Comment left Jan 29, 2012: "It is my name . I will be fifty this year. So as you know from the graph it was not very popular but now it is. So , I went by Tammie(my first name) but now I prefer Zoe it fits my personality and life so much more than Tammie does. Also through the years I have learned be happy with who you are and do not live your life for anyone else." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 25, 2011: "I love my name so much! I love the meaning and how unique it is. The only thing that get on my nerves is the whole thing with people mis-prouncing it and spelling it with a "y". I love acting and was taking an acting camp one year and some mean girl said "Zoe" had no star quality to it. But I told her it was beautiful and unique and I loved it! So "haha" to her :D" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jul 12, 2011: "Zo? is my 12 year old daughter.
According to Biblical-Baby-Names.com:
Zoe means Life. "Origin - Greek.
Pronunciation - zo-ay.
The word zoe is used 134 times in the New Testament to indicate eternal life. Eternal life (zoe) is the whole future of the redeemed, and the final glory and reward to which the children of God enter. Jesus says he is the way, the truth and the life (zoe). 1Tim 6:12, Rom 6:22, Gal 6:8, 1Tim 1:16, Rom 5:21, John 14:6. Bible concordance #2222."
According to Baby Names World it is pronounced (ZO ee) and "Zoe is a direct transliteration of the ancient Greek word 'zoe' (written 'zeta-omega-eta'). It is usually listed as meaning 'life', but it can also mean 'a (means of) living', 'subsistence', 'goods' or 'property'. It was the 54th most popular name for girls born in the US in 2006. Zoe has been falling in popularity in the UK but remained in the top 100 in 2007. It is sometimes written with an umlaut over the 'e' ('Zo?') to emphasise the second syllable.Zoe was the name of several Byzantine empresses. It was later used as the name of one of the Muppets on the children's TV programme Sesame Street."
I suppose it just depends upon how you WANT to pronounce it. (ZO-ee) is much more common, and the pronunciation we gave it when she was born. But I've always assumed the correct Greek pronunciation was (zo-AY).
The two dots is called a dieresis, which means "1. the separation of two adjacent vowels, dividing one syllable into two. 2.a sign (?) placed over the second of two adjacent vowels to indicate separate pronunciation, as in one spelling of the older forms na?ve and co?perate: no longer widely used in English." Some consider it an umlaut which is defined as "1.a mark (?) used as a diacritic over a vowel, as ?, ?, ?, to indicate a vowel sound different from that of the letter without the diacritic, especially as so used in German. Compare dieresis. 2. Also called vowel mutation. (in Germanic languages) assimilation in which a vowel is influenced by a following vowel or semivowel." We use the dots as much as possible, even though it's not on her birth certificate like that." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Feb 18, 2011: "I LOVE IT BECAUSE ITS MY NAME TO IM 9 IM GONNA TURN 10 IN MARCH" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jan 30, 2011: "I am very happy and content being Zo?(w/ umlaut). I love that it means life; and I am also a serious animal lover. I'm 35, and I don't think my name's current popularity will effect me. I am Zoe, no matter who else has my name. I take a great deal of strength in my name." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jan 29, 2011: "I have always liked the name and named my daughter Zoe Elizabeth in 2003. I am not thrilled it has become so popular since I liked what I thought was the uniqueness at the time.
We sometimes hear it mispronounced as if it ryhmes with "Joe". One woman even argued with me about it.
There are a few other little girls at my daughter's relatively small school. And of course the celebrites named Zoe doesn't help. I just don't want it to become like the name Brittany!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jan 28, 2011: "Plan to name my baby Zoe. She'll be due on the 27th of March, 2011. I love the name." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jan 12, 2011: "My name is Zo?, with the umlauts (two dots), and I love it. The umlauts make me unique, and are always a talking point with new friends/teachers. I don't know too many other Zo?s, and I know none that use the umlaut like me. The umlauts aren't hard to type on a Mac computer, but aren't available on a PC (go Mac!). I love the name, and it has become an integral part of my identity." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jan 02, 2011: "I named my daughter Zowie instead of zoe with the dots or zoey. I still have not heard of anyone else spelling it that way. I love it!! My second daughter is Khloe and now im expecting my 3rd child hoping for a boy wanting a name to rhyme with my zowie and khloe any sugestions (not joey)" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Dec 22, 2010: "My 2nd baby is due January 27th 2011 have had Zoe set for her name pretty much from the beginning but as these 9 months have past it seems like I hear it a lot. I love original names or at least not very popular ones my 1st daughter is RaeAnn and iv never meet another RaeAnn so iv been think about making Zoe into ZoeMae for her whole first name but debating if it sounds good and if I should still add the dots any advice" (Report as inappropriate)
