"CALVIN IS THE BEST NAME IN THE WORLD #TYBGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG" Sep. 19, 2012:
"I named my son Calvin, because of Calvin and Hobbes. The character reminds me of myself and my childhood, as I was very ornery. He is almost 4 now, and I living up to his name! LOL!" Dec. 1, 2011:
"My 3 month old is named Calvin. The name has been a favorite of mine for years. He is simply adorable, sweet and has intelligent dark blue eyes. It's a name that's classic, but still fits in with modern names. It's great for a baby, child and adult. Plus the nickname Cal is very cool. I'm so glad I chose this name and that my husband loves it too." Oct. 17, 2011:
"We named our son CALVIN JOHN and the entire family loves it. It sounds strong and classic. We didn't want a trendy name so when we saw this we loved it and also love the nicknames associated with it. he is 8 months and suits him perfectly!" Aug. 17, 2011:
"I love it! I was reading baby names out to my hubby and he is very hard to please. I read this one out and he said no, but then looked up and asked how do you spell it and I told him and he said mmm maybe... Oh I so hope he says YES" Jul. 8, 2011:
"Just named our baby boy Calvin. My wife & I have always loved this name and it's not very common. He was named so because growing up I was a huge fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Cal Ripken Jr. wasmy favorite player. I am not a comic book kind of guy, but I simply adore Calvin & Hobbes so this had an impact as well. We even bought a stuffed tiger for him (corny I know) which kind of looks like Hobbes in a way :)" Apr. 9, 2010:
"i named my son Calvin in December because i personally know only one other Calvin. it means "Bald" and having bad family genes, i thought we would jinx him. what i also noticed during my pregnancy was a LOT of african-american people/characters with the name: Snoop Dogg, Lil Bow Wow's character in "Like Mike", the kid from "The PJ's", Vanessa's dad on "My Wife & Kids", a character in one of those stupid "epic/disaster" movies, and most recently in the new "Valentine's Day". a very strange coincidence to see so many, just something i picked up on. the name is great, no matter who has it- it IS cool, i can call my baby Cal or Vinny, and he can grow with it." Feb. 18, 2010:
"I pickd the name Calvin for my wee brother who was born on boxing day so i named him Calvin Stephen :D. i had the privalge of picking his name and i think i done a good job considering i was only 12 at the time :D hes 7 now and it suits him so much :D" Jul. 13, 2009:
"My father was named for Calvin Coolidge, who had been a friend of the family and lived in the same city. Now, 89 years later, my daughter has chosen the name for her son...well, without the Coolidge part. It's a great name." Jul. 12, 2009:
"I'm going to name my son Calvin. My husband picked it out one night and I fell in love with it! It's perfect for a little boy and also a grown man. Now we're just trying to find a middle name good enough to go with it!" Jul. 10, 2009:
"This guy in my class at schools name is Calvin. I have the hots for him cuz hes really funny and sweet. (well to me at least... haha) But it's a good name. Consider it." Jun. 17, 2009:
"My son, who was born in 2001 is Calvin Michael John! I love the name Calvin..of course named after Calvin and Hobbes. NO way I like the nickname Cal though, but no one has even tried, he is known as Calvin, or Calvin-nator!! :) Calvin is such a cute little boy's name, and even fits older gentelman!! THUMBS UP!" May. 10, 2009:
"Thinking of this name for my son. People tell me it is a southern name (?), but I can't find much of anything to prove that. Reasons I like it: Not common, nickname Cal, sounds kind of innocent and good natured to me, but I have no idea why." Jan. 28, 2009:
"My husband's name was Calvin, but we called him Mat. He was the best. Calvin Reed Mathews. I sure do miss him." Dec. 23, 2008:
"I THINK MY NAME "CALVIN" IS A STRONG NAME & I LIKE THE IDEA THAT EVERYONE DOESN'T HAVE MY NAME ~ THANKS ~ PARENTS FOR THE NAME !!!" Sep. 25, 2008:
"I named my son Calvin after my grandfather. It is a traditional English name that has been passed down for generations (Robert Calvin). I think it's a beautiful, original, traditional but hip name ("Cal"). It suits him, too. It's a cute name now, but it's also a name he can grow with. Some of the names today sound absurd when you think of a grown man walking around with it." Aug. 1, 2008:
"like the short form and long form. Not that common or trendy which is a plus." Jun. 13, 2007:
"Love it! Might use it for my baby due in Sept. if it's a boy. But people also say they think of the comic "Calvin & Hobbes". I like it b/c of the nickname "Cal"." May. 31, 2007:
"i think its the best boy name ever! its sxy and cute!
XxXxXxX JeSs XxXxXxX" May. 4, 2007:
"I am a very young mom, and people seem surprised when I tell them what I named my new baby boy: "Calvin? You didn't give him a dorky hippy name???" I think it's perfect- not to wierd, but not too common either. There's a little bit of trouble with pronunciation since I live close to the Mexican border, but after saying it a couple of times most spanish-spakers get it alright. ("KAHL-veen? Oh, ok!")" Jan. 10, 2007:
"Peeple r dumb eef thay kant speel mi naem. It maeks mi maad!" Nov. 20, 2006:
"My sons name is Calvin. Here in the Netherlands People always say and spell it wrong. They say "kAlwin" and spell it "Kelvin".
I saw the name on a card once and I thought it was great. Offcourse there is Calvin Klein and one of the characters in Jennifer's Crusies' book 'Bet me" is Called Calvin.
Now, my son is three years old an I think the name Calvin fits him perfectly...
I still think its a great name and am glad I Gave it to my son..." Sep. 16, 2006:
"I like this name because of Calvin (Cal) Ripken, the great Baltimore Orioles shortstop, for the hilarity of the comic strip Calvin & Hobbes, for the theologis John Clavin and because of my uncle Calvin, who fought in the unit Big Red 1 in WWI." Jul. 11, 2006:
"We named our son Calvin 18 months ago. We are often asked of the spelling ("Is that with a 'C' or a 'K'?" What?!), but most people say his name fits his personality. So far he is the only one I know and I love the name as much as the boy." May. 2, 2006:
"The best way to spell it is "calvin"
Our son is named this. he is 4. people associate it with Calvin and Hobbes or Calvin Coolidge. We know people who have named their kids Calvin becuase they liked our's so much. But other than those people we have yet to meet someone with the same name. Not very popular." Apr. 30, 2006:
"Calvin was my great grandfather's name and is my son's name. He goes by Cal and it suits him.
Have only met one other child with the name, but several old men." Apr. 24, 2006:
"My name is Calvin. When I visit my family out of the US, they usually spell my name with a K. At school, there are about three Calvins, and yes i counted. Having been named Calvin, i have the honor of sharing it with many other famous "Calvin's" s/a Calvin Klein, Coolidge, and the ever popular Calvin and Hobbes comics." Jan. 5, 2006:

"My parents chose the name "Calvin" for me because they thought it was "unusual" at the time (this is New Zealand in the late 1960s). They didn't have any knowledge of the name's historical and theological significance. As an adult I always have to reassure people that I do not in any way come from a Calvinist background nor do I in any way adhere to Calvinist doctrine. Actually I really despise Calvinism, rejecting it categorically as a rigidly puritanical, misanthropic, racist and even fascist world view. Jean Calvin's legacy is, in my opinion, not worth remembering. DON'T NAME YOUR SONS "CALVIN":

"We named our son Calvin in 1995 in honor of Calvin and Hobbes. We were going to name him Forrest but then Forest Gump came out. We have only encountered one other Calvin in his class. He is truly a Calvin and no other name would have done him right! Creative, funny, and the best 20 year old you'd want living at home (going to the JC then off to Berkeley or Santa Cruz UC." Dec. 26, 2015:
"My nephew's name is Calvin, he is so darling and the name fits him perfectly. His parents chose the name because it sounded strong and was not 'wierd' but not 'common'. He reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes. Little mischevious blond hair blue eyed boy. SO cute." Jan. 31, 2010:
"Sounds smart and strong yet is still a cute name. We wanted a name that would stand time. Now here's the seemingly cheezie part: we are from the east coast but met in California. We won't live here forever so CAL-vin will always remind us of our young life together!" Aug. 17, 2009:
"yeah i get called cal/cow a lot.
its ok i like wearing underwear with my name on it =)" Jan. 11, 2008:
"i hate the name because my coach calls me cal or cow." Jan. 4, 2008:
"My son's name is Calvin and it is a strong name that fits his personality. Easy to identify but not super popular." Dec. 11, 2007:
"It is an alright name people generally pronounce it right, the only problem would be people trting to spell it with a K" May. 29, 2006:
