter addressed to "Joyce". I knew we had a challenging LAST name but I never imagined that people would confuse the pronunciation of his FIRST name. JAYCE seems so simple and straightforward, doesn't it? If I wanted him to be a "J.C.", I would have spelled his name differently (a "ee" or "ie" perhaps). Luckily, Jayce likes his name in spite of the confusion. I love the name. It looks good, it sounds good... it's different and youthful yet it "grows up" well. In 1993, I liked the name because it was unique but maybe as we get more Jayce's in the world people will actually learn how to say it!" Mar. 26, 2010: Report as inappropriate

  • "Our son Jayce Ryan was born July of 2005. My husband said that the first name had to beging with a "J". We look through baby name books and came up with Jayce. I love the name and it actually fits our son." Mar. 8, 2010: Report as inappropriate

  • "It's interesting to see the name gaining popularity. Growing up in the 60s, I never heard of anyone with the same name. I was constantly called Jason, Chase etc. (even by relatives) and if I had a nickel for every time I had to spell it, I'd be richer than Bill Gates. At one point I even had the women's branch of the Air Force trying to recruit me via the mail as Joyce (considered it, as barracks life sounded fun-but suspected there'd be issues at the physical exam). Still, it's a distinctive name and I've always gotten positive responses to it. And as one commenter has figured out, it really can be an effective ice breaker at bars and parties." I do get a lot of people who think I said Chase when speaking of him or they pronounce it Jay-Cee, so annoying. I have never heard of it as a female name untill now though. Either way it's a great name!!" Oct. 8, 2009: Report as inappropriate

  • "A friend of mine gave birth to a baby girl this last May and named her Jayce Rose Moon. (Pronounced Jay-See). The family is Oglala Sioux and Jayce in Lakhota mean 'moon' and the Rose Moon was from the coloration of the moon during an eclipse. The mother's middle name is Desert Moon, so the name seemed to fit very well." Aug. 16, 2009: Report as inappropriate

  • "My son "Jayce Alexander Muller," was born on Thursday, November 15, 2007. I have received numerous positive comments about my son's name. Most people love his name although again they do pronounce it Jaycee or J+C or Jason...UGGGHHH! The first time I heard the name was as someone mentioned earlier on a TV show back in 1985 "Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors." But before I gave my son the name I looked up the meaning which is "HEALER," in Greek which was appropriate for him as he was born extremely premature. He has certainly come a long way." • "We named our last child (son) Jayce Michael in 2008. I liked Jason but it is way too common so I found this name. • "My Son Jayce Michael Barry was born April 26, 2001. He was named after his Uncle Jason whom we called "Jay". He died the night Jayce was conceived. We wanted to name our son after Jay but didn't want to name him Jason or Jay. One day on tv there was this little boy with no arms or legs and his name was Jace. We loved the name but changed the spelling to include "Jay" in it. Our son is not only named for his uncle but also for Jay's girlfriend (and Jayce's godmother) Michelle and my step father Barry." • "Thanks for all the thumbs up, and in particular the comment form Dec 19th, 2007. My name is first and last name are Jayce Cameron respectively. I was born March 6th, 1983. My mother named me out of the blue but the earliest refrence I found is a cartoon called "Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors", that came out 2 years after I was born. Whenever my name is written for someone to speak aloud they almost always pronounce it Jay-cee. Beinng a male I do find the incorrect pronounciation of my name a tad bit effeminate but I don't let it bother me as they didn't know how it was intended to sound or even if who they were calling was male or female. Whenever I speak to someone who trys to repeat it to show that they heard you/understood you, I find they repeat back Chase, most often, followed by my second repeat and their next failed attempt being, Jason. Luckily we have name tags at work now so I just point. lol. Without making this an entire essay I'll end by saying I do get a lot of praise for originality and do enjoy that!" The mis-pronunciation/mis-understanding we get most often is "Chase", but we get many compliments too. If pronouncing the name to someone for the first time, we just automatically provide the spelling so that there is no question." Dec. 29, 2007: Report as inappropriate

  • "I named my son Jayce that is now 16 months because my mothers name is Joyce so I just dropped the "o" and put and "a". All of my immediate families name starts with a J so I figured lets name this baby boy something original and unique that no one else has and thats what I did, I never heard of anyone else with the same spelling until now. People always say Jace or Jaycee at the doctor but it is pronounced Jay_ce like Joyce but no "o". I have not met anyone in person with the same name." Dec. 7, 2007: Report as inappropriate

  • "I have a son named Jayce Liam Mikail born on Nov 11th, 2004. I first came across the name on a made for tv Disney movie that had a kid named (Jace Newfield) when I heard it I fell in love with it. With His fathers name being Jack and his Grandmothers Joyce we decided to go with the Jayce spelling. We too run into people pronouncing it wrong Jaycee or Chase and we most common get the is that short for Jason. The name gives him character and I can't think of anything eles I would of named my little "Jaycee Bones!"" Jan. 29, 2009: Report as inappropriate

Yes, everybody converts his name to Jason, mistakes it as Chase, or misreads it as Jay-cee (2 syllables). I would not have guessed that since Joyce is very common and people don't say Joy-cee. Jayce is 14 and we have met or heard of less than 5 other Jayce's. I'm still happy I chose this unique name." Feb. 22, 2008: Report as inappropriate

  • "I love this name and it is my favorite. It also happens to be my own name. People have a hard time spelling it. As for them pronouncing it make sure to tell them its like jason but without the on, seems to make it easier. Well thats how i pronounce it anyway. I am now a 20 year old male and have met one Jayce who spells it as i do and he was a baby, the mom liked my name. Though i have heard of people who know Jayces. I have had a great life with this name and my sisters are the only ones that tried to make fun of it. Its too hard to make fun of so that makes it twice as cool. People always say they like and and especially the way its spelled. Anyways its my name, i love it, and congradulations to all the future jayces out there...they are destined to be cool, how can you not be with a name like Jayce!!!"
