"This is my sons, his father's and my grandson's name. We live in California. We spell it Eddie. I never gave much thought to the spelling. I know a lot of men name eddie who spell it with an "ie". I also know one female named Eddy. Spelled with a "y". So I don't think it really matters whether you use an "ie" or a "y", male or female, it all depends on how it looks to YOU, the person naming your child." Jun. 15, 2014:
"I think the name Eddie should be named to a guy who's absoluetly funny all the time! My brother's name is Eddie, he's really a "hit me again" kind of guy!" Nov. 14, 2007:

"My name is Edward. Born in 1948. About the peak popularity for the name. Short name, Eddie. Eddy with a Y is a whirl pool. Or short for a girl named Edwina. Get the spelling right." Aug. 22, 2016:
"that is how we named our son, we live in Holland and it is indeed spelled wrongly." Dec. 10, 2010:
"Common nickname for Edward, Edwin, or Edgar. I think it's a name one would associate with their dad or their granddad. I don't really see it as a young boy's name." Jun. 6, 2008:
"I think this makes an adorable baby name, but also sounds kind of old fashioned" Nov. 30, 2005:
