I fell in love with the name a year before she was born and I found out from my Nigerian Doctor that there was a town in Nigeria, Africa named Zaria (btw, my daughter loves showing her friends her name on the globe). In any event, he told me the name meant, "small town, but big heart", and fell in more love with it since my child was born preemie. People often pronounce it wrong, like maria, they'll say zaria.
