"I'm so disappointed that I had to type the name in with a c before the last k to even get close. In Denmark and possibly also in the other Scandinavian countries, the most common spelling is Frederik and every other king has been named Frederik for generations! My oldest son's name is Frederik and it was the #1 most popular boy name when he was born. We only found out after we'd named him. Wow! Some people sure have some strong anti-feelings here! The full name is usually pronounced here. Occassionally someone will be called 'Frede'. The d is soft here. You don't have soft d's in English so it's difficult to explain. Through kindergarten and school there have been many other Frederik's though so had I known, I would've probably used it as a middle name. However, in Denmark it's timeless, classic and classy." "I named my son Frederick Travis. Frederick is a family name (my father) which is why I used it, but it isn't a name I would actually call my son. My son goes by Travis, or Trav." Jul. 3, 2007:
