It's becoming unnervingly popular, however, which actually makes me feel surprisingly territorial! Zoe Isabella was the purfect name for her because Zoe means life and Isabella means beautiful. Ther go "beautiful life"! Comment left Aug 11, 2009: "I also have umlauts over my O and have never come across another Zoe spelt the same way - as for people saying the correct place for the umlaut is over the E, pronunciation wise you're right but as these days people tend to pronounce Zoe correctly without any umlauts at all I think it's fine to place them anywhere- it's still different. Comment left Jul 18, 2009: "i love having the name zoe (with the umlaut, of course!) because its short, sweet and different (i mean seriously, who else's name starts with a "z" and has an accent?). but, i hate how it's getting so popular. also, i absolutely cannot stand it when people do not put the umlaut on or they put it on the "o" (which doesn't grammarically make sense anyway) or spell it with a "y" (thank you "zoey 101" for that!). people these days are always trying to abbreviate names, too. im not "zo" or "zozo" or anything else- i'm zoe (with "two dots over the 'e'"!)
