I am a fan of the videogame but I really love the name, my dad does not understand, he thinks I am an idiot even though I point out real people who are named Zelda (I specifically named Zelda Fitzgerald). He can't see past the videogame and just judge the name for itself.

We have named our baby, ZELDA. To me its rare and a great name, hope our kid shall also be great.

Scott Fitzgerald, and the name was popular in the 1920s on the Fitzgerald's account - but then in 1930 Zelda became seriously ill with schizophrenia, and her name has since become a term for anyone else suffering from that illness, in the same way 'Greta Garbo' is now a term for a loner following the actress herself saying "I Want To Be Alone" in the 1932 film Anna Karenina and then Miss Garbo's being alone for the rest of her life until she died in 1990 aged 84. The Fitzgeralds, though, had shorter lives than Miss Garbo did: in 1940 F. Scott Fitzgerald died of a heart attack brought on by his alcoholism (he was aged 44), and in 1947 Zelda died in a fire at the mental home where she spent her own last years."
